Danish Ambassador condemns terrorism, shows sympathy toward India
Rasmus Abildgaard Kristensen, Danish Ambassador to India noted that Denmark was among the first nations to denounce the April 22 Pahalgam terror attack.
Kristensen, in conversation with ANI, said that Denmark, as a non-permanent UNSC member, has condemned terrorism and made it clear to the Indian government as well.
"Denmark was among the first countries to not only express its sympathy and condolences to the Indian government and to the Indian people in the aftermath of the horrific terror attack that happened, but we were also very strong in condemning terrorism wherever it takes place, and this has been a consistent Danish line, so we have made that very clear to the Indian government. We have also made it very clear at the UN Security Council, where we are currently a non-permanent member," he said.
Kristensen said that Denmark does not have any specific cooperation on counter terrorism with India. But Denmark cooperates with India in the UN and elsewhere.
"As for the bilateral cooperation, we don't have any specific cooperation on counterterrorism, but of course we cooperate with India and other countries in multilateral fora, whether it's the UN Security Council or elsewhere to fight this fight terrorism wherever it occurs because this is a strong Danish position," he said.
He said that Denmark has a strong relationship with India, where in 2021, both countries established a green strategic partnership.
"I think Denmark today has a very strong relationship with India. Back in 2021, we established a green strategic partnership. This was the first, not the first strategic partnership, of course, that India has with other countries, but it's the first green one, and I think that that is also an indication of what it is that you know we can offer each other," he said.
He added that India can use the extensive skills Denmark has to offer in the field of technology.
"Denmark has a lot of experience within the green transition, whether it's energy, water, agriculture, or how you make that more sustainable, and India is already making a lot of progress, but it has a lot of scale that we don't have. So I think it's a perfect match in terms of Denmark offering some skills, and India has this massive scale where you can test and try out these technologies and solutions," he said.
The All-Party Parliamentary Delegation, led by BJP MP Ravi Shankar Prasad, arrived in Denmark on Friday. Indian Ambassador to Copenhagen, Manish Prabhat, received the delegation.
The All-Party Parliamentary Delegation was given a detailed briefing by Prabhat on India-Denmark bilateral relations of "Green Strategic Partnership", shared values and issues of mutual concern, including the challenge of combating terrorism globally.
The delegation, led by Ravi Shankar Prasad, includes BJP MPs Daggubati Purandeswari, M J Akbar, Ghulam Ali Khatana and Samik Bhattacharya; Amar Singh from Congress MP, Priyanka Chaturvedi from Shiv Sena (UBT) and former diplomat Pankaj Saran.
The delegation aims to brief international partners on India's response to the April 22 Pahalgam terror attack and its broader fight against cross-border terrorism while engaging with leaders in France, the UK, Germany, the EU, Italy and Denmark.

No one trusts Bandi Sanjay's comments on Congress: TPCC leader
HYDERABAD TPCC official spokesperson Chanagani Dayakar has dismissed Union Minister Bandi Sanjay Kumar's claims that Congress is behind the controversy related to BRS MLC K. Kavitha's letter to her father and party chief K. Chandrasekhar Rao and termed them baseless. Speaking to the media on Saturday, he accused BJP and BRS of enacting a drama as they are hand in glove. He also alleged that the BJP led Central government is protecting the corrupt BRS party. Mr. Dayakar questioned the BJP's credibility, pointing out that the party has failed to address the people's concerns and has instead resorted to spreading false propaganda. 'People of Telangana have known about BRS and BJP's drama politics for 11 years,' he said. The TPCC spokesperson also slammed Sanjay for his comments on Chief Minister Revanth Reddy, calling them shameful and baseless. 'It's unfortunate that Minister of State for Home Affairs Bandi Sanjay is not even aware that the phone tapping case is being investigated,' Dayakar added. He defended Indira Gandhi, saying that Bandi Sanjay doesn't have the stature to comment on the former Prime Minister. Questioning the BJP government's intentions, he asked why Prime Minister Modi didn't call an all-party meeting after Operation Sindoor ended, despite having called one before it. He also accused BJP leaders of being protective shields for the BRS party. Dayakar claimed that the BJP will not come to power in Telangana as the people are disgusted with the BJP led by central government's rule for 11 years.

