ANI "In Op Sindoor, we played chess:" Gen Upendra Dwivedi at inauguration of 'Agnishodh' at IIT Madras Gen Upendra Dwivedi, Chief of Army Staff (COAS), inaugurated 'Agnishodh' - the Indian Army Research Cell (IARC) at IIT Madras, marking a significant step towards self-reliance in defence technology.
The initiative aims to upskill military personnel in emerging fields such as additive manufacturing, cybersecurity, quantum computing, wireless communication and unmanned systems, fostering a tech-enabled force.
The collaboration will also extend to the IIT Madras Research Park, including partnerships with AMTDC and Pravartak Technologies Foundation. On the occasion, Dwivedi addressed the faculty and students on "Operation Sindoor - A New Chapter in India's Fight Against Terrorism," highlighting it as a calibrated, intelligence-led operation reflecting a doctrinal shift. He underlined the role of indigenous technology and precision military action in reinforcing India's proactive security posture. He also lauded the IIT faculty for their contribution to nation-building through academic excellence.During an address at IIT Madras, he said, "In Operation Sindoor, we played chess. We did not know what the enemy's next move was going to be, and what we were going to do. This is called the grey zone. Grey zone means that we are not going for the conventional operations. What we are doing is just short of a conventional operation. We were making the chess moves, and he (enemy) was also making the chess moves. Somewhere we were giving them the checkmate and somewhere we were going in for the kill at the risk of losing our own but that's life is all about."
Speaking on the Operation, the COAS said, "What happened on 22 April in Pahalgam shocked the nation. On the 23rd, the next day itself, we all sat down. This was the first time that RM (Defence Minister Rajnath Singh) said, "Enough is enough". All three chiefs were very clear that something had to be done. The free hand was given, 'you decide what is to be done.' That is the kind of confidence, political direction and political clarity we saw for the first time. That is what raises your morale. That is how it helped our army commanders-in-chief to be on the ground and act as per their wisdom.""On the 25th, we visited the Northern Command, where we thought, planned, conceptualised and executed the seven targets out of the nine that were destroyed, and a lot of terrorists were killed. On April 29, we met the Prime Minister for the first time. It is important that how a small name Op Sindoor connects the whole nation. That is something which galvanised the whole nation. That is the reason the whole nation was saying why have you stopped? That question was being asked and it has been amply answered," Dwivedi added. (ANI)

Furious Jaya Bachchan Pushes Man Trying To Take Selfie At Constitution Club
New Delhi: Actress and Samajwadi Party MP Jaya Bachchan lost her cool once again in public on Tuesday when she pushed a man who was trying to take a selfie with her at the Constitution Club in Delhi. Several clips of the incident are now circulating on social media. In the video, Bachchan can be seen pushing the man and saying, 'Kya kar rahe hain aap? (What are you doing?) What is this?' The actress-turned-politician was accompanied by fellow parliamentarians, including Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Priyanka Chaturvedi. As soon as Bachchan shoved the man, Chaturvedi turned to look around before walking towards the Club. #WATCH | Delhi: Samajwadi Party MP Jaya Bachchan scolded a man and pushed him away, while he was trying to take a selfie with her. — ANI (@ANI) August 12, 2025 Internet Divided Social media users had mixed reactions to the incident. While some felt the man should have respected the politician's privacy, others said she could have refused politely instead of pushing him. A user asked, 'Why is Jaya Bachchan always angry?' Another commented, 'When will our men learn basic consent?' A third wrote, 'When will men learn that you are only for votes and taxes, not for taking selfies with celebrities? This isn't the first time Jaya Bachchan has done this.' One user defended her, saying, 'This is not wrong at all. How can one click a selfie with a woman of any stature without her permission? Let's have some sense before we publicize such happenings.' Another joked, 'I have high respect for Mr. Bachchan now.' Dozens of others, however, called her 'very egotistical.' This is not the first time Jaya Bachchan has made headlines for public outbursts. She is often seen giving stern looks to the media and paparazzi. Just days ago, during a special debate on Operation Sindoor in Parliament, the Rajya Sabha MP slammed treasury bench members for interrupting her, saying, 'Either you speak, or I will speak.' Even Priyanka Chaturvedi was seen receiving a minor scolding from the Samajwadi Party leader during the same session. On the Work Front Bachchan was last seen in Karan Johar's Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani. She will reportedly next appear in Dil Ka Darwaaza Khol Na Darling, starring Siddhant Chaturvedi and Wamiqa Gabbi.

Jaya Bachchan back in meme territory again, pushes selfie-seeker fan at Constitution Club in Delhi
Jaya Bachchan, never one to mince words or gestures, made yet another viral moment on Tuesday. While at the Constitution Club in Delhi, the Samajwadi Party MP was approached by a man eager to snap a selfie. What happened next? Let us just say the photo op was cancelled, quite literally. Jaya Bachchan is back again 💀The Queen of Ruseverse 🤣 Selfie with Jaya Bachchan gone wrong in the capital In the now-viral clip, Bachchan can be seen physically pushing the man away while questioning his behaviour. Witnesses say her tone was sharp and her body language was anything but amused. Standing nearby was Shiv Sena (UBT) MP Priyanka Chaturvedi, who briefly turned to see what had happened before walking off towards the Club entrance. Jaya's parliament clapbacks This was far from her first public display of irritation. Only recently, during the fiery Operation Sindoor debate in Parliament, she publicly told treasury bench members to stop interrupting her. Her frustration even extended to her own colleague Priyanka Chaturvedi, whom she reportedly told not to 'control' her mid-speech. Those who have followed her career in politics know these moments are not rare. Bachchan's assertive personality has often translated into unforgettable, headline-grabbing exchanges. Past run-ins with protocol and paparazzi Last year, she was visibly annoyed when Rajya Sabha Chairperson Jagdeep Dhankhar introduced her as 'Jaya Amitabh Bachchan,' a title she clearly did not appreciate. She pointedly reminded the Chair that she is an artist and a parliamentarian, and that the tone and manner of the introduction were unacceptable. Outside Parliament, paparazzi have also been on the receiving end of her impatience. From scolding photographers to calling out inappropriate behaviour, Bachchan's boundary-setting has been as consistent as it is unapologetic. The viral reputation continues Tuesday's selfie shove has now been added to her growing highlight reel of viral moments. Whether one sees it as protecting her personal space or being too blunt in public, there is no denying that Jaya Bachchan's reactions always make for compelling headlines. With cameras rolling and social media ready to amplify every move, the veteran actor-turned-MP seems to have embraced her place as one of India's most outspoken public figures, unfiltered, unscripted, and completely herself.
