Premier League footballer Diogo Jota and his brother, Andre Felipe, died in a crash in Zamora near Spain's north-west border with Portugal.
Romeo Beckham shared a passionate post about telling the people you love how much you appreciate them following the tragic death of Diogo Jota. The Premier League footballer and his brother, Andre Felipe, died in a crash in Zamora near Spain's north-west border with Portugal.
The tragic incident occurred just days after Jota's marriage to his childhood sweetheart, Rute Cardoso, who had to identify her husband and his brother after the devastating crash. After the news was made public, Romeo took to his Instagram to share a picture of the footballer along with a few heartbroken emojis.

He later returned to his Instagram Stories to send a cryptic message to his older brother, Brooklyn Beckham, telling him that 'the people that truly love you and care for you will always be there'.

The recent post comes amid a reported family feud between Brooklyn and his wife, Nicola Peltz, and the rest of the Beckham family.
Romeo wrote: "Life is too short, love who you love and tell them how much you really do! Life can flash before your eyes at any moment! But the people that truly love you and care for you will always be there...
"Don't hold back from LOVE OR APPRECIATION for ANYTHING OR ANYONE."
Piers Morgan also shared a tribute on social media. On Twitter /X, he wrote: "Desperately sad news coming out of Spain that Liverpool and Portugal star Diogo Jota, 28, has died, along with his brother, in a car accident in Zamora. He only got married 2 weeks ago. Heart-breaking."
Others paying respects on social media was footballer Harry Maguire's wife, Fern Maguire. She shared the Premier League's tribute as she wrote: "Utterly heartbreaking."

David Beckham also penned touching tribute over the top of a black-and-white image of the star in a Portugal game."Devastating to hear this such sad news.. Sending love to Diogo & Andre's families," he wrote.
Meanwhile, Brooklyn and Nicola sparked concern for the famous family when they failed to attend any of David's 50th birthday celebrations in May. They had even jetted into London from Los Angeles but decided to stay away from the special family events.

It proved just the start of distance forming for the Beckhams, as Brooklyn failed to reach out to his football icon dad when he received his long-awaited knighthood.
Father's Day also came and went without a murmur from the eldest son, with reports claiming he has stopped responding to his famous parents and siblings.

Saturday's briefing: Saying goodbye to Diogo Jota and England start Euros

Football will briefly take a back seat on Saturday as Diogo Jota and Andre Silva's family and friends gather to celebrate their lives. On the pitch, England and Wales both launch their Euro 2025 campaigns in Switzerland with the defending champions in action after Rhian Wilkinson's finals first-timers. Former Arsenal midfielder Thomas Partey is facing a court appearance after being charged with five counts of rape. Mourners pay respects to Diogo Jota The funeral of Liverpool striker Diogo Jota and his younger brother Andre Silva will take place in Portugal on Saturday morning. Mourners will gather to pay their respects to the two men at the Igreja Matriz de Gondomar at 10am a day after a wake was held at the nearby Capela da Ressurreicao. Jota, 28, and his 26-year-old brother died in a car crash in Zamora, Spain, in the early hours of Thursday morning. Their deaths prompted an outpouring of sympathy for Jota's wife Rute, who he married less than two weeks ago, their three children and the wider family from the football world and beyond. Lioness Leah raring to go England captain Leah Williamson revealed she finally felt free to let go of 'anxiety' on the eve of the Lionesses' European Championship opener against France in Zurich. The Arsenal defender, who famously lifted the trophy in 2022, was forced to miss England's first run to a Women's World Cup final two summers ago in Australia after suffering an anterior cruciate ligament injury. 'I've probably held some anxiety, I suppose, up until this moment,' said Williamson, when asked if missing the World Cup and her recovery had given her a new appreciation for this opportunity. 'I wanted to experience another tournament for England, and being away from home is special. It's a bit different to England in 2022, so I'm just taking everything in. I'm very excited. Obviously so much has changed, so I'm intrigued to come back and enjoy that tournament football.' The time has come for Wales Rhian Wilkinson is confident Wales are ready for their 'watershed moment' on a first major tournament stage at Euro 2025. While few expect Wales, who kick off their campaign against the Netherlands in Lucerne on Saturday evening as the lowest ranked team in the competition, to progress from a daunting group which also includes England and France, Wilkinson believes the game has changed in the country forever. Speaking at her pre-match press conference, she said: 'This is a wonderful team, great people, fantastic footballers, and we're going to be tested against some of the best in the world. 'That's what we've been wanting. To showcase Wales as a country, this team and their talent.' Thomas Partey charged Former Arsenal midfielder Thomas Partey has been charged with raping two women. The Metropolitan Police said the Ghana international, whose contract at the Emirates Stadium expired on June 30, faces five counts of rape and one count of sexual assault following alleged offences between 2021 and 2022. Partey's lawyer Jenny Wiltshire said he 'denies all the charges against him', adding: 'He now welcomes the opportunity to finally clear his name.' The player, who is due to appear at Westminster Magistrates' Court on August 5, is accused of two counts of rape against one woman and three counts of rape against another. The sexual assault allegation relates to a third woman, police added. What's on today? European champions England launch their defence with a tough Group D opener against France in Zurich. Debutants and group rivals Wales also get under way when they face the Netherlands in Lucerne looking to gain a foothold in the competition. At the Club World Cup, Champions League winners Paris St Germain go head-to-head with Bayern Munich in Atlanta with a semi-final against either Real Madrid or Borussia Dortmund, who meet at the MetLife Stadium, at stake.

