UP CM Adityanath directs officials to address growing concerns over food safety, adulteration

Food Safety and Drug Administration Department
in Lucknow.
The meeting addressed growing concerns over
food safety
and adulteration in the state. CM Yogi emphasised that the health of the ordinary people is the top priority of the state government, and this responsibility should be fulfilled with complete transparency and commitment.
During the meeting, CM Yogi directed officials to take strict action against
food adulteration
and
fake medicine trade
, terming these acts as "social crimes" that significantly threaten
public health
.
He instructed that offenders' photos be displayed at major intersections to deter others and raise awareness.
The Chief Minister reviewed the progress of the Food Safety and Drug Administration Department, noting the expansion of food and drug laboratories across the state.
Twelve divisions, including Aligarh, Ayodhya, and Varanasi, have established new laboratories, and existing ones in Lucknow, Gorakhpur, and Jhansi have been upgraded. Modern microbiology laboratories have also been established in Lucknow, Meerut, and Varanasi.
CM Yogi emphasised the importance of transparency and accountability in the food safety process. The FSDA has implemented a password-protected barcode system to ensure the confidentiality and impartiality of sample analysis. A mobile app, "Food Safety Connect," and a toll-free number have been introduced to encourage public participation.
The meeting also discussed investment and job creation in the medical device and pharmaceutical manufacturing sectors. Proposals worth Rs 1,470 crore were approved in the last three years, resulting in direct employment for over 3,340 people.

Majhi launches ‘zero accident day' to enhance road safety

1 2 Bhubaneswar: In a significant move towards enhancing road safety, chief minister Mohan Charan Majhi on Tuesday launched the 'Zero Accident Day' initiative. He also launched multiple road safety programmes and infrastructure developments worth around Rs 575.77 crore. Speaking at the event held at Lok Seva Bhavan here, Majhi emphasised that road accidents affect not just individuals but the entire economy. "About 75% of accident-related deaths in India are due to speeding," he stated, urging citizens to strictly adhere to road safety rules. "Accidents impact not just families or states, but the entire economy. It is not just an individual loss, but a collective one. Therefore, I urge everyone to strictly follow all road-related rules from the time you leave home until you return, ensuring a safe journey," he said. The event marked the inauguration of 11 automated driving testing systems (ADTS) across various districts, implemented at a cost of Rs 24 crore. The CM also launched the second phase of the Disha (Driving Electronic Enforcement to Save Human Lives) project, worth Rs 215 crore, which will cover 485 km of national and state highways. In a major boost to public transportation, 15 super premium buses, christened 'Shri Jagannath Express', were introduced at a cost of Rs 27.3 crore. These buses will connect various cities including Puri, Ayodhya, Tirupati, and Hyderabad. The state's first automated vehicle testing centre was unveiled in Cuttack, with plans to establish 20 more centres at an allocated budget of Rs 211 crore. The govt also inaugurated the Atal Bus Stand in three locations — Basudevpur, Dhamra and Basta. Commerce and transport minister Bibhuti Bhushan Jena highlighted the govt's commitment to safe transport. "When we discuss Odisha's development, safe and robust transport is crucial," he said. The event saw participation from 'Zero Accident Day' brand ambassadors, including Digapahandi MLA Siddhanta Mahapatra and Padma Shri awardee Sudarsan Pattnaik, who shared messages on road safety awareness. Five individuals — Abinash Panigrahi, Bishwaranjan Padhi, Panchanan Das, Srinivas Behera and Savita Rani Parida — were honoured for their efforts in transporting accident victims to hospitals. A CMO statement said the 'Zero Accident Day' initiative, developed in collaboration with IIT-Madras, will continue until June 28.

Shimla (Himachal Pradesh) [India], June 3 (ANI): Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Thakur Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu has expressed grief over the demise of Indian Army soldier Lance Naik Manish Thakur, who lost his life in Sikkim, which has faced landslides due to heavy rains. He was a resident of Baraban village in Nahan, Sirmaur district, and served in the Dogra Regiment. The Chief Minister conveyed his condolences to the bereaved family and said that the state government stands firmly with them in this difficult time and will provide all possible assistance. He prayed for peace to the departed soul and strength to the bereaved family members to bear this irreparable loss, a release said. Sukhu inaugurated and laid foundation stones of six development projects worth about Rs 100 crore in the Dehra assembly constituency of Kangra district on Tuesday. Besides dedicating Rs. 4.96 crore Community Health Centre (CHC) Haripur in Dehra, the Chief Minister also laid foundation stone of Administrative and Diagnostic Block of the Hospital, Food Commissary and Quarantine at Durgesh Aranya- Zoological Park to be constructed at a cost of Rs. 47.62 crore and Lift Water Supply Scheme (LWSS) for International Zoo at Bankhandi (Seera Da Bharoh in tehsil Haripur) to be built at a cost of Rs. 16.25 crore. He also laid the foundation stone for the upgradation of the road from Haripur to Sakri Ghera, which will cost Rs. 12.87 crore, the road from Thathar Tripal to Mehwa panchayat, which will cost Rs. 6.64 crore, and the upgradation of the Guler to Nandpur Barial Ludret road, which will be completed with an outlay of Rs 10.29 crore. He said that International level Durgesh Aranya Zoological Park was being constructed at Bankhandi at a cost of Rs 619 crore. In the first phase, Rs 150 crore was being spent on construction of 43 enclosures. Around 90 per cent of the work on the boundary wall has been completed, and eight check dams have also been constructed so far. The Chief Minister directed to construct more check to facilitate rain water harvesting. He said that it will not only be a tourist attraction but also a model of sustainable infrastructure, blending conservation with innovation. (ANI)
