The new non-AC Amrit Bharat Express between Patna and New Delhi to be inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday will offer regular service for travellers from July 31, the Northern Railway said."Train No. 22361 Rajendra Nagar Terminal - New Delhi Daily Amrit Bharat Express will commence its regular service from Rajendra Nagar Terminal on 31.07.2025. It will depart from Rajendra Nagar Terminal at 19.45 hrs daily and arrive at New Delhi at 13.10 hrs, the next day," Himanshu Shekhar Upadhyay, Chief Public Relations Officer, Northern Railway (NR) said on Friday.He said in return, this train, numbered as 22362 New Delhi-Rajendra Nagar Terminal, will start its regular service from New Delhi at 7.10 pm on August 1 and arrive at Rajendra Nagar Terminal at 11.45 am the next day."The train will operate daily from both stations in Up and Down direction from its scheduled timings," officials said.After commencing its journey from Rajendra Nagar, this train has eight scheduled stoppages at stations such as Patna, Danapur, Ara, Buxar, Pt Deen Dayal Upadhyay, Dubedarganj, Govindpuri and Ghaziabad before it terminates at New Delhi."The train's stoppages will remain the same during the return journey," officials said.Upadhyay said that the train will have eight sleeper class coaches , eleven general coaches, two luggage-cum-brake vans and one pantry.According to the Northern Railway, one special Amrit Bharat Express will make an inaugural run from Rajendra Nagar Terminal at 11.45 am on Friday to arrive in Delhi at 4 pm the next day, halting at its scheduled stoppages."Another special inaugural run has been also planned from New Delhi on July 19, 2025 at 6 pm for Rajendra Nagar. The train will arrive at its terminating station at 11:45 pm the next day," Upadhyay said.

Non-AC Coaches In Indian Railways Increase To 70% With Focus On Poor
New Delhi: The percentage of non-AC coaches in trains run by Indian Railways has significantly increased to about 70 per cent, and a special manufacturing programme is being implemented to produce an additional 17,000 non-AC general and sleeper coaches over the next 5 years, Minister of Railways Ashwini Vaishnaw informed Parliament on Wednesday. Indian Railways have significantly increased the facilities for passengers demanding general class travel. During the last financial year 2024-25 alone, 1,250 general coaches have been utilised in various long-distance trains. Indian Railways continues to run a large number of trains with affordable fare structures, including Mail, Express and passenger trains, for the benefit of the general public including the poor and lower middle class. Indian Railways has introduced non-AC Amrit Bharat services and Namo Bharat Rapid Rail services, providing high quality services to a larger section of the population, particularly lower income groups, the minister said. Indian Railways has also provisioned for production of another 100 Amrit Bharat Trains, he added. Vaishnaw highlighted that due to higher availability of general coaches, the number of passengers travelling in general/unreserved coaches has shown an increasing trend, going up from 553 crore in 2022-23 to 609 crore in 2023-24 and 651 crore in 2024-25. The number of seats available for non-AC passengers has now gone up to 54 lakh which constitutes 78 per cent of the total while AC seats comprise the remaining 22 per cent. To provide greater accommodation for the passengers using General and non-AC Sleeper Coaches, the extant policy regarding composition of Mail/Express trains provides for 12 General class & Sleeper class non- AC coaches and 8 AC-Coaches, in a train of 22 coaches, thereby providing greater accommodation for the passengers using General and non-AC Sleeper Coaches, Vaishnaw explained. Further, to cater to the needs of passengers desirous of availing unreserved accommodation, Indian Railways operate unreserved non-AC passenger trains/MEMU/EMU etc. for affordable travel, which are in addition to the unreserved accommodation (coaches) available in Mail/Express services. Development of Amrit Bharat Express trains, manufacturing of MEMU trains, and increasing the share of general coaches clearly shows that Indian Railways is catering effectively to the demand for travel in general class, the minister further stated. Indian Railways has introduced fully non-AC Amrit Bharat trains, presently comprising 11 General Class coaches, 8 Sleeper Class coaches, 1 Pantry car and 2 Second class cum Luggage cum Guard Van & Disabled Friendly Compartment. New Delhi: India is set to host the AI Impact Summit in February 2026, reinforcing its commitment to democratising Artificial Intelligence (AI) for the public good, the Parliament was informed on Wednesday. This landmark event aligns with Prime Minister Narendra Modi's vision of making technology accessible to all and leveraging AI to tackle real-world challenges across healthcare, education, agriculture, climate, and governance, Union Electronics and Information Technology Minister Ashwini Vaishnav told the Lok Sabha. The IndiaAI mission, which prioritises accountability, safety, equity, and the defence of privacy and human rights, is at the core of India's AI strategy. According to the statement, one of the main highlights is the creation of native Large and Small Language Models using Indian datasets. Currently, startups such as Sarvam AI, Soket AI, Gnani AI, and Gan AI are developing foundational models that are suited to the linguistic and cultural diversity of India. According to the statement, these models will be open-source, allowing other startups to create locally tailored applications. According to Minister Vaishnaw, to support scalable innovation, the government is also enhancing AI compute capacity by ensuring GPU infrastructure access and expanding the AIKosh Datasets Platform, which currently hosts over 1,000 datasets and 208 AI models, including Text-to-Speech tools in Indian languages. Additionally, the mission is funding 30 AI-based applications addressing public interest areas like health, climate, and governance. Through its IndiaAI Startups Global Programme, 10 startups are being mentored at Station F and HEC Paris, including PrivaSapien Technologies (privacy-enhancing AI) and Secure Blink (AI cybersecurity). Ensuring safe and trusted AI, India has established the IndiaAI Safety Institute to coordinate efforts on responsible AI. Projects under this initiative include AI bias mitigation, machine unlearning, and watermarking, as per the statement A strong legal framework that addresses AI-related risks like disinformation, deepfakes, and data misuse, such as the Digital Personal Data Protection Act (2023), IT Act (2000), and IT Rules (2021), supports the tech initiatives.
