Originally, Pakistan was set to host Afghanistan for a bilateral T20I series this month. However, the PCB suggested transforming it into a tri-series in the UAE to help players familiarise themselves with the conditions ahead of the Asia Cup.
The Asia Cup, scheduled from September 9 to 28, will be a T20-format tournament featuring eight teams. Pakistan, India, UAE, and Oman are in Group A, while Bangladesh, Afghanistan, Sri Lanka, and Hong Kong make up Group B.
Pakistan's campaign starts on September 12, with their high-profile match against India on September 14.