Tears and tributes as players honour Jota at Club World Cup

ORLANDO, FLA, July 5 (Reuters) - Al-Hilal's Ruben Neves and Joao Cancelo broke down in tears during the minute's silence held for their former Portugal teammate Diogo Jota before their side's Club World Cup quarter-final against Fluminense on Friday. Jota, a Liverpool forward, and his younger brother Andre Silva were killed in a car accident in northwestern Spain on Thursday morning when their Lamborghini veered off the road and caught fire. Tributes have continued to pour in for Jota and Andre with footballing greats including Cristiano Ronaldo and Steven Gerrard, joining the Prime Ministers of Portugal and Britain in mourning the loss. Friday's match between Al-Hilal and Fluminense in Orlando began with players and fans observing a minute's silence in memory of Jota and Andre. Neves, one of Jota's closest friends who played with the 28-year-old during their days at Wolverhampton Wanderers, issued a touching tribute on Instagram about an hour before kick-off. "Wherever you are, I know you're going to read this, we've never been one for this sort of thing and maybe now I'll regret it a little, but you know what you mean to me just as much as I know what I am to you," Neves said. "More than a friendship, we're family, and we're not going to stop being family just because you've decided to sign a contract a little further away from us! "When I go to the national team, you'll still be by my side at the dinner table, on the bus, on the plane... you'll always be there with me, as usual. We'll keep laughing, making plans, sharing our lives with each other. "I'll make sure you're always there and I'll make sure your family never lacks anything while you're there, far away but thinking of us, waiting for us ... "As of today, you'll be on the pitch with me, and we'll follow our path together, on the stage where we met." Chelsea's Portuguese forward Pedro Neto also paid a heartfelt tribute to his friends when he walked out on the field with a shirt bearing their names before their quarter-final against Palmeiras in Philadephia. "We spoke with Pedro yesterday and this morning and this afternoon and it was completely Pedro's decision to play or not to play," Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca said after his team's 2-1 win. "He did, he made a fantastic effort to play this game, to play with his teammates, and we really appreciate what he has done. "I just said to the players that this win is especially for him because we know how close he was, and the effort that he has made. So no doubt that we really appreciate what he decided in the end." The funerals of the brothers are expected to take place on Saturday at 10 a.m. local time (0800 GMT) in the Portuguese town of Gondomar.

Man Utd to launch opening offer for summer transfer target after opening talks

Manchester United have a number of targets in their eyes as they attempt to add to Ruben Amorim's squad and it appears that they have decided to finally table an offer for one Manchester United are set to launch their opening bid for Botafogo star John Victor as they search for a new goalkeeper. A reshuffle between the sticks was anticipated this summer, with Andre Onana 's future looking uncertain. The former Inter Milan man has endured an inconsistent spell at Old Trafford since his arrival from Italy. It has been suggested that the Red Devils are open to letting Onana leave on loan this summer. ‌ And a few potential replacements have already been touted for him. Aston Villa star Emi Martinez is expected to be right at the top of their list, while Porto star Diogo Costa and Cruz Azul number one Kevin Mier have also been linked. ‌ Meanwhile Botafogo stopper John Victor emerged as a potential target following his starring role for the Brazilian side at the Club World Cup. It now appears that United are ready to make a tangible move. According to Goal Brazil, United have already submitted an enquiry to Botafogo and after a few meetings, they are ready to table an official offer. Victor would certainly be a more affordable option for the Red Devils given he has a £5.8m release clause written into his contract with his current club. Speaking last year, Victor's agent Pedro Gutierrez admitted that there was growing interest in the goalkeeper. He said: 'I have had many phone calls from clubs in Europe enquiring about John and that is no surprise after what he has achieved with Botafogo. "There has been interest from clubs in England, Germany, Portugal and elsewhere, but John would prefer to play in the best league in the world – the Premier League. Liverpool and Manchester City both have Brazilian goalkeepers in Alisson and Ederson and they have both been successful in England. "John would like the opportunity to emulate those two and become the latest Brazilian goalkeeper to showcase his talents in the Premier League". ‌ Who else should Man United sign this summer? Share your thoughts in the comments below A potential move for Victor comes just weeks after Onana failed to commit his future to the Red Devils. Asked if he was set to stay at Old Trafford beyond this summer, he replied: "Will I leave? I don't know, we'll see!" Meanwhile, alternative target Emi Martinez also made some telling comments regarding his own commitment to Aston Villa. Speaking in the summer, he said: 'My future? I don't know, I come here to play for the national team, and that's the only thing that matters to me right now," Martinez said. "Do I want to move to a new club? The transfer window just opened, so there's still a long way to go." Join our new MAN UTD WhatsApp community and receive your daily dose of Manchester United content from Mirror Football.
