But a death certificate obtained by TMZ now says the official cause was a combination of acute respiratory failure, pancreatic cancer and aspiration pneumonia.
Additional contributing causes included acute renal failure and acute tubular necrosis, indicating severe kidney damage.
Ronald died at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles, and news of his passing has left the pop superstar — currently pregnant with her third child — heartbroken.
An insider told the Daily Mail: 'Robyn has had a very difficult relationship with her father over the years but his death has hit her like a ton of bricks.
'Being pregnant and dealing with ASAP's legal woes have been an emotional roller coaster for her the last few months, and to add to it all, her dad was getting sick, and it started to become too much.
'As much as you realize that something like this is occurring, it is still completely heartbreaking and that is where she is right now.'
Despite years of ups and downs, the source said the dad and daughter found peace in Ronald's final days.
'She has forgiven her father and, in death, they got back to a loving father and daughter relationship,' they added.
Rihanna was reportedly by her dad's side at the hospital when he died.
Her partner A$AP Rocky also rushed to be by her side after her father's passing.
Rihanna and Ronald's relationship was complex and often turbulent.
In 2009, she revealed the two hadn't spoken in over a year after he 'embarrassed' her while on tour.
She said at the time: 'He disrespected some people on the bus and I didn't like that, so I kind of just let him go back home.'
The pop icon also expressed disappointment after her dad gave media interviews in the wake of her assault by then-boyfriend Chris Brown.
'He kind of did something that was really upsetting. He turned his back on me and went to the media,' she said.
In 2019, the singer sued her father for using the Fenty name to promote his company.
But she dropped the lawsuit two years later, reportedly reaching a settlement.
Ronald, who battled addiction for years, was once kicked off Rihanna's tour bus in 2008 for drunken behaviour, and later booted from her Diamond Ball in 2014 after falling over drunk on the red carpet.
Despite these struggles, Rihanna supported him through a $58,000 rehab program in Malibu and even bought him a house in Barbados.
During the COVID-19 pandemic, Ronald revealed that Rihanna checked in on him daily and even sent him a ventilator after he tested positive for the virus.
'I thought I was going to die to be honest. I have to say, I love you so much, Robyn,' he told The Sun in 2020.
By 2022, the two were on better terms.
Ronald told Page Six he was 'ecstatic' to learn his daughter was expecting her first child with A$AP Rocky.
'I'm so happy that I jumped for joy. I'm still so excited,' he said.
'She's going to be a good mom.'
Ronald shared Rihanna, along with sons Rajad and Rorrey, with his ex-wife Monica Braithwaite.
He also had three other children — Kandy, Samantha, and Jamie — from previous relationships.

1000lb Sisters star Tammy Slaton reveals she's ENGAGED just two months after going public with girlfriend Andrea Dalton
1000lb Sisters star Tammy Slaton has revealed she's engaged to Andrea Dalton just two months after the couple went public. Tammy, 38 - whose sister Amy, 37, announced she was engaged only last month - let the news slip during an appearance the Creative Chaos podcast on Tuesday. Speaking about how her and Andrea like to spend time together, Tammy explained: 'Me and my fiancée, we just kind of chill at home.' The revelation prompted a shocked response from host Hunter Ezell: 'Hold on, you said fiancée?', before the television star showed off her shiny new engagement ring. Tammy was also proudly sporting an 'Andrea' necklace, later revealing that her and her love interest have been together for 'around three years'. It comes just a couple of months after Tammy - who has lost a staggering 500 pounds - made public her relationship with a woman. Admitting that she hadn't broken the news to her family because 'they'd have something to say about it', the 38-year-old revealed: 'Amy's not the only one that's seeing somebody new. So have I.... 'I have been seeing someone for the past couple months and it's going pretty well.' She added: 'The person I'm dating is a woman. So I haven't told my family because my family's gonna have something to say about it.' 'I think my family probably has more opinions than the world has a**holes because they be farting so much.' After hearing the news during an episode of 1000-Lb Sisters however, Tammy's mother voiced her support for her daughter, saying: 'If Andrea genuinely cares for Tammy and makes her happy, then I'll be happy with her.' Tammy and Andrea, who both live in Kentucky, met on a dating app and have 'talked every day since'. 2025 has indeed proved to have been a happy year for the Slaton family thus far, after Tammy's sister Amy announced her engagement to Brian Lovvorn just a couple of months ago. Amy spoke about her fiancée's proposal during a recent episode of their show, saying: 'Originally, he slipped a green apple Ring Pop on my finger while I was asleep, about two weeks into our relationship. 