Irn-Bru submits plans to transform The Kelpies into unicorns in new campaign
Irn-Bru has lodged plans to transform The Kelpies into unicorns each spring as part of a campaign for its limited edition flavoured soft drink.
To celebrate the launch of its Unicorn Tears flavoured limited edition Irn Bru Xtra, the drinks giant has submitted the proposal to Falkirk Council's Local Development Plan 3 consultation, to mount 15-foot horns onto The Kelpies every year on World Unicorn Day.
The proposal comes complete with detailed CGI artwork showing how the sculptures would look with their facelift.
Fronting the Kelpies campaign is the star of Irn-Bru's latest advert, Kelly, which gives a behind-the-scenes look at life on Greetin' Acres Unicorn Tear Farm.

Kenny Nicholson, head of brand at Irn-Bru said: 'The Kelpies are one of the most inspiring sculptures in the UK – an incredible feat of engineering and creativity – so we think they're the perfect spot to celebrate Scotland's most legendary animal.
'By crowning them with a unicorn horn every World Unicorn Day, we can help tell the story of Scotland's centuries-long love affair with the unicorn – from royal seals and ancient coins, all the way to cans of Irn-Bru Xtra's new Unicorn Tears flavour.
'And of course, every drop of our new Irn-Bru Xtra Legend Edition is made with Unicorn Tears, freshly collected at Greetin' Acres – so now feels like the perfect time to give Scotland's unicorn the horn it deserves.'
The new Legend Editions 330ml cans also include a Nessie Nectar flavour – 'lovingly milked' from the Loch Ness Monster herself.
Both new flavours are available in supermarkets and convenience stores across the UK, sold as eight packs or individual cans.

Meerkat pups 'settling in' to life at safari park
Meerkat pups are settling in and starting to 'show a bit of character' in their home at a safari park. The four pups were born on May 10 to parents Cardi B and Biggie at Blair Drummond Safari Park near Stirling. It is the third litter for the pair since they joined the park in 2022. Meerkat pups are born blind, deaf and almost hairless but keepers said that now, aged around one month, the animals have opened their eyes and begun exploring the outside world. PA Media The meerkat pups were born last month PA Media Meerkats are described as incredibly social animals and live in tight-knit groups known as mobs which work together to raise their young. Carolyn Booth, Pets Farm team leader at Blair Drummond, said: 'The pups are just starting to find their feet and show a bit of character – it's a brilliant stage to watch. 'They're getting more confident by the day, and the rest of the mob has really stepped up to help raise them. It's a real family effort.' The pups have now started nibbling on bits of solid food and spend time following the adults around and practising their digging skills. Sue Cleaver reflects on '25 years of laughs' after Coronation Street exit
Coronation Street actress Sue Cleaver has reflected on '25 years of laughs and tears' following her character's exit from the show. Eileen Grimshaw had a special send-off during Friday's episode of the soap, where she was seen leaving for Thailand alongside her son Jason Grimshaw, played by Ryan Thomas. Simon Gregson's character Steve McDonald, Tony Maudsley's George Shuttleworth, and Eileen's son Todd, played by Gareth Pierce, all said goodbye to the matriarch before drivers from the local taxi firm honked their horns as she was driven off. In an Instagram post, Cleaver said: 'Well… that's a wrap. 25 years of laughs, tears, costumes, chaos — and one unforgettable journey. 'I'll miss this character like crazy, but what a ride it's been. Thank you for every moment.' Cleaver has played the outspoken and uncomplicated Eileen in the STV show since 2000. Eileen came to Weatherfield to work at the local taxi firm, Streetcars, to provide for her two tearaway teenage children, Jason and Todd. She soon became friends with her boss Steve and came into conflict with Helen Worth's character Gail Rodwell (also known as Gail Platt). Cleaver took part in I'm A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! in 2022, where she opened up about reconciling with her birth mother, and was eliminated third. She also said her family is 'bizarrely interconnected' to other Coronation Street stars, including Worth who is godmother to one of her half-sisters, while her other half-sister's husband, John Bowe, appeared on the cobbles as Duggie Ferguson. In 2024, she released a book A Work In Progress in which she discusses how she feels she is not past her prime. In recent years, she has appeared as a panellist on the STV chat show Loose Women. Research fund for rare bone cancer launched in memory of Glasgow DJ
A research fund for a rare and aggressive form of bone cancer has been launched in memory of a Glasgow DJ who died from the disease aged 22. DJ, producer and sound engineer Niamh Jobson died in January just five days before her 23rd birthday after living with osteosarcoma for seven years. Despite enduring multiple rounds of chemotherapy and the eventual loss of her left leg, she remained deeply committed to her music career, performing, producing, and co-hosting the acclaimed Dub Series radio show alongside close friend and fellow DJ Kairogen. The musician's family has established the Niamh Jobson Research Fund to advance treatments for the cancer – which mainly affects teenagers and young adults – and to provide support for those affected. The initiative will officially launch on Saturday, June 28 at Glasgow's SWG3 featuring sets from Kairogen, Danny Greenman, Timescape, VXYX, Harry Mawby and LAZLO – artists who shared the stage with Niamh. STV News DJ and producer Niamh Jobson Born in Hong Kong, Niamh spent part of her childhood on the Isle of Eigg before moving to Glasgow and becoming immersed in the city's club culture. She first cut her teeth at the revered Sub Club, later making her debut at Subculture and performing solo and back-to-back at Slam's Return to Mono residency. Niamh's brother Finn Jobson said: 'I will never get over the loss of my best friend. Watching her suffer from this heinous disease, while powering through with her impressive and promising career cut far too short by osteosarcoma. 'Creating this fund and launching it in a very 'Niamh' manner, we will be able to assist her dream of helping kids in this position get another chance at life, while also pushing her unique underground club techno sound to the people of Glasgow. 'She was my partner in crime and we will carry on living like Niamh.' Tickets are on sale now on Resident Advisor with all money raised going to the research fund.
