Oman real estate transactions hit $2.17bn by April 2025, showing 9.7% growth
The total value of real estate transactions in Oman reached RO 833.9 million ($2.2bn) by the end of April 2025, reflecting a 9.7 per cent increase compared to OR760.2m ($1.98bn) during the same period in 2024, according to the latest data from the National Centre for Statistics and Information (NCSI). Key highlights from the data include: Fees collected from all legal transactions rose by 18.4 per cent, reaching OR24.3m ($63.1m), up from OR20.5m ($53.3m) in April 2024 The traded value of sales contracts increased by 13.7 per cent, amounting to OR408.5m ($1.06b), compared to OR359.4m ($934m) in April 2024. Despite this rise, the number of sales contracts fell by 1.4 per cent, with 21,087 contracts compared to 21,385 in the same period last year Mortgage contracts saw a 6.1 per cent increase, totalling OR421.5m ($1.09bn) across 7,164 contracts, compared to OR397.2m ($1.03bn) for 6,482 contracts in April 2024 Exchange contracts showed a slight decrease in volume, with 436 contracts worth OR3.9m ($10.1m), compared to 465 contracts worth OR3.6m ($9.4m) during the same period in 2024 Additionally, the number of issued property deeds increased by 1.7 per cent, reaching 73,432 by the end of April 2025, compared to 72,181 in the previous year. State Council reviews study on diversifying Oman's sources of income
Muscat – The State Council discussed a study titled ' Mechanism for Diversifying Sources of Income in the Sultanate of Oman' during its fifth meeting on Monday. The meeting was chaired by H E Sheikh Abdulmalik bin Abdullah al Khalili, Chairman of the State Council. The study reviewed the current state of the Omani economy and existing sources of national income. It also outlined international experiences in tackling challenges related to income diversification and financial sustainability. Concluding the discussion, the study stressed the importance of exploring future opportunities and provided recommendations for diversifying income sources across various economic sectors. The Council also reviewed a report by the Social and Cultural Committee regarding its meeting with officials from the Social Protection Fund to discuss mechanisms for implementing the social protection system. Oman Airports unveils Salalah Airport City master plan
Salalah – Oman Airports on Tuesday held an introductory workshop to present the master plan for the Salalah Airport City project, a development aimed at attracting investment and accelerating economic growth in Dhofar governorate. The initiative is part of efforts to position the region as a contributor to Oman's economic diversification strategy. The workshop brought together officials from government entities and the private sector, highlighting the need for coordinated planning to support sustainable development. Initial findings outlined key economic sectors and potential land uses within the proposed airport city. Eng Salim al Harrasi, Senior Manager of Infrastructure Projects at Oman Airports, gave an overview of the project, stressing its importance in connecting sectors such as logistics and tourism. He said the development aligns with national goals for integrated growth. Oman Airports also shared a proposed timeline for the project's implementation, reaffirming its focus on infrastructure standards and economic planning. The airport city forms part of the company's strategy to enhance partnerships and promote institutional collaboration across critical sectors. The initiative follows a successful pilot project involving direct air-sea cargo transfer between Salalah Port and Salalah Airport. The operation took advantage of the proximity between the port, airport and free zone to improve cargo handling efficiency and support Oman's role as a regional logistics hub. Salalah Airport's cargo terminal currently spans 20,000sqm, with a handling capacity of 50,000 tonnes annually. Plans are underway to double this to 100,000 tonnes.
