While the race was jam-packed with fun from the start all the way through to the photo-finish, here were the five best moments from the Wienie 500: 5. The Oscar Meyer Anthem
"We ask that you rise and place your hand over your stomach," the crowd was advised over the Speedway speakers, "and feel free to sing along as he performs the Oscar Meyer Wienie Song." The crowd happily obliged as the singer belted out the famous tune, with Friday's hot-doggers looking on from behind him with pride.
The audience is just as much a part of the fun as the race itself, and the Wienie 500 fans did not disappoint. But one fan stole the show: Granny Smith, who had the best sign of the day and was chosen to be the honorary engine-starter.
"Wienies, start your engines," she proclaimed — and the crowd, naturally, went wild.
What is a race without a few unexpected hiccups?
After starting the race strong, the Sonoran Dog Wienermobile started overheating and was passed by not one, but two of the Wienermobiles trailing it.
"That is an over-grilled dog!" Will Buxton said on the broadcast. Indeed, it was. 2. Sonoran Dog strikes back
Down but not out, the Sonoran Dog Wienermobile came back with a vengeance at the first turn, passing Chi Dog to take a commanding lead.
A historic race deserves a historic finish, and it got the one it deserved. Despite trailing by the length of two whole Wienermobiles, Slaw Dog made a late push to take the lead and never looked back.
Chi Dog was left in the dust for the second time in the race, and Slaw Dog went home with the trophy, a moment the team is sure to relish forever.

The 6-foot-4, 265-pound Martin is entering his third NFL season since being signed as an undrafted free agent by Cleveland after the 2023 draft. He spent last season on practice squads for three teams: the Browns, New York Giants and Green Bay. Martin played college football for five seasons between 2018 and 2022, three with Texas A&M and two with Washington. Dekkers, signed as an undrafted rookie following a tryout after last spring's draft, has now been waived twice since the beginning of training camp. He's been the Saints' lone left-handed QB but did not appear in New Orleans' preseason opener last weekend against the Chargers in Los Angeles. Dekkers was among four QBs on the roster for that game, along with Spencer Rattler, who started the game; second-round draft choice Tyler Shough; and 2023 fourth-round draft choice Jake Haener. National Football League Eagles' Landon Dickerson Serves Beers at Practice While Recovering From Surgery Published Aug. 14, 2025 4:36 p.m. ET share facebook x reddit link Landon Dickerson played bartender and served cold ones for the Super Bowl champion Eagles with the injured offensive lineman's career temporarily on ice. The Eagles can't wait for Dickerson to resume his day job. Dickerson passed around beers Thursday at the end of a joint practice with the Cleveland Browns — with a brace on his right knee following meniscus surgery that will keep the three-time Pro Bowl lineman sidelined at least through the end of training camp. Dickerson was injured at the end of Sunday's open practice at Lincoln Financial Field. There is no set timetable for his return, and Brett Toth took first-team snaps at left guard this week at practice. Toth likely will start for the Eagles when they play their second preseason game on Saturday against the Browns. "Whatever they ask me to do, I'm going to step to the plate and give it the best I got," Toth said. "Hopefully I can perform to the standard that was before me." Beyond that, there are no guarantees. The Eagles remain hopeful Dickerson could return for the season opener when the Eagles raise their championship banner on Sept. 4 against Dallas. ADVERTISEMENT "Don't have to name any starters or any backups at any position," coach Nick Sirianni said. "Brett's done a nice job and I like the depth that we have at that position and I know we have options there, but you asked about Brett, I think Brett's doing a really good job and he's got a lot of versatility." Eagles right tackle Lane Johnson remained confident that Toth could handle the spot but was relieved that Dickerson wasn't necessarily expected to remain sidelined deep into the season. "It was alarming, but I'm glad we got a good-case scenario," Johnson said. "Make no mistake, Landon's one of the, if not, the best guard in football." Toth, who played at Army, has had three stints with the Eagles and spent a bulk of that time on the practice squad. "H's a really smart individual, really good with the detail of the game," Eagles offensive coordinator Kevin Patullo said. "He understands a lot of positions, which is great to have a guy like that that can line up in multiple spots and be able to step in if something happens.
