Uttarakhand: Pauri Garhwal authorities conduct joint inspection of Kanwar Yatra route
The inspection was led by District Magistrate Swati S Bhadauria, who was accompanied by the Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) and teams from the electricity, roads, and water departments.
'Today, we inspected the whole Kanwar Yatra route with the SSP and the whole team of electricity, road, and water. A detailed inspection was conducted of the pedestrian road, temple, parking area, and toilets,' Bhadauria told ANI.
She also pointed out a few areas requiring immediate attention.
'There is a big parking lot of the Zila Panchayat where there is a slight shortage of toilets. We have also directed them about the solar lights on the pedestrian walk, while directions have been given for the safety of elephant-prone zones and dangerous zones,' she added.
Meanwhile, the Uttarakhand State Health Department has also prepared a comprehensive action plan to ensure pure and safe food is provided to the lakhs of devotees expected to participate in the yatra.
According to an official release, special teams of food safety officers have been deployed in Haridwar, Dehradun, Tehri, Pauri and Uttarkashi districts. These teams will regularly collect samples of milk, sweets, oil, spices, beverages, and other items from the pandals and send them to laboratories for testing. If any sample does not meet the standards, the concerned place will be closed immediately.
Additional Commissioner of Food Safety and Drug Administration Tajbar Singh Jaggi stated that the government has made it clear that no leniency will be shown to those conducting food business without a license. Those who adulterate or violate the rules will face penalties as well as criminal action.
According to the statement, the government has implemented strict arrangements to provide pure and safe food to the devotees during the Kanwar Yatra 2025. Health Secretary and Commissioner of the Food Safety and Drug Administration, R. Rajesh Kumar, stated that in this regard, some important mandatory instructions have been issued to all hotels, dhabas, carts, and other food vendors operating on the travel routes. Every food trader will have to put a clean copy of their license or registration certificate in a prominent place in their establishment so that consumers can easily see it. (ANI)

'Apart from that, the medical college infrastructure has also increased. 75,000 new MBBS seats have been added. Every district now has a medical college, and the number of medical seats is rising... Earlier on Sunday, Union Health Minister JP Nadda and Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta distributed appointment letters to 1400 nurses. CM Gupta said that the government is making efforts to tackle the shortage of medical staff and medicines. Rekha Gupta told the reporters, 'It is a matter of great joy that, after many years in the history of the Delhi government, appointment letters for permanent nursing staff have been distributed by the government. F For years, due to a shortage of staff, Delhi's hospitals have been running in a disorganised manner. Air India's Riyadh-Delhi flight diverted to Jaipur due to bad weather
Jaipur (Rajasthan) [India], July 7 (ANI): Air India flight AI 926, operating from Riyadh to Delhi, was diverted to Jaipur International Airport late Sunday night due to adverse weather conditions in the national capital. The flight was originally scheduled to land at Delhi's Indira Gandhi International Airport (IGI) at around 1 am on July 7. However, inclement weather in Delhi forced the aircraft to be rerouted to Jaipur. According to sources, after the landing at Jaipur, passengers were offered alternative flight options to reach Delhi. However, they opted for road transportation instead. The passengers have since disembarked and departed from Jaipur to Delhi by road. Earlier on July 4, an Air India flight from Bengaluru to Delhi was delayed after a medical emergency involving one of its pilots. Flight AI2414 was set to depart on schedule, but the rostered pilot fell ill just before takeoff and was immediately taken to a local hospital. In a statement, an Air India spokesperson confirmed the incident, saying, 'There was a medical emergency involving one of our pilots in the early hours of 04 July. As a result, the pilot was unable to operate the flight AI2414 from Bengaluru to Delhi, which he was rostered for, and was taken to a local hospital immediately. The airline assured that the pilot is now in stable condition and remains under the care of medical professionals. He is currently stable but continues to be under the supervision of doctors at the same hospital, the spokesperson added. To minimize disruption, the airline arranged for another cockpit crew member to operate the flight. 'Consequently, AI2414 was delayed and operated by another member of our cockpit crew', the statement noted. Air India said its immediate focus is on the well-being of the pilot and providing support to his family. 'Our immediate priority is to assist the pilot and his family to ensure his speedy recovery', the spokesperson said. The flight, originally scheduled to depart at 03:05 am, was delayed and eventually took off at 04:52 am after another pilot was arranged. It landed in Delhi at 07:21 am, nearly 90 minutes behind the scheduled arrival time of 05:55 am, according to in the day, Air India denied allegations of coercing families of victims of the AI-171 accident into signing documents about their financial dependency on the deceased to reduce compensation payouts. UP govt mandates QR licences for food vendors during Kanwar Yatra
As the Kanwar Yatra begins on July 11, the Uttar Pradesh government has introduced a new digital measure to strengthen food safety: all food vendors along the pilgrimage route will now be required to display QR-code-based licences and complaint details. These QR codes, linked to the Food Safety Connect App, will allow pilgrims to instantly verify hygiene approvals and report unsafe practices. Kanwariyas (Shiva devotees) carry pots filled with water collected from Gangariver during the annual 'Kanwar Yatra'.(ANI) Food Safety and Drug Administration (FSDA) commissioner Rajesh Kumar, in a circular to regional officers, ordered 'uncompromising vigilance' at food stalls, roadside vendors, and bhandaras (community kitchens). He warned that any lapse in hygiene enforcement would lead to disciplinary action against officials. Under the updated protocol, food stalls and kitchens along the Kanwar Yatra route will undergo round-the-clock inspections. Health officials will conduct daily sampling, with the power to take immediate action against those found to be flouting food safety norms. 'Pilgrims come here for spiritual healing, not food poisoning,' a senior FSDA officer said, underlining that even voluntary kitchens will be subject to routine checks. The integration of QR codes aims to increase transparency and accountability. Pilgrims can scan the code to verify if a vendor is licensed and view complaint information. Any reported violations will be tracked through the Food Safety Connect App, giving devotees a direct channel to raise concerns. Alongside health surveillance, the government will continue to enforce the existing ban on meat and egg sales along the route, maintaining religious sanctity during the Yatra. The FSDA is working with district officials, police, and civic bodies to carry out waste disposal drives, crack down on unlicensed vendors, and deploy mobile food testing labs. Officials confirmed that many of the food safety protocols initiated during last year's Yatra are being reinstated to ensure continuity. Assistant FSDA Commissioner (Lucknow) VP Singh said, 'This shift in approach reflects a broader trend, where large-scale religious gatherings are increasingly being seen through the dual lens of faith and public safety. Clean food, potable water, and medical oversight are no longer optional; they are essential.'
