Five Dean Huijsen alternatives for Premier League teams
Real Madrid have won the race to sign Dean Huijsen from Bournemouth, securing the coveted centre-back ahead of Premier League clubs.
The Spanish side beat competition from the Premier League to land the 20-year-old, activating his £50m release clause. A number of England's elite were actively pursuing Huijsen, but will now look to alternatives in the market.
We've picked out five intriguing options who could be Dean Huijsen alternatives for Premier League teams.
RB Leipzig have endured a disappointing campaign to miss out on European football. That blow could lead to major sales with Benjamin Sesko and Xavi Simons expected to move on. Joining them could be Castello Lukeba, the latest sought-after centre-back to impress in Leipzig.
The 22-yer-old has all the attributes required of a modern centre-back. He's spent time in a back four and back three, with the latter role requiring him to cover large spaces behind an attacking wing-back.

Lukeba's athletic capabilities allow him to defend well in wide areas when required, while he's front-footed when there is an opportunity to counter-press or carry. In terms of numbers, he ranks in the top 2% of centre-backs in Europe's top leagues for attempted take-ons and successful take-ons per 90 minutes.
The Frenchman has a release clause of €90m, though Leipzig would entertain offers in the region of €70m (£58.8m).
Marc Guehi's reputation has been on the rise across the last 12 months. After injuries provided an unexpected key role for England last summer, he impressed as the Three Lions reached the final of Euro 2024.
This season, he's again proven dependable for Crystal Palace and captained the club to FA Cup success – the club's first-ever major trophy. Palace have turned down bids of around £70m from Newcastle and Tottenham in recent transfer windows, but could be forced to cash in this summer. Guehi has just 12 months to run on his deal at Selhurst Park.

Still just 24, and with plenty of experience leading a Premier League side, Guehi could be a smart alternative to Huijsen as a left-sided centre-back.
Left-footed, comfortable on the ball, and with a attainable release clause, there's plenty of similarities between Huijsen and Piero Hincapie.
The latter has attracted admirers from across Europe after four solid seasons with Bayer Leverkusen. Hincapie was part of the Leverkusen side that won a German league and cup double without losing last season and has racked up 114 Bundesliga games and 44 international caps despite only turning 23 in January.
The Colombian centre-back has operated at full-back and on the left-hand side of a three-man central defence. His numbers, progressively, are particularly impressive. Hincapie ranks in the top 5% of centre-backs in Europe's top five leagues for progressive carries, crosses, and carries into the final third, and in the 93rd percentile for tackles won. His ability to stride forward has been a key part of Leverkusen's flexible system under Xabi Alonso.
A move has not been ruled out with a €60m release clause in his contract.
A Premier League proven option with plenty to like.
Murillo has been a monstrous presence in Nottingham Forest's unexpected European qualification, with the Brazilian a fantastic find. The 22-year-old had played just 13 league games for Corinthians when Forest made their move, a £12.6m deal that has paid dividends.

He was named the club's Player of the Season in 2023/24, before forming an excellent partnership with Nikola Milenkovic this time around. Murillo leads the Premier League for clearances (236) and successful take-on percentage (78.8%) and ranks second for blocks (67).
The broad-shouldered Brazilian combines strength and speed with raking long distribution and deceptively nimble footwork. Forest will want a huge offer for his services.
Goncalo Inacio has been regularly linked with England in recent transfer windows.
The Sporting centre-back has shone in back-to-back Primeira Liga triumphs for the Portuguese side and could move on in search of a new challenge.
Inacio ranks among the top 10 players in the Primeira Liga for progressive carrying distance (1st), passes into the final third (2nd), touches (4th), progressive passes (5th) and pass completion (10th). In addition, the 23-year-old's shown his goalscoring threat with six goals across all competitions.
Excellent on the ball, the measure of Inacio will come with a move to a top-five league and, perhaps, performances as part of a back four. Manchester United and former Sportin boss Ruben Amorim have been linked.

Minor given one-year stadium ban after racist abuse of Barcelona's Lamine Yamal in El Clasico
A minor has been given a one-year stadium ban for directing racist abuse towards Barcelona's Lamine Yamal during El Clasico in October. The individual has also been given '30 hours of socio-educational tasks', according to La Liga. Videos from the game on social media appeared to show Yamal, 17, being subjected to racist abuse from Real Madrid fans in the stands at the Bernabeu while preparing to take a corner and after his goal in Barca's 4-0 win against rivals Real Madrid. Advertisement La Liga also reported instances of alleged racist abuse towards Barcelona's Raphinha and Ansu Fati to the national police. Barcelona, Madrid and La Liga all condemned the abuse, with the league adding that it would 'request lip expertise on the reported images in order to identify the insults made' against Yamal, Raphinha and Fati. Three people were subsequently arrested in November for what La Liga described as 'violating the dignity and moral integrity of two footballers'. In a statement on Tuesday, La Liga said: 'The minor identified, following the complaint by La Liga as one of the perpetrators of the racist insults, has admitted the facts and accepted, within the framework of the proceedings of the Office of the Public Prosecution for Minors, the imposition of 30 hours of socio-educational tasks.' The individual is prohibited from entering 'any of the stadiums where official football competitions are held for a period of one year'. La Liga also requested that the individual provide a written apology to Yamal. Madrid confirmed after the game that it had identified those responsible for the 'deplorable and despicable insults' before 'appropriate disciplinary and judicial action can be taken.' Madrid forward Vinicius Junior, who has also been subjected to racist abuse in Spain, condemned the incident on social media. — Vini Jr. (@vinijr) October 27, 2024 'Real Madrid strongly condemns any kind of behaviour involving racism, xenophobia or violence in football and sport, and deeply regrets the insults that a few fans uttered last night in one of the corners of the stadium,' the club said in a statement at the time. Last month, five supporters were given suspended prison sentences and fined for racist chants directed at Vinicius Jr during a match against Real Valladolid in a landmark ruling that saw the individuals convicted of a hate crime. It was the first time that racist chanting in a stadium had met this definition in a Spanish court. ()