'I was shocked at first, and I said yes but only if the real proposal was in a haunted house on Halloween.' Just five months after they began dating, Brian made that proposal a reality as he got down on one knee with a gothic ring. Amy recalled the proposal: 'He said something about, "my love for you is crazy, it's scary how compatible we are". 'Just like our matching tattoos say, "scary love".' News of her sister Tammy's engagement comes two years after her husband Caleb Willingham died of an unknown cause at the age of 40. Tammy revealed in an interview following his passing that she no longer had an interest in dating men. 'A few years ago I came out as pansexual but after Caleb passing,' she explained,' I just don't want to be with men anymore. 'I don't know how my family's going to react when I tell them I'm seeing a woman.' Last year Tammy opened up about the moment she found out that Caleb had passed away. During an interview with People, Tammy revealed a friend of Caleb's told her over text message that her husband wasn't doing well - before he informed her just 20 minutes later that he had died. At the time, Tammy was at her home in Kentucky and Caleb was at the Ohio rehab facility she had previously been at with him. 'I was sitting in the fetal position,' she told the publication. 'I got a text message from his friend up there and the text said, 'Caleb's not doing good. They're in there working on him.' 20 minutes later he texted me back and said he was gone. The TLC star also said she had been 'doing fairly well' getting through the tragedy, and had even made a ring and musical note-shaped necklace with the ashes of her late husband. She had grown attached to the jewelry and finds comfort knowing a piece of him remains with her. 'He's going to live on now forever because his memory is encapsulated,' Tammy said. 'Knowing that he's with me, it's helping me pass the day. I find myself grabbing my necklace and holding it a lot. When I take off my jewelry, I feel like it's weird, separation anxiety. I start panicking.' Watching Caleb on their show has also provided her with some joy: 'Every time I miss him, I can always look back at the show and watch it and see what made me happy again.'

Jeff Bezos and Lauren Sanchez wedding is 'more Vegas than Versailles' and is 'undermining the couple's aspirational brand', expert says
With just hours to go before Jeff Bezos and Lauren Sanchez make a lifelong commitment in a nuptial that hasn't spared a penny in it's planning, many will be left wondering how to glitzy but controversial ceremony will impact the couple's reputation. A union like no other, the couple have exceeded all expectation in planning one of the most extravagant ceremonies of all time - but many have raised eyebrows over some of the gaudier displays included in their Venice celebrations. According to branding and PR expert, Chad Teixeira, rather than opting for 'timeless elegance', the festivities have 'veered into spectacle that's more Vegas than Versailles.' With inflatable crocodiles, foam and pyjama parties, and a plethora of 'gimmicks' without 'grace', Bezos and Sanchez 's multi-million dollar wedding plans 'risk undermining the couple's aspirational brand', the expert warned. Amazon chief Bezos, 61, and former journalist Lauren, 55, are the latest in a string of celebrity couples to stage a multi-day extravaganza in Europe. Among the rumoured 200 guests are Kim Kardashian, Ivanka Trump and Orlando Bloom. Their six-day celebration is reminiscent of Amal and George Clooney 's Venetian wedding and to Kim Kardashian and Kanye West 's bash - but has found itself the source of much controversy. Dubbed 'the wedding of the century', the union has continued to make headlines in the runup to the official ceremony, with locals in Venice, where is it due to take place, vehemently protesting the lavish, all-American nuptial. 'As one of the richest men in the world, you'd expect Jeff Bezos ' wedding to be the epitome of refinement,' said Chad, who believed the wedding was more of a 'billionaire stag weekend in disguise.' Bezos is worth around $224.6 billion and is thought to be spending tens of millions on his wedding. Ahead of the wedding, the couple were even forced to change the location of their venue after protesters, calling themselves the 'No Space for Bezos' group, threatened to fill the canals of Venice with inflatable crocodiles - despite planners denying that the nuptial would 'take over Venice'. 'Shutting down a city like Venice might seem like a power move, but in reality, it plays as tone-deaf. In the current climate of wealth scrutiny and rising anti-billionaire sentiment, this kind of performative excess can alienate rather than impress. The optics are less about love and more about domination. It's not the only detail to have altered the tone of the otherwise exorbitant wedding celebrations. Kicking things off earlier this week, the two enjoyed a foam party on Bezos' $500 million Koru yacht off the coast of Italy. Both were pictured frolicking around on the vessel as bubbles were jetted towards them and a group of close friends. 