KUALA TERENGGANU: Five students from Mara Junior Science College (MRSM) Besut have been remanded for three days starting today in connection with a bullying incident at the school. The remand order, issued by Senior Assistant Registrar Yuhanis Mohd Roslan at the Magistrate's Court here, will expire this Sunday.
The students, aged between 15 and 17, are being investigated under Section 147 of the Penal Code for rioting. According to Besut police chief Supt Azamuddin Ahmad @ Abu, a Form Two student lodged a police report alleging he was assaulted by several Form Three students around 11.30 pm last Tuesday. The victim suffered abdominal pain, right rib discomfort, and bruises on his back.
A dormitory warden discovered the incident and immediately contacted the victim's family to arrange medical treatment. Authorities are continuing investigations into the case.

Housemate stabbed to death over messy room in Sungai Buloh

SUNGAI BULOH: An argument over a messy room is believed to have led to a fatal altercation between two housemates, resulting in one man being stabbed to death at a house in Kampung Kubu Gajah, Sungai Pelong. Sungai Buloh district police chief Superintendent Mohd Hafiz Muhammad Nor said both men had moved from Kelantan about six months ago and had been living together since. "Initial investigations showed that an argument broke out between them over a domestic issue involving a messy room. "During the fight, the 33-year-old victim was fatally stabbed with a knife by the 40-year-old suspect," he said today. He added that a urine test showed the suspect tested positive for drugs. The suspect has been remanded for six days until July 1 to assist in investigations under Section 302 of the Penal Code for murder. It was reported yesterday that the victim, who had recently moved from Kelantan, was found dead with a stab wound to the chest, believed to be the result of a dispute with his housemate.

Unemployed woman loses RM62,000 in phone scam to ‘TNG rep' and ‘Perak cop'

JERTIH, June 27—A woman lost RM62,000 after being duped by a phone scam syndicate posing as a police officer yesterday afternoon. Besut district police chief Supt Azamuddin Ahmad @ Abu said the 19-year-old unemployed woman answered a phone call belonging to her father from an individual who introduced himself as a representative from Touch 'n Go headquarters in Kuala Lumpur. 'The individual claimed that the victim's father had a RM25,000 summons related to a Touch 'n Go account, then the call was supposedly connected to the Perak police contingent headquarters and spoke to a police officer. 'The victim was further shocked when he was told her that a bank account had been opened in her father's name involved in a money laundering and drug case,' he said in a statement today. Azamuddin said the suspect asked the victim to pay RM60,000 if she wanted to clear his name and because she was afraid, the victim sold jewellery belonging to her mother, who is a retired teacher, to get money for the payment as instructed. The case is being investigated under Section 420 of the Penal Code, he said. — Bernama
