Snoop Dogg becomes co-owner of Championship club Swansea
The 53-year-old American star joins former Real Madrid stalwart and Croatia World Cup finalist Luka Modric in the club's ownership structure.
Snoop Dogg made a surprise appearance on the club's social media channels last week modelling their new home jersey for the 2025-26 season and the club announced on Thursday that he has become an investor.
His involvement comes after American businessmen Brett Cravatt and Jason Cohen took over the club last November.
Swansea will hope that Snoop Dogg, whose real name is Calvin Broadus, can use his 100 million-plus social media followers to boost the club's profile as they seek to return to the Premier League for the first time since they were relegated in 2018.
Swansea's owners have said they want to generate greater revenue, which would allow them to invest more in new players under the profit and sustainability rules in British football.
The 53-year-old rapper said on the club's website: "My love of football is well known, but it feels special to me that I make my move into club ownership with Swansea City.
"The story of the club and the area really struck a chord with me. This is a proud, working class city and club. An underdog that bites back, just like me.
"I'm proud to be part of Swansea City."
Swansea announced in April that Modric, who this week joined AC Milan at the age of 39 after leaving Real Madrid, had acquired a stake in the club.
"To borrow a phrase from Snoop's back catalogue, this announcement is the next episode for Swansea City as we seek to create new opportunities to boost the club's reach and profile," Swansea's owners said in a statement.
"Snoop's colossal global fanbase and audience will certainly help us do that, and he has made clear to us throughout this process just how excited he is at the prospect of joining the club.
"Snoop has openly shared his love of football and his desire to be involved in the game and we expect his involvement to support us putting as competitive a team as possible out on the field."
Swansea's Welsh rivals Wrexham have achieved a meteoric rise to the Championship -- the second-tier of English football -- since Hollywood stars Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney purchased the club in 2020.

Texans open camp with new offensive coordinator, revamped receiver group
HOUSTON (AP) — As quarterback C.J. Stroud returns to lead the Houston Texans for a third season, his offense has a much different look than it did a year ago. Top receiver Nico Collins and leading rusher Joe Mixon are back. But the Texans have a new offensive coordinator in Nick Caley after Bobby Slowik was fired and longtime left tackle Laremy Tunsil was traded to the Commanders in the offseason. In other moves on offense, Houston traded for receiver Christian Kirk, signed receiver Justin Watson and drafted Iowa State receivers Jayden Higgins and Jaylin Noel before signing running back Nick Chubb last month. Chubb should get a lot of work early in camp with Mixon opening camp on the non-football injury list after missing minicamp with an ankle injury. 'Every year you're looking to add more and more to your team,' coach DeMeco Ryans said Wednesday as the Texans opened camp. 'I'm excited about the receivers that we've added. The young guys, Noel, Higgins, also with Kirk, Watson, all the guys we've added at those spots will definitely enhance our offense, giving us more options for where the football can go, and that will help our quarterback a lot.' The Texans needed depth at receiver after veterans Stefon Diggs and Robert Woods left in free agency and with Tank Dell out indefinitely recovering from a gruesome knee injury sustained in December. Even though it's early, Stroud has already been impressed by his rookie receivers. Higgins, who has been compared to Collins, had 87 receptions for 1,183 yards and nine touchdowns last season for the Cyclones and Noel added 80 catches for 1,194 yards and eight scores. 'They've came in with a great mindset,' Stroud said. 'They are really mature guys. Guys who love to work, consistently, here at the building or working with me in the offseason. So, I'm really excited to see those guys' growth and see them take a step forward each and every day. Not going to be perfect for them, but I think they're going to make a lot of plays.' While the Texans addressed their need at receiver, their most pressing issue is improving the offensive line after Stroud was sacked 52 times last season, which ranked second in the NFL. Though Tunsil was penalty-prone he was Houston's most consistent lineman and replacing him won't be easy. Second-round pick Aireontae Ersery could be Houston's left tackle of the future after starting 38 games at the position over three seasons at Minnesota. But veteran Cam Robinson will likely open the season at left tackle while Ersery adjusts to the NFL. Ryans knows everyone is concerned about the offensive line after Stroud was sacked eight times in a 23-14 loss to the Chiefs in the divisional round of the playoffs last season. 'I know I'm going to get a ton of questions about the offensive line and what it looks like,' Ryans said. 'You guys will see what it looks like when we line up across from another team and we get a chance to actually compete in live reps. Me talking to you is probably not going to convince anybody here … we'll see what it looks like, man. I'm excited about the group because I know they'll be better.' Stroud is also looking to take another step after leading the Texans to the postseason in each of his first two seasons. Stroud threw for 3,727 yards with 20 touchdowns and 12 interceptions in 17 games last season after winning AP Offensive Rookie of the Year in his debut when he had 4,108 yards passing with 23 TD passes and just five interceptions in 15 games. He was asked what the biggest lesson he learned last year was that he believes will help him this season. 'Just trust the process,' he said. 'It's not about what people think, who people think you are, what they think you are or when they think you should do it. It's about your process and how you're going to go about it. Joe Burrow sees a bright future for Bengals offense despite rough 1st day of training camp
CINCINNATI (AP) — Quarterback Joe Burrow said that the Cincinnati Bengals offense played 'poorly' on the first day of training camp Wednesday. But with a healthy unit that's fully participating in practices this season, Burrow is more optimistic than he has ever been about the offense hitting the ground running during the regular season. 'When we have guys back like we do, you know, it should be seamless,' Burrow said. 'Year in and year out, game in and game out. It wasn't today. So we'll watch the tape and get better from that, but you know, we have the guys in the room that have done it before, and that feels good.' Burrow led the NFL with 4,918 passing yards and 43 touchdowns last season, but he said that statically his focus this year is on completion rate even after having a career-best 70.6% accuracy in 2024, which was fourth in the league. With all of the offense's top players from last season returning, Burrow has a strong supporting cast around him. As the unit practices this summer, coach Zac Taylor said that the group is balancing building on its strengths with staying fresh and adding new elements. 'You want to continue to do the things we think we're excellent at and make people prove they can stop it,' Taylor said. 'But at the same time, you have to evolve what you're doing. We feel people are going to spend a lot of time studying us in the offseason to make sure they can hit the ground running if they play us early in the season.' Unlike previous seasons, Burrow will get a lot of time and reps in the training camp and in the preseason to go through that process. In 2020, training camp was shortened because of the pandemic. In 2021, Burrow was limited during the summer as he recovered from a torn ACL. In 2022, Burrow had an emergency appendectomy during training camp. In 2023, he strained his calf. At this point last year, he was limited during several practices as he worked back from a wrist injury. 'Right now, there is none of that,' Taylor said. 'He will participate every day like he normally would fully healthy. Then anticipate playing him more in games than we ever had.' Burrow has said for years that he wants to play more in the preseason, and he'll get that opportunity this season. That's one of several changes in place to help the Bengals have a stronger start to the season. The Bengals have dropped their first two games in each of the past three seasons. Cincinnati is practicing in the morning during training camp, implementing more physical practices and also playing its starters more in the preseason. 'I'm excited for the chance to get better,' Burrow said. 'Those are valuable reps that we haven't had in the past for good reason.
