This is after the likes of Benedict Vilakazi and Aubrey Mothibi questioned the appointment. Orlando Pirates news: Next Club World Cup and eight new signings According to the former Orlando Pirates coach, Benson Mhlongo, the 46-year-old Moroccan coach has shown potential to succeed in Soweto. Additionally, Mhlongo believes that Dr Irvin Khoza is well-versed in finding new coaches for the club. 'Dr. Irvin Khoza has always managed to come up with surprises over the years. I trust his judgement; they've been in this game for a long time,' Mhlongo told KickOff . 'It's not for us to speculate. When they brought Jose Riveiro here, nobody knew about him, and look how well he did. Dr. Khoza has vast experience in bringing coaches here, so perhaps there's something the chairman saw in the new coach. 'It was relatively easy for the chairman to make a decision on the new coach since he was already in the country. Maybe they appreciated what he did for Marumo Gallants last season. Kaizer Chiefs sign striker: 39-goals, 6ft

Kaizer Chiefs are reportedly days away from confirming the signing of Bissau-born striker Flavio Silva. The Sporting Lisbon academy product has played all over the globe, but it was in Indonesia's Liga 1 when he established himself as a clinical striker, scoring 39 goals in his first three seasons. 'Kaizer Chiefs look poised to secure the signature of Flavio Silva, a Portuguese striker with roots in Guinea-Bissau,' a source revealed. 'Silva is a product of the Sporting CP youth academy, where he began his footballing journey. He is set to join Amakhosi from the Indonesian Premier League club Persebaya Surabaya, boasting an impressive scoring record. The 1.85m-tall striker made a striking debut in Southeast Asia in January 2023, netting five goals in a single match to lead Persik Kediri to a 5–2 victory over Persikabo 1973.' Kaizer Chiefs are heavily linked with Orlando Pirates duo Paseko Mako and Thabiso Monyane, even though Nasreddine Nabi is said to have no keenness on signing them. 'It's believed that the coach was not part of interest in those two players. Apparently, the coach was looking at three right backs, in Richards Bay defender Lwandile Mabuya, Cape Town Spurs' Lungelo Bhengu and Mhleli Mabuza who had trials at the club in May. And at left back the coach's main interest was Fawaaz Basadien (Stellies) and Mohamed Hussein from Simba SC in Tanzania,' a source said. 'But apparently the scouts and management are believed to have liked Monyane and Mako. So, we will see what will happen in the pre-season whether the coach will still go for his targets or they will settle for the two former Orlando Pirates players.'
