"Dear RCB family, Last night was something words will never fully do justice to, but I will try, because the heart deserves to speak when it is full.
As I walked into the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad, the sun had already dipped below the skyline, but it felt like the red of RCB still lit up the horizon. A neutral venue, they said, but when I heard the roar, saw the jerseys, the flags, the faces painted with red and gold, I knew this was home.
"
De Villiers mentioned that despite being in Western India, the atmosphere felt like their home ground M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru.
"What I witnessed was not just a cricket match, but a culmination. A culmination of belief, heartbreaks, near misses, miracles, and an undying loyalty that no trophy, until now, had been able to reward. But last night, it happened. RCB, the team that became family to me, are the champions of the IPL. Well, it feels good to say that."

The former RCB star shared a special moment with
during the match. "And then, as if the night hadn't already stirred every emotion, there was Virat, standing at long off, right in front of me.

Our eyes met for a brief moment, and that was all it took. We did not need words. In that quiet exchange, everything was understood. The years, the near misses, the weight we had both carried for this dream. There were tears, yes, but more than that, there was a deep, unspoken knowing.
We have shared countless innings, conversations, and battles together, but the words he spoke after the game, the way he acknowledged our journey, contributions, and shared memories, it touched a part of me that few things in this game ever have.
That moment reminded me. It is not about the numbers."

De Villiers expressed pride in seeing young players like Rajat Patidar and Devdutt Padikkal succeed on the big stage.
"To the RCB management, to the coaching staff, to the ever loyal fans, and to every single player who's worn this jersey, thank you for allowing me to be a part of this beautiful legacy. Even though I was not out there batting last night, a piece of my heart always will be.
This title means more because of the journey that came before it, and for me, this will always be one of the greatest joys of my life. Seeing the team I love finally lift their trophy.
With all my love, pride, and gratitude, you Mr. 360."
In the final match, RCB posted 190/9 in 20 overs after being put in to bat. Virat Kohli scored 43, while Rajat Patidar (26), Jitesh Sharma (24), and Liam Livingstone (25) made valuable contributions.
Arshdeep Singh and Kyle Jamieson took three wickets each for PBKS.
Chasing 191, PBKS managed 184/7 despite efforts from Priyansh Arya (24), Prabhsimran (26), Josh Inglis (39), and Shashank Singh's unbeaten 61. Krunal Pandya's impressive bowling figures of 2/17 earned him the Player of the Match award.
This was PBKS's second IPL final appearance and their first in 11 years, but their wait for the trophy continues.

US Open Golf: JJ Spaun seizes early lead as Scottie Scheffler, Rory McIlroy struggle

JJ Spaun celebrates after making a putt on the eighth hole during the first round of the US Open golf tournament at Oakmont Country Club. (AP) Oakmont: J.J. Spaun matched the best first round in a US Open at Oakmont to grab a one-stroke lead after 18 holes while Scottie Scheffler and Rory McIlroy were among many stars who struggled. Spaun defied Oakmont's fearsome reputation by conjuring a bogey-free, four-under par 66 -- his lowest round in nine major championship starts. Go Beyond The Boundary with our YouTube channel. SUBSCRIBE NOW! The 34-year-old American equaled the lowest first round of any US Open at Oakmont, a 66 by American Andrew Landry in 2016, producing only the eighth bogey-free US Open round at the Pennsylvania club hosting for a record 10th time. "I'm just overly pleased with how I started," Spaun said. "I hit a lot of good shots and tried to capitalise on any birdie opportunities, which aren't very many out here. "But I scrambled really well, too, which is a huge component to playing well at a US Open, let alone shoot a bogey-free round." — usopengolf (@usopengolf) Spaun started on the back nine, birdied four of his first eight holes, then parred his way to the clubhouse, his first-nine 31 a best for an Oakmont US Open. "This is probably one of my better putting rounds all season," Spaun said. He salvaged pars after finding the Church Pew bunker at the fourth hole and a bunker at the sixth. "Those are huge, especially at a US Open, to keep your round going and not go the other way," Spaun said. South African Thriston Lawrence was second on 67 with South Koreans Kim Si-woo and Im Sung-jae on 68 with five-time major winner Brooks Kopeka. "I definitely think it was gettable," Koepka said of the course. American Koepka sank a 42-foot eagle putt at the fourth, made bogeys at the 10th and 14th holes then closed with back-to-back birdies from five feet at 17 and 16 feet at 18. "I played pretty consistent, drove it really well," Koepka said. "Iron play was pretty good. When I did miss it, I felt like I missed it in the correct spots." World number one Scheffler, trying to win back-to-back majors after taking the PGA Championship in May, endured a roller-coaster round of 73 with three birdies and six bogeys -- his worst opening major round to par. "I made some silly mistakes out there," Scheffler said. "But at the same time, I made some key putts and some good momentum saves -- overall just need to be a little sharper." Scheffler, whose nine wins last year included Paris Olympic gold, has won three of his past four starts. Second-ranked McIlroy, who completed a career Grand Slam by winning the Masters, shot 74. The back-nine starter birdied 11 and 12 but made four bogeys and a double bogey on his second nine. Defending champion Bryson DeChambeau shot 73 with five bogeys and two birdies. "Pretty disappointed with how I played," DeChambeau said. Six-time US Open runner-up Phil Mickelson, who turns 55 on Monday, opened with a 74 in his bid to complete a career Grand Slam. Im briefly had the solo lead at five-under but three bogeys in his last seven holes derailed him. "I played five-under but ended up at two-under," Im said. "I planned to shoot under par, so I made the goal." Two-time major winner Jon Rahm was in a pack on 69. "I'm extremely happy," the Spaniard said. "I played some incredible golf to shoot one-under." Reed makes an albatross American Patrick Reed made the fourth albatross in US Open history with a three-wood from the fairway from 286 yards on the fourth hole -- the first at any major since Nick Watney in the 2012 US Open at Olympic Club. "Just happened to be a perfect spot, perfect club," Reed said. "For it to go obviously is a bonus." Ireland's Shane Lowry holed out from 160 yards out in the fairway for the first US Open eagle at Oakmont's third hole, but it was his lone bright spot in shooting 79. American Maxwell Moldovan made the first US Open eagle at the first, holing out from the fairway from 189 yards, then looking to the heavens with a smile. He fired a 76. js/bb

