With the score at 7-2 to the Germans, Mardle joked: "How quickly can MBEs be taken away?"
Mardle also reckons Littler and Humphries 'buckled' under the pressure as England were sent crashing out.
The tournament favourites were stunned by a brilliant Martin Schindler and Ricardo Pietreczko at the last 16.
The German duo were simply superb as they nailed eight of 13 doubles and smashed two stellar ton plus checkouts.

LUKES OUT Littler and Humphries 'like Gerrard and Lampard' as they CRASH OUT of World Cup
World No.1 Humphries and Littler hit just 36 percent of their doubles and never found any rhythm.
Former world championship semi-finalist Mardle suggested the lethal Lukes crumbled under the weight of expectation.
He said: 'Luke and Luke were no doubt feeling the stresses and strains of being favourites — like massive favourites.
'To go on about how good Phil Taylor and Adrian Lewis were — they made it look easy.
'That is how difficult World Cup pairings can be.
'Pressure got to them at some point, Luke and Luke. They buckled — and their opponents didn't.'

Mardle praised Germany's composed and confident performance from the very first dart.
He added: 'Full credit to Martin and Ricardo there.
'It was just very good from Germany from leg one. When they had their chances, they took them.
'The Germans had much better finishing at the right time. It was just a really good performance.
'Ricardo and Martin showed they can do it against the two best players in the world.
'England were outplayed. It was very efficient from Germany.'

Boca fans turn Miami Beach into Boca Beach ahead of Club World Cup start
MIAMI BEACH, Florida, June 15 - More than a thousand Boca Juniors fans turned a slice of Miami's coastline into 'Boca Beach' on Sunday, draping the shores of Bark Beach in blue and yellow on the eve of their team's Club World Cup debut. With drums pounding and chants echoing over the white sand, supporters grilled meat, waved flags and drank 'fernet con coca' — the bitter Argentine aperitif mixed with cola — as bemused Floridians looked on during their usual Sunday dip. Beer flowed for hours under the Florida sun, with police observing calmly from a distance. Several dozen fans made their way from downtown Miami to join the seaside celebration, bringing more banners and unmistakable Argentine energy. The colourful display injected a much-needed dose of passion into the newly expanded Club World Cup, giving the tournament a proper World Cup atmosphere amid concerns that fans might turn their backs on the revamped format. Some 61,000 fans, however, filled the Hard Rock stadium for the opening game on Saturday as Lionel Messi's Inter Miami played African giants Al-Ahly. More than 80,000 attended Champions League winners Paris St Germain's 4-0 drubbing of Atletico Madrid at the Rose Bowl on Sunday. 'Wherever you go, Boca is here,' Gaston San Paul, a Boca fan who flew in from Entre Rios, Argentina, told Reuters. 'Wherever we are we do this,' he added, referring to the 'Banderazo', a fan gathering destined to mark territory ahead of a game. Boca Juniors will face Portuguese side Benfica on Monday at the Hard Rock Stadium in their opening match of the 32-team competition, which is being staged in the United States for the first time.