Juventus keeps faith in Tudor as coach and PSG's Kolo Muani staying for Club World Cup
TURIN, Italy (AP) — Juventus coach Igor Tudor is to stay in charge next season and French forward Randal Kolo Muani will play at the Club World Cup, the club's new general manager Damien Comolli said on Tuesday. Comolli, who took over at Juventus only this month, said talks with Tudor reached a positive conclusion after the Croatian coach previously voiced his displeasure with his status. Tudor guided Juventus to fourth place and the final Champions League spot after five wins in nine games in Serie A, but he was clearly unhappy with reports suggesting he would remain in charge only for the Club World Cup. 'Tudor will be our coach for the next season and not only for the Club World Cup,' said Comolli in his first press conference on Tuesday. Comolli, who is French, said he was very impressed by the intensity of Tudor's team when he first saw him in charge of Marseille in the 2022-23 season. Tudor, who played for Juventus from 1998-2007 also coached Udinese, Hellas Verona, and Lazio before taking over at Juventus from the unpopular Thiago Motta in March. 'What impressed me most was the resilience of his team, the physical and mental endurance of those players,' Comolli said of Tudor. Comolli said he reached an agreement for Kolo Muani's loan from Paris Saint-Germain to be extended for the Club World Cup while negotiations continue to extend the loan beyond the month-long competition starting in Miami on Saturday. Comolli said Kolo Muani, who scored eight goals in 18 games after joining Juventus in January, 'expressed his desire to continue his adventure in black and white.' Comolli was appointed on June 1, when Juventus also announced former club favorite Giorgio Chiellini was returning for a management position. 'He will have a strategic role. It will not only be a role focused on the field. He will also act outside,' Comolli said of Chiellini. 'He will be a key figure in the commercial field as well.' Comolli also said the club was looking for a new sporting director to take over from Cristiano Giuntoli and a new technical director. 'We want to take the time to choose the right people for these two key positions,' Comolli said. 'Having two distinct figures becomes very important because modern football is becoming increasingly global and the demands are increasing.' The 53-year-old Comolli has a wealth of experience after stints at Monaco, Arsenal, Saint-Étienne, Tottenham Hotspur, Liverpool, Fenerbahçe, and Toulouse. Juventus begins its Club World Cup against Al Ain of the United Arab Emirates, then faces Moroccan team Wydad Casablanca and Manchester City in Group G. ___ AP soccer:

Dortmund sign Jobe Bellingham from Sunderland in €38m transfer
Borussia Dortmund have completed the signing of Jobe Bellingham from Sunderland in a deal worth up to €38million (£32m; $43.3m). The Bundesliga side will pay an upfront fee of between €30m-€33m for the 19-year-old, with the remainder of the payment coming from potential add-ons. If those add-ons are triggered, which Sunderland anticipate but Dortmund view as less achievable, it would surpass the widely reported figure of €35m Dortmund paid Rennes to sign Ousmane Dembele in 2016 to become their club record signing. Hey, Jobe. — Borussia Dortmund (@BlackYellow) June 10, 2025 Sunderland will retain a 15 per cent sell-on clause for Bellingham, 19, as part of the deal which surpasses the sale of goalkeeper Jordan Pickford to Everton in 2017. Bellingham said farewell to Sunderland in a statement on his Instagram, signing off as an 'adopted mackem'. 'Dear Sunderland,' the midfielder said. 'It's time for me to say farewell to all the loyal people of Sunderland, who have powered me through two incredible years in red & white. Advertisement 'Your support, on so many occasions, has completely blown me away, especially in the times of adversity which we pulled through together. You welcomed me with open arms as a kid leaving home for the first time, and I am proud that our relationship has grown to be so strong ever since.' The statement went on to reiterate his affection for the supporters, staff and players as he said he will 'always represent Wearside in all that (he strives) to achieve for the rest of (his) career, wherever that may be'. A post shared by Jobe (@jobebellingham) Bellingham, had also attracted interest from fellow Bundesliga side Eintracht Frankfurt, follows in the footsteps of his older brother Jude who joined Dortmund as a 17-year-old in 2020 from Birmingham City. Jobe also came through Birmingham's youth academy, making 26 first-team appearances at the club, before establishing himself as a regular in Sunderland's midfielder across the past two seasons. Bellingham was a regular starter for Sunderland in 2024-25 as they won promotion back to the Premier League via the play-offs. The transfer is the second major exit of the summer for Sunderland, after winger Tom Watson joined Brighton & Hove Albion in a £10m move. ()