(Getty Images) Swedish pole vaulter Armand 'Mondo' Duplantis secured victory at the Diamond League meet in Oslo on Thursday, setting a new meet record of 6.15 meters in favourable weather conditions at the Bislett Stadium, continuing his dominance in the sport where he holds the world record of 6.27 meters. The US-born athlete, who won Olympic gold and broke the world record three times in 2024, maintains his position as the sport's leading figure, having recorded the 11 highest jumps in history. Go Beyond The Boundary with our YouTube channel. SUBSCRIBE NOW! Duplantis was named Laureus World Sportsman of the Year for 2024, becoming only the second track and field athlete after Usain Bolt to receive this honour. "I am very satisfied. To get a stadium record here was in my plans after a few visits here with difficult conditions. It was great to finally get the right conditions tonight," Duplantis said. The competition began with Duplantis entering at 5.62 meters, while three competitors - Sondre Guttormsen, Ben Broeders, and Ernest John Obiena - failed to clear their initial heights. At 5.72 meters, three more vaulters - Sam Kendricks, Menno Vloon, and Ersu Sasma - were eliminated, while Renaud Lavillenie cleared the height on his final attempt before withdrawing. Duplantis and Emmanouil Karalis successfully cleared 5.82 meters on their first attempts, while Kurtis Marschall failed to progress. Karalis was eliminated after three unsuccessful attempts at 5.92 meters, leaving Duplantis as the sole competitor. T he Swedish champion cleared 6.03 meters on his third attempt, surpassing his own 2022 meet record by one centimeter, before successfully vaulting 6.15 meters. "It did get cooler so that was why I stopped jumping. On Sunday in Stockholm it would be an absolute dream to break the world record. In fact I could retire if I do! At the moment the forecast is good for Sunday and I am feeling good, I am in good shape and tonight shows I am jumping well so who knows, it may be possible. I need to build on tonight and get ready now for the big one," Duplantis stated. The victory adds to Duplantis's impressive Diamond League record, where he has lost only four times in 40 meetings since 2020. His world record progression has been methodical, improving one centimeter at a time from 6.17 to 6.27 meters.

2 arrested for taking ₹24 lakh from youngster promising selection in IPL team

Belagavi police arrested two persons from Uttar Pradesh on the charge of defrauding a young cricketer from Belagavi. Susanjan and Diwakar, both around 25, were arrested from their hometown in Sultanpur district of Uttar Pradesh. This followed a long and detailed investigation by the Belagavi police. They face charges of collecting over ₹24 lakh from the family of Rakesh Yadure of Chinchani near Chikkodi. They had lied to the young sportsperson's family that they would get him selected to the Rajasthan Royals IPL cricket team. The boy comes from a humble background. His father, a security guard, took loans to pay the conmen. Superintendent of Police Bheemashankar S. Guled told reporters in Belagavi on June 12 that Susanjan had previously cheated two others using a similar modus operandi, while Diwakar appeared to be a first-time offender. Mr. Yadure, 19, had excelled in a cricket match in Hyderabad in May 2024. He posted photos and videos of the match on Instagram. The fraudsters, claiming to be selectors from the IPL team, sent him friend requests, and said he was under consideration. In December 2024, Mr. Yadure received a message claiming he had been shortlisted for the IPL team. The message included a link to a 'registration form' and requested an initial payment of ₹2,000. Over the next few months — between December 22, 2024, and April 19, 2025 — Mr. Yadure's father made multiple payments totalling ₹23.53 lakh. The duo promised fees ranging from ₹40,000 to ₹8 lakh per match. The cricketer's family filed a complaint with the Cyber, Economic, and Narcotics (CEN) Police Station on May 17 this year. Dr. Guled advised people, especially the youth, to be cautious of such scams. 'We urge citizens, especially youngsters, not to fall for online claims of sports selection, jobs, or cash rewards. Always verify such claims,' he said.