'The foam party and inflatable crocodiles feel more Ibiza club night than ultra-luxe wedding weekend,' Chad said. It's not the only celebration that Chad said blurred 'the lines between fashion-forward and costume party'. Guests are due to attend various different themed parties as part of the festivities, including a pyjama themed bash and a Great Gatsby party, according to sources. Kicking things off earlier this week, the two enjoyed a foam party on Bezos' $500 million Koru yacht off the coast of Italy. Both were pictured frolicking around on the vessel as bubbles were jetted towards them and a group of close friends 'These elements might appeal to their inner circle, but publicly, they risk undermining the couple's aspirational brand. When you've got the world watching, frivolity can read as frivolousness,' Chad said. 'When you start mixing foam parties with inflatable crocodiles and corset dress codes, it raises eyebrows. 'This isn't a power couple protecting their brand; it's a billionaire stag weekend in disguise.' According to the expert, rather than reflecting the pair's high values, their tastes for extravagance shows 'a lack of restraint'. 'From a branding perspective, every element of a high-profile wedding, from the invite to the itinerary - should reflect the couple's identity and values. 'In this case, the invite and themed parties suggest not luxury, but a lack of restraint. It's branding by chaos: too many gimmicks, not enough grace. 'Luxury isn't loud. The 'tacky-chic' styling of the hen do and the sleepover-style celebrations blur the lines between fashion-forward and costume party. For someone like Lauren Sánchez, who's tried to position herself as both glamorous and grounded, it dilutes the message. Style should enhance your brand, not make it a meme. 'This isn't just about personal taste, it's about legacy. Bezos is at a point in his life where every move, every photo, feeds into how history will view him. Right now, the wedding doesn't say 'iconic love story.' The wedding has stirred strong reactions from locals and well as environmental groups around the word The wedding has stirred strong reactions from locals and well as environmental groups around the word. Greenpeace and the UK-based collective Everyone Hates Elon have joined protests in Venice attempting to disrupt, or even prevent, the planned wedding celebrations of Amazon founder Bezos this week. 'Jeff Bezos is the second-richest man in the world yet is reported to pay a 1.1 percent true tax rate,' the two groups said in a joint statement. 'The multi-million-dollar wedding is reportedly happening over three days, with the wedding ring alone worth as much as $5million.' Venice mayor Luigi Brugnaro and regional governor Luca Zaia have spoken out in favor of the nuptials, which have been dubbed, 'the wedding of the century,' pointing out that the celebrations are expected to bring $23-34million to local businesses. 'This is a city that handles 150,000 people a day,' Zaia told Italian daily Corriere della Sera. 'George Clooney, François-Henri Pinault and Salma Hayek, Alexandre Arnault, Elton John and many others got married here.' The celebrations are expected to kick off on Thursday and end on Saturday. But the historic venue that Bezos and Sanchez chose for part of their $20 million bash is covered in scaffolding, MailOnline can reveal. The lavish three-day event will feature a party held within the fabulous 15th-century Madonna dell'Orto church in Venice's quaint Cannareggio district tomorrow night. Venice City Hall issued a directive on Wednesday cordoning off the area, isolating guests from activists who have been protesting for weeks that the celebrations will turn the city of gondolas and palazzi into a private amusement park for the rich. Bezos, who remains the executive chair of e-commerce giant Amazon and sits at number 4 on Forbes' billionaires list, got engaged to Sanchez in 2023, four years after the collapse of his 25-year marriage to Mackenzie Scott. In preparation, security guards have now blocked off entrances to the closure where the party will be held, but what guests will first see when they arrive is the iconic bell tower covered in scaffolding.

Jake Paul storms out of Piers Morgan interview in heated clash
Jake Paul angrily stormed off an interview with Piers Morgan following a heated exchange. The YouTube star, who is due to fight Julio Cesar Chavez Jr in Anaheim on Saturday (28 June), was confronted by Morgan over his boxing credentials. Paul said: 'I think the problem here Piers is that you think your opinion matters.' Morgan continued: 'The only proper boxer you fought was Tommy Fury and he beat you. Pete Tyson you wouldn't have lasted 10 seconds.' The 28-year-old then hung up the call, as a bemused Morgan said: 'Cheers Jake, really enjoyed that, and good luck to Julio - knock him out for all of us will you?'