Josh Rock and Daryl Gurney clinch first World Cup crown for Northern Ireland
Josh Rock and Daryl Gurney – the tournament's fourth seeds – broke down in tears after holding their nerve to make history with a 10-9 defeat of Jonny Clayton and Gerwyn Price. Having trailed 7-5, the triumphant pair hit back to lead 9-7, only to miss four match darts for the title at 9-8, allowing Clayton and Price – champions in 2020 and 2023 – to force a decider. NORTHERN IRELAND ARE THE 2025 @BetVictor WORLD CUP CHAMPIONS 🏆 Josh Rock and Daryl Gurney have done it… Northern Ireland win the World Cup for the very first time!! What a final as they beat Wales 10-9 👏 — PDC Darts (@OfficialPDC) June 15, 2025 Rock and Gurney, who threw first in the final leg, regained their composure to clinch the title before sinking to their knees during an emotional embrace. Playing together for the first time, the champions picked up a team first prize of £80,000. Rock told Sky Sports: 'Me and Daryl said we'll win this World Cup; I wasn't expecting it to be the first time. But we've done it. 'I have the privilege to have made history, we've won the World Cup for Northern Ireland and there is always going to be a star on the back of this shirt. For the very first time… NORTHERN IRELAND ARE WORLD CUP CHAMPIONS 👏 — PDC Darts (@OfficialPDC) June 15, 2025 'As a team, we were fantastic. We fought hard all the way through. 'One of the two of us will win a major this year, I think, because when you win on the big stage in front of Sky Sports, it's obviously a different story.' Northern Ireland led 3-1 but then lost six of the next eight legs before regaining control of a captivating contest courtesy of a devastating combination of Rock's scoring power and Gurney's finishing. Following the four missed darts for glory in the penultimate leg, Wales were given a glimmer of hope, only for Gurney to finally nail double eight to secure the trophy. A special, special final… 🏆 — PDC Darts (@OfficialPDC) June 15, 2025 'Josh was power scoring and all I had to do was clean up the finishing,' said Gurney. 'I have never been so proud of this man and myself.' Second seeds Wales began Sunday as favourites for silverware after English top seeds Luke Littler and Luke Humphries suffered a shock second-round defeat by Germany on Saturday. Clayton and Price overcame Hong Kong 8-4 in the quarter-finals before defeating Dutch duo Danny Noppert and Gian van Veen in the last four, while Rock and Gurney reached the final by beating Ireland 8-5 and then thrashing German pair Martin Schindler and Ricardo Pietreczko 8-1. An epic title showdown featured 16 maximums – 11 for Northern Ireland. Beaten finalist Price said: 'We started off really slow. We were trying to get into the game, it was really difficult. But we got ourselves in front – the leg to go 8-5 up was a crucial leg for us, and then we find ourselves 8-7 behind. 'Testament to the Irish team, Josh was scoring unbelievably – we probably couldn't keep up with him. In the last leg, I banged a 180 in and thought, 'yeah, we've got them back', then he hits a 177. 'At the beginning of this tournament, I predicted a Wales-(Northern) Ireland final – I just predicted we would win. But fair play to them, they were fantastic.'

Man City ready to take huge loss on Jack Grealish with Napoli deciding between him and Man Utd exile Garnacho
A Serie A side are also considering a move for Rasmus Hojlund CAUGHT NAP-PING Man City ready to take huge loss on Jack Grealish with Napoli deciding between him and Man Utd exile Garnacho Click to share on X/Twitter (Opens in new window) Click to share on Facebook (Opens in new window) NAPOLI have £45million to spend on Jack Grealish or Alejandro Garnacho — but they will not take both. The Italian champs laid down the law to Manchester rivals City and United over deals for their exiled wingers. However, City will be prepared to accept a fee of around £45m for Grealish, 29, who Pep Guardiola axed from his Club World Cup squad. SunSport understands Napoli would prefer to sign Grealish. But they know Garnacho would be a better investment — as he is nine years younger. Napoli would love to reunite Grealish with City legend Kevin De Bruyne, who signed a two-year deal on Thursday to end a trophy-laden ten years at the Etihad. READ MORE IN FOOTBALL 'I heard it go' Tony Bellew forced off with nasty injury just five minutes into Soccer Aid Grealish, who became England's first £100m player when he signed from Aston Villa in 2021, will be desperate to force his way into Thomas Tuchel's plans for next summer's World Cup. Tottenham and Everton have been linked with a move, while a return to Villa could appeal. However, it is unlikely City would receive a £45m offer from a Premier League club — meaning a loan would be his only option to stay in England. Prem sides would also be unlikely to pay Grealish's £230,000-a-week wages in full. The City boss preferred to hand 19-year-old Claudio Echeverri his debut and leave Grealish on the bench as his side desperately chased a leveller in the closing stages at Wembley. Jack Grealish has gone from eye-catching showman and heartthrob to miserable bench warmer - and I know who's to blame It cost Grealish a place in Tuchel's squad for England's recent 1-0 World Cup qualifying win over Andorra and 3-1 friendly defeat to Senegal. Garnacho would prefer to stay in the Premier League but United's £70m price tag has put off suitors. Chelsea backed off after showing interest back in January. The Argentine winger was left out of Ruben Amorim's starting line-up for the Europa League final defeat to Tottenham and only went on as a late substitute. Boss Amorim then told Garnacho to find a new club this summer. 6 6 Meanwhile, Inter Milan are stepping up their efforts to land United's goal-shy forward Rasmus Hojlund. Inter are interested in taking the 22-year-old to the San Siro on loan next season, with a view to a permanent deal in 2026. United would prefer the cash now as they look to give the manager extra funds to make changes. Former Atalanta forward Hojlund scored just four Prem goals last season — ten in all competitions — and looked short of confidence by the end. Yet his stock remains high in Italy and Inter are looking to take him back to Serie A — although they are reluctant to stump up United's £38m asking price. 6 TRANSFER NEWS LIVE - KEEP UP WITH ALL THE LATEST FROM A BUSY SUMMER WINDOW
