Veteran Bowman Gray Stadium racer Robbie Brewer has died after a medical emergency led to a crash on Saturday night.
The 53-year-old was racing in the Sportsman division on Saturday 9 August when he crashed on a race restart on lap 16.
Running in fourth-place at the time, he crashed head-on into the wall, causing the No. 17 car to roll down the front stretch. Sources have told FloRacing that Brewer suffered from a heart attack which led to the head-on collision.
The on-site medical and rescue team worked to remove the roof of the car to get to Brewer before he was taken to a local hospital. His family confirmed his passing on Sunday morning.

Justin Rose Joins Exclusive Eight-Man PGA Tour Money Club
Based on facts, either observed and verified firsthand by the reporter, or reported and verified from knowledgeable sources. Newsweek AI is in beta. Translations may contain inaccuracies—please refer to the original content. Victory at the FedEx St. Jude Championship has had a significant impact on Justin Rose's career. With this title, he returned to the PGA Tour winner's circle for the first time in more than two years, returned to the top 10 of the world rankings after more than five years, and guaranteed his tour card for the next two seasons. However, his inclusion on an exclusive PGA Tour list stands out. Rose is only the eighth player in tour history to bank more than $70 million in career earnings. His title in Memphis raised his total to $73.2 million, ranking him sixth on the all-time list. This ranking is led by the legendary Tiger Woods, with $121 million in career earnings. Rory McIlroy is the only other player to have surpassed the $100 million mark ($107.1 million). Next in order are Phil Mickelson ($96.7 million), Scottie Scheffler ($92.2 million), Dustin Johnson ($75.7 million), Rose, Jim Furyk ($71.5 million), and Vijay Singh ($71.3 million). Getty Images/Andrew Redington Rose has surpassed not only Furyk and Singh, but also several other illustrious names, both legendary players and younger stars. These include Adam Scott ($69.7 million), Justin Thomas ($69.3 million), and Jordan Spieth ($65.9 million). Thomas could become the ninth member of the $70 million club this week with a strong finish at the BMW Championship. Scott, who missed the playoffs, will have to wait a bit longer, although he should complete this feat in a few starts, likely during the FedEx Cup Fall. The 2025 season is already Rose's best in terms of earnings, with $8.2 million, thanks not only to his victory at the FedEx St. Jude Championship, but also to his second-place finish at the Masters and his three other top-10 finishes, two of them at signature events. This is why I practice. This is why I compete. For moments like this! 🏆 — Justin ROSE (@JustinRose99) August 11, 2025 Now he'll have two more unbeatable opportunities to continue adding to this total, as he will compete in the BMW Championship, which has a $20 million purse to be distributed among a 50-player field, and in the TOUR Championship, in which only 30 players will compete for a $40 million purse. His previous best season, from a financial standpoint, was 2017-2018, in which he won two tournaments, finished second three times, and collected $8.1 million. He also won the FedEx Cup title that year. Rose had been out of the winner's circle since the 2023 AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am, while he last ranked in the top 10 in the world rankings at the 2020 Genesis Invitational (he started there as world No. 10). Former QB Analyzes Ups and Downs of Jaxson Dart's Giants Debut
Based on facts, either observed and verified firsthand by the reporter, or reported and verified from knowledgeable sources. Newsweek AI is in beta. Translations may contain inaccuracies—please refer to the original content. When it comes to rookie quarterbacks, New York Giants first-rounder Jaxson Dart was a clear standout throughout the first week of the NFL Preseason. Not only did Dart excite the Giants' fan base, while earning props from his coaches, but the young quarterback earned some positive analysis from analysts as well. Former NFL quarterback Dan Orlovsky was a believer in Dart before last Saturday's action. He remains optimistic after seeing nearly 20 passes out of the young QB. "I thought Dart looked really good," Orlovsky said on the 'Pat McAfee Show.' "I thought Jaxson Dart looked really good.. He was really strong in the pocket and you could see his athleticism" ~ @danorlovsky7 #PMSLive — Pat McAfee (@PatMcAfeeShow) August 11, 2025 "I think the things that you liked were he made some different kind of throws that weren't demanded of him. Some timing routes to the outside of the perimeter. Balls across the middle that weren't necessarily crossers. I thought he was really strong in the pocket; that's one of his calling cards. Out of all of the kids in the class this year, I thought he was the best in the pocket." Dart entered the matchup against the Buffalo Bills as the second quarterback to take the field after Russell Wilson. He threw 19 passes, completing 12 of his attempts for 154 yards and one touchdown. Jaxson Dart #6 of the New York Giants runs with the ball during training camp at Quest Diagnostics Training Center on July 24, 2025 in East Rutherford, New some believe that Dart could soon challenge Wilson for the No. 1 spot on the depth chart, Orlovsky believes it would be an ideal scenario to keep Dart on the side as long as the Giants are doing just fine. "I wouldn't rush Jaxson Dart on the field," said Orlovsky. "I think Russell Wilson is the starter and, hopefully, has some success. I think the best. I think the best thing for the team and for Jaxson Dart is that Brian Daboll is his coach for the foreseeable future, and that happens if they are capable of winning and being competitive this year." As impressive as Dart was on Saturday, Orlovsky still had his critiques. Pointing out two specific factors, the former quarterback noted that Dart was playing too fast. He then pointed out that there was a scenario where Dart should've checked the ball down to the running back, and opted for a short run instead. Outside of that, the ex-NFL passer believes that Dart is on the right track. The Giants will see more out of their first-round pick this weekend, when the Giants and the Jets battle it out.