Row over Afridi's appearance at Dubai Cusat alumni event, univ denies links
Kochi: The participation of Pakistani cricketers Shahid Afridi and Umar Gul in an inter-collegiate dance event organised by an alumni association of the Cochin University of Science and Technology (Cusat) in Dubai on May 25 has sparked outrage. The association — Cochin University BTech Alumni Association (CUBAA), UAE — issued an apology, saying the incident was not intentional, after a video of Afridi being welcomed at the event went viral. The event was held at the Pakistan Association Dubai (PAD). Cusat, however, said it had no affiliation, association or connection with the organisation, CUBAA UAE. It said in a statement that its official alumni organisation was the Cusat Alumni Network (CAN) and it was not aware of the programme organised in Dubai. In the video, the crowd can be seen cheering Afridi and chanting his nickname "Boom Boom" as he addressed the gathering. Several outfits affiliated with the Sangh Parivar criticised the organisers for inviting Afridi to the event. Afridi had made several anti-India remarks, particularly in the wake of the Pahalgam terror attack . Former BJP state president K Surendran accused the organisers of disrespecting Indians who lost their lives in the Pahalgam terror attack. "If not traitors, what else can you call the Malayali organisation that brought Pakistani cricketers for a celebration in Dubai," he said in a Facebook post. ABVP has called for the cancellation of the passports of CUBAA UAE office-bearers and submitted complaints to the Prime Minister and the ministry of external affairs. ABVP Kerala state secretary EU Eswaraprasad said Afridi had expressed support for terrorist groups hostile to India. "The alumni association's approach is suspicious and the event, held in the presence of anti-India forces, undermined the martyrdom of Pahalgam victims and humiliated India globally," he said. The event organisers, meanwhile, released a detailed statement, saying the appearance of the Pakistani cricketers was entirely unplanned. Without naming Afridi, they said PAD was booked for the second season of their inter-collegiate dance competition well before the escalation of India-Pakistan tensions. The first season was also organised at the venue last year, due to its affordability, they said in a statement. "At the time of our event, diplomatic tensions had already eased. Due to the unavailability of an alternative venue at short notice, we proceeded with the programme as scheduled at PAD," it added. CUBAA representatives also claimed that the cricketers had come to the auditorium for another event on the day. "As our programme was concluding, the cricketers made an unannounced and unsolicited appearance... We would like to categorically state that no member of our organising team, officials or alumni invited them or coordinated this appearance. The official schedule of the event we published, which does not include these individuals as guests, supports this," they said. The organisers further said they could not manage the crowd appropriately as the cricketers' visit was a surprise. "We regret any confusion or inconvenience caused to attendees, participants or supporters due to this unplanned development. We deeply regret any hurt or offence our actions may have caused. It was never our intention, and we sincerely apologise to those affected," they added.

Won't demolish slums, dwellers are city's lifeline: Delhi CM Rekha Gupta
New Delhi: Describing slum dwellers as service providers and the lifeline of Delhi, Chief Minister Rekha Gupta on Saturday assured that no slum colonies in the city will be demolished without rehabilitation. She also announced that Rs 700 crore has been allocated for carrying out development works like toilets and washrooms for women in slums. In a special conversation hosted by actor Anupam Kher at the '100 Din Sewa Ke' event organised at Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium to mark 100 days of the BJP government, CM Gupta sympathised with slum dwellers in the city, saying, 'None of the previous governments really cared for them. They have been living in slums for decades.' Dismissing rumours spread by the opposition regarding slum demolitions, she said, 'Unless every slum dweller receives a permanent home, they will continue to live in their current shelter — but with improved facilities and dignity.' Criticising the previous AAP government and its false promises, CM Gupta said, 'While they sat in Sheeshmahal, we have rebuilt Delhi with honesty.' She also highlighted how the PM-JAY health insurance scheme was approved in the very first Cabinet meeting. On the health front, the CM said, the Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission has also been implemented across hospitals, where Jan Aushadhi Kendras are being set up. Further, advanced healthcare units such as LMU, NAT testing, and a medical genetics ward have been established at Lok Nayak Hospital, ensuring high-quality care. Talking about achievements in the education sector, she said, 'While previous governments only focused on publicity, we approved the Delhi School Education (Transparency in Fixation & Regulation of Fees) Bill 2025 to end the arbitrariness of private schools.' The CM also hit out at the previous AAP government for leaving behind mountains of waste, turning Delhi into a landfill. She said her government has taken concrete steps to eliminate these legacy waste sites, as 24x7 legacy waste processing has been started, with about 30,000 metric tonnes of garbage being biomined daily. 'Waste-to-energy plant installations are progressing swiftly. The target is to completely remove the Bhalaswa and Okhla landfill sites within the next two years,' she said. Currently, Delhi has four operational waste-to-energy plants, and two new plants in Narela and Ghazipur are under rapid construction. Expansions of the Okhla and Tehkhand plants are also underway. Moreover, a modern e-waste park is being developed in Holambi Kalan, she said. Talking about environmental protection, CM Gupta criticised the previous government for turning Delhi into a gas chamber. In contrast, she said, her government has prioritised pollution control by deploying 1,000 sprinklers throughout the year and approving 70 advanced mechanical road sweeping machines. 'Installation of smog guns in all high-rise buildings has also been made mandatory. Additionally, under the DEVi (Delhi Electric Vehicle Interconnector) initiative, 460 electric buses have been introduced for last-mile connectivity, and 2,000 more electric buses will be added by the end of the year,' she said. On the Yamuna River, the CM highlighted that the previous government merely put up a show in the name of cleaning the river, while untreated sewage continued to flow into it. In contrast, her government made the rejuvenation of Yamuna a top priority from day one, she said.
