Amazon launches Alexa-powered Echo Show 5 (3rd generation) display in India
Amazon has rolled out its Echo Show 5 (3rd generation) smart display in the Indian market. This latest version includes a 5.5-inch display, an upgraded speaker system offering double the bass of the previous model, and a built-in camera to support video calls and home surveillance. It continues to support Alexa and now includes a faster processor for improved performance.
Microsoft has rolled out a new Copilot Mode in its Edge browser, introducing AI-based features meant to assist users during web browsing. This feature needs to be manually activated. Once enabled, users can search, ask questions, and interact with websites through Microsoft Copilot, which is now embedded into the browser itself. Based on its current capabilities, Copilot Mode is positioned between early-stage AI tools in Chrome and more advanced options in browsers like Perplexity's Comet.
Reliance Jio has introduced JioPC, a cloud-based virtual desktop service that can convert any television into a personal computer. Operating through the Jio set-top box, the service eliminates the need for a traditional CPU by leveraging cloud infrastructure. Launched in India, JioPC follows a pay-as-you-go pricing model, with no upfront lock-in fees and no maintenance requirements. The service is currently available at a starting price of ₹600 per month.
Lenovo has introduced the Legion Pro 34WD-10 OLED monitor in India, expanding its range of displays tailored for gamers and content creators. This model sports a 34-inch ultra-wide curved OLED screen with a UWQHD resolution of 3440x1440 pixels. Lenovo states the monitor ensures exceptionally fast response times with no noticeable motion blur, making it well-suited for esports and high-frame-rate gaming scenarios.
Epson, the Japanese imaging firm, has released two new portable laser projectors in India—the EpiqVision Mini EF-22N and EF-21W. The round was led by Nexus Venture Partners, with continued support from existing backers Titan Capital and WEH Ventures. Positioning itself as the first line of defense for Digital India, Mitigata offers a full-stack platform that integrates security, risk, compliance, and cyber insurance. The company is targeting Indian enterprises, regulated entities, and critical infrastructure providers facing escalating cyber threats. The funding will accelerate the development of Mitigata's AI-powered security and risk management platform. It will also help enhance its suite of cyber resilience services and scale operations across major Indian cities and international markets. 'Most businesses still treat cyber insurance and security as separate cost centers, often relying on fragmented vendors and siloed solutions,' said Mohit Anand, co-founder and CEO of Mitigata. GHMC partners with Google for GenAI pilot
The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) has partnered with Google to launch a Generative AI-based pilot project aimed at solving key civic challenges and improving citizen services across the city. Describing it as a 'groundbreaking move', a statement from GHMC said a virtual meeting was convened on Monday to discuss the road map of the project, attended by Secretary, Metropolitan Area & Urban Development Department, K. Ilambarithi, GHMC Commissioner R.V. Karnan, Additional Commissioner Anuraag Jayanti and a senior representative from Google. The GenAI pilot will explore futuristic, tech-driven solutions to common urban issues and focus on creating a responsive and intelligent city administration, it said. Key areas of focus include AI-enabled government and citizen services, GenAI-powered search bar for government services, conversational chatbots and AI search tools for government employees, AI-based citizen enquiry classification system, blockchain-enabled verifiable credentials for government-to-citizen services, AI-based tender evaluation system, smart parking management using AI, solid waste management optimisation using AI, automated form filing for public applications, real time tracking of public buses via Google Maps, AI driven road safety and traffic models, citywide health analytics platform, AI monitoring of dumping into lakes, and AI for vector borne disease detection and prevention among several others. This collaboration marks a milestone in GHMC's digital transformation journey. Once tested successfully, these AI tools will be scaled city-wide, enabling Hyderabad to serve as a national model for smart, tech-powered urban living, the statement averred.
