Lucy Hale Says She Auditioned for Miley Cyrus' Part in 'Hannah Montana': 'It Was Very Cool'

Yahoo15-03-2025

To promote her newest film F*** Marry Kill, Lucy Hale joined Buzzfeed for 'The Puppy Interview,' where she revealed one of her lesser-known auditions for a popular 2000s Disney show.
When asked what role people would be surprised to find out she auditioned for, Hale, most known for her role in the TV series Pretty Little Liars, responded, 'Oh my gosh, I've auditioned for Pitch Perfect, Hairspray, Hannah Montana, 50 Shades of Grey, The Substance."
'Oh my gosh, so many," she shared. "I feel like, because I've lived in L.A. almost 20 years, everyone who gets the role is always, it's meant to be their thing, but for every 'yes' to an audition, there's like a lineup of 200 that you heard a 'no' for. I should probably go back like in journals and look at all the things I've auditioned for.'

Hale confirmed that she auditioned for Miley Cyrus' leading role of Hannah Montana, which aired from 2006-2010.
'When I still lived in Tennessee and I was 14 at the time, so this would have been, 'math, math' 21 years ago, and it was a couple years before they had cast Miley in it.'

'I remember the audition' Hale continued, 'It was a taped audition in Tennessee. It was the audition that like made me want to be an actress. I remember that vividly, it was very cool.'
The children's show Hale did appear on came up in conversation, though, when Hale revealed that her first ever acting role was on Nickelodeon's early-2000s show Drake and Josh.
'I had one word on Drake and Josh on Nickelodeon, and I was 15. And I was wearing an orange shirt and like a blue terrycloth skirt. I was very nervous. In the scene, Drake [Bell]'s character, he was like, 'What's your name?' And I go, 'Hazel!' And he goes, 'Like the nut?' And I go, 'uh-huh!' '
'And that's it. Groundbreaking. My career skyrocketed since then, so, it's all because of that' she joked.
In the interview, Hale also acknowledged that she continues to stay in touch with the cast of Pretty Little Liars, which ended in 2017.

'We do have a big group chat with the whole cast of PLL,' Hale said. ' It's everyone, I mean, I think there's like 20 people in it. We're all kind of scattered around and doing different things, and like everyone has kids, and so we don't see each other maybe as often as we'd like to, but we've been toying around with the idea the last couple years of having a big reunion.'
"I ran into Sasha and Ashley the other night," Hale continued, "(I) didn't know they were going to be there. It's just so nice to see familiar faces."
F*** Marry Kill, Hale's newest film, is out now in select theaters and on digital.

Rock Legend Shares Bold Message About L.A. Protests

Rock Legend Shares Bold Message About L.A. Protests originally appeared on Parade. Protests broke out in Los Angeles, California in response to a number of raids conducted by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), and Green Day frontman Billie Joe Armstrong's support lies with the protestors. The 53-year-old rock star shared a snippet of the L.A. protests on Instagram along with a caption featuring the middle finger and ice cube emojis on Sunday, June 8. The post also included a live recording of 'F**k Off' — a track off Saviors (Édition de Luxe), the deluxe version of Green Day's 2024 album Saviors, which was released in May 2025. Armstrong's post had the comment section disabled on Instagram, but some fans took to X (formerly known as Twitter) to share their thoughts. 'Such a shame Billie Joe Armstrong decided he was a politician instead of a musician. I respected him way more when he just shut up and played the hits,' wrote one user. A second user noted, 'I love Green Day. I love you, Bill.' A third user played off the lyrics from 'Basket Case' — one of Armstrong's biggest hits — and wrote, 'Do you have the time to listen to him whine?' 🎬 SIGN UP for Parade's Daily newsletter to get the latest pop culture news & celebrity interviews delivered right to your inbox 🎬 The punk rocker's post comes after protestors peacefully gathered in the streets of L.A. on Friday, June 6 in response to the ICE raids that took place at several businesses in the area. The National Guard was reportedly deployed to the streets of L.A. on Sunday, June 8 following orders from President Trump's administration. Armstrong has previously been vocal about his political views and often integrates them into his music with Green Day. The band's 2004 album American Idiot is widely regarded as an anti-George W. Bush album, inspired by events such as 9/11 and the Iraq War, which took place during Bush's presidency. Rock Legend Shares Bold Message About L.A. Disney to Pay Comcast an Additional $439 Million for Hulu Stake as Streaming Saga Comes to an End

The years-long saga over the fate of Hulu is officially resolved, with Disney set to pay Comcast $439 million to finally complete the sale of its 33 percent stake in the streaming service. Back in 2023, Disney officially agreed to pay a floor of $8.61 billion for Comcast's stake in Hulu, but the companies couldn't agree on a final valuation for the stake, leading to an extended appraisal process. That process is now complete as of Monday, with a final price clearly much closer to Disney's valuation than Comcast's. While Disney was able to take operational control of Hulu as it sorted out the value of Comcast's stake, the completion of the deal will give the company more leeway to more fully integrate Hulu into its streaming offerings. 'We are pleased this is finally resolved,' Disney CEO Bob Iger said in a statement. 'We have had a productive partnership with NBCUniversal, and we wish them the best of luck. Completing the Hulu acquisition paves the way for a deeper and more seamless integration of Hulu's general entertainment content with Disney+ and, soon, with ESPN's direct-to-consumer product, providing an unrivaled value proposition for consumers.' Disney began integrating Hulu content into Disney+ in late 2023, and expanded that initiative last year. Disney says that the full acquisition of Hulu will be completed by July 24, 2025. Disney acquired a controlling stake in Hulu in connection with its acquisition of 21st Century Fox, but Comcast's stake remained the big sticking point. 'Hulu was a great start for us in streaming that generated nearly $10 billion in proceeds for Comcast and created an important audience for NBCUniversal's world-class content,' a Comcast spokesperson says. 'We wish Disney well with Hulu and appreciate the cooperative way our teams managed the partnership.'
