Mulkey has been able to lead LSU to a national championship during her time with the program as well as several deep postseason runs.
Last season with the Tigers, they made their way to the Elite Eight in the postseason. LSU defeated San Diego State, Florida State and NC State before playing the UCLA Bruins and losing to the Western Conference foe, 72-65.
After the season, LSU lost a few key contributors, such as Aneesah Morrow, who transitioned to the WNBA.
Despite the loss, they still have one of the best guards in the country, Flau'jae Johnson.
Johnson is currently preparing for her fourth season at LSU, having established herself as a star on and off the court during her time with the Tigers.

Kim Mulkey reacted to the announcement by reposting a photo of Flau'jae Johnson with the Team USA news posted, seemingly supporting the LSU star.

Skubal throws 7 shutout innings, Meadows homers as Tigers beat Orioles 4-1

BALTIMORE — Tarik Skubal pitched seven shoutout innings, Parker Meadows hit a three-run homer and the Detroit Tigers beat the Baltimore Orioles 4-1 Thursday night. Dillon Dingler also homered for the Tigers, who rebounded from a 10-1 defeat on Wednesday night to win the deciding matchup of the three-game series. Showing the form that enabled him to unanimously win the 2024 AL Cy Young Award, Skubal (7-2) allowed three hits and permitted just one runner past second base. The lefty struck out six, walked two and lowered his ERA to a sparkling 1.99. American League-leading Detroit scored all its runs in the fourth inning against Dean Kremer (5-7). Dingler hit a drive to center that cleared the wall and the glove of Colton Cowser, who was shaken up from colliding with the barrier. The next two batters singled before Meadows hit his first homer of the season, a drive deep into the right-field seats. Kremer was originally slated to start, but interim manager Tony Mansolino opted instead to use Keegan Akin as an opener. Kremer entered in the second and gave up four runs and five hits in seven innings. Baltimore's lone run came on an eighth-inning homer by Dylan Carlson off reliever Tommy Kahnle. Will Vest pitched the ninth for his 12th save. Meadows fell into an 0-2 hole, then hit a foul ball and took a pitch before launching a four-seam fastball into the right-field seats. With Skubal on the mound, the 4-0 lead was essentially insurmountable. In 12 starts since April 2, Skubal is 7-0 with 101 strikeouts and five walks. In addition, he's given up just one earned run in his last four outings. Tigers: Following this unusually brief three-game road trip, the Tigers return home to face the Cincinnati Reds on Friday night. Orioles: Charlie Morton (2-7, 6.59 ERA) starts against the visiting Los Angeles Angels on Friday night in the opener of a three-game set. ___ AP MLB:

Ohio State Gets Great News on 'Elite' Star Quarterback

Ohio State Gets Great News on 'Elite' Star Quarterback originally appeared on Athlon Sports. The Ohio State Buckeyes have become a mecca of sorts for high school quarterbacks at their summer camp this week. Another top future signal-caller came to Columbus, Ohio, on Thursday. Advertisement On3's Mick Walker reported that 2027 five-star quarterback Elijah Haven was set to visit the Buckeyes' campus on Thursday. The highly regarded signal-caller could be closing in on an offer from Ohio State. "Ohio State not offered the 6-foot-4, 205-pound Haven, but quarterbacks coach Billy Fessler has been evaluating him," Walker wrote on Wednesday. On3 ranks Haven as the top quarterback in the 2027 recruiting class and the No. 9 overall prospect. Ohio State Buckeyes football head coach Ryan Day© Adam Cairns/Columbus Dispatch / USA TODAY NETWORK via Imagn Images Haven is also the No. 1 quarterback and fourth-best Louisiana prospect in the 2027 class, per 247Sports composite rankings. Overall, he is ranked No. 22 in the class according to the composite rankings. The On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine has projected Haven to land with the LSU Tigers. Haven also has the Michigan Wolverines high on his list of schools. Advertisement Walker wrote that the quarterback has also received offers from the Auburn Tigers, Georgia Bulldogs, Miami Hurricanes and Ole Miss Rebels. But an offer from the reigning national champions could always shake things up. Walker added Wednesday that Haven will be one of four Louisiana prospects in Columbus this week. The other three were expected to be wide receiver Miguel Whitley, offensive lineman Zyion Wesley and safety Emmanuel Moses. On3's Mick Walker reported Monday that Ohio State was set to host six of the top 25 quarterbacks in the 2027 recruiting class at their summer camp this week. The Buckeyes have already received two verbal commitments in the 2027 recruiting class, and one of them is a quarterback: four-star prospect Brady Edmunds. WNBA Coach Confirms Stance on Knicks' Vacant Job

WNBA Coach Confirms Stance on Knicks' Vacant Job originally appeared on Athlon Sports. The New York Liberty are off to a 9-0 start this season, leading the Eastern Conference by three games and being the only WNBA team to remain perfect. Advertisement The Liberty's success this season can be attributed to several factors, including the leadership of championship-winning head coach Sandy Brondello, who took over ahead of the 2022 season. Before joining the Liberty, she spent eight seasons with the Phoenix Mercury, guiding the team to the 2014 WNBA title and winning Coach of the Year that same year. In addition to her WNBA role, Brondello has served as head coach of the Australian women's national team since 2017. Advertisement Since the move, the Knicks have requested interviews with several head coaches currently employed by other NBA teams. In all five reported instances, their request was rejected. Brondello spoke to the media on Thursday, and with the Knicks' clear struggles to fill their vacancy known, one reporter asked her about a potential move to join them. Writer Geoff Magliocchetti reported, "Sandy Brondello, with a laugh, confirms that the Knicks have not contacted her about their head coaching vacancy." There remains no reason to believe Brondello is going anywhere, with her team sitting at a league-best undefeated record nearly a quarter of the way through the season. Advertisement The Liberty look ahead to Saturday to extend their win streak to 10. They'll be at Gainbridge Fieldhouse to take on the slumping Indiana Fever. Tip-off is scheduled for 3 pm ET on ABC.
