The Property Show aims to dispel real estate myths by presenting credible, RERA-compliant properties under one roof. It will feature a diverse mix of apartments, villas, plots, and commercial spaces from across Hyderabad. Highlighting Hyderabad's strong real estate momentum, President N Jaideep Reddy noted that the city witnessed property registrations worth Rs4,300 crore in May 2025 — a 14 per cent year-on-year increase. He attributed this to the city's booming employment hubs, robust infrastructure development, and ongoing investments by global firms. 'Hyderabad is poised for a major transformation with metro rail expansion and elevated corridor projects in the pipeline. With interest rates easing and new high-rise launches, now is the ideal time to invest,' he said.
President-Elect B Jagannath Rao echoed the sentiment, calling Hyderabad a 'true global city' that continues to attract investments across sectors including IT, manufacturing, life sciences, EVs, and defense. 'Despite global uncertainties, Hyderabad's resilience and investor-friendly climate make it a preferred destination,' he added. Speaking on the upcoming show, Convenor Kurra Srinath described the event as 'more than just a real estate exhibition — it's a celebration of trust, choice, and community.'

In a major victory for 493 stalled real estate projects across the Mumbai Metropolitan Region (MMR) and Pune, the Supreme Court (SC) on August 5 disposed of writ petition of Vanshakti NGO vs Union of India, and reaffirmed that the State Environment Impact Assessment Authority (SEIAA) and State Expert Appraisal Committee (SEAC) shall continue to remain the competent authorities for project-level environmental assessments. The Supreme Court judgment removes regulatory ambiguity that had severely impacted project approvals, construction timelines, and homebuyer confidence, CREDAI-MCHI said in a statement (Representational photo)(Pexels) In its ruling, the SC reaffirmed that the State Environment Impact Assessment Authority (SEIAA) and the State Expert Appraisal Committee (SEAC) would remain the competent authorities for conducting project-level environmental assessments, allowing state agencies to continue overseeing environmental clearances. "This landmark ruling brings long-awaited relief to over 493 projects stalled in the Mumbai Metropolitan Region (MMR) and Pune, affecting more than 70,000 housing units, particularly in the affordable and mid-income segments. The judgment removes regulatory ambiguity that had severely impacted project approvals, construction timelines, and homebuyer confidence," CREDAI-MCHI said in a statement. Additionally, the court rejected the differential regulatory treatment for industrial sheds and educational buildings under the Environment (Protection) Act, 1986, underscoring the need for uniformity in environmental regulation, the statement said. D G Shipping rolls out verification process to weed out seafarers holding fraudulent certificates

Allaying concerns over loss of jobs due to its July circular, the Directorate General of Shipping has stated that Indian seafarers are not being debarred or disqualified from sailing per se and can continue to sail in their respective ranks based on the genuine qualification certificates provided their documentation is found to be in assess the authenticity of certificates issued to Indian seafarers by foreign maritime administrations that are not recognised by India, the D G Shipping has put in place a verification process. The move comes in the wake of concerns expressed by unions that the circular issued by the maritime regulator on July 18 would hurt thousands of seafarers' employed on foreign flagged a validation process aimed at weeding out Indian seafarers holding fraudulently obtained Certificate of Competency (CoC) and Certificate of Proficiency (CoP), India's maritime regulator has asked the affected seafarers to submit their original training and certification records through the D G Shipping-approved Recruitment and Placement Service License (RPSL) agents who have hired them on the last documents to be submitted includes CoC/CoP issued by state parties which are not recognised by India, STCW modular courses relevant to the CoC/CoP, competency course relevant to the CoC and seagoing service records with copies of the Continuous Discharge Certificate (CDC) showing the relevant sea service preceding the issuance of the CoC/CoP, according to an addendum issued by the D G Shipping on August documents and records have to be submitted along with a notarised affidavit, duly sworn and signed by the seafarer, attesting their RPSL agents have been asked to submit a separate case file for each seafarer along with the documents and records to the D G Shipping within 30 days.A Committee notified by the D G Shipping will then undertake verification of the seafarers' certificates and assess the authenticity of the certificates issued by the foreign administrations and training providers.'If the documents are found to be genuine and meeting the requirements of the STCW Convention, then the seafarers' shall be permitted to join vessels immediately. If not, the reports will be forwarded to the concerned maritime administration for cancellation of CoC/CoP and the RPSL agency and the seafarer will be duly informed about the action being initiated,' Capt Ravi Singh Sikarwar, Nautical Surveyor-cum-DDG (Technical) wrote in the August 5 D G Shipping reiterated that its July 18 circular 'does not impose any blanket restriction or prohibition on seafarers from continuing their employment or sailing'.'The circular merely mandates verification of certificates of the seafarers by the RPSL agency, holding qualifications from certain foreign administrations, in the interest of safeguarding maritime safety and regulatory compliance. The seafarers are not being debarred or disqualified from sailing per se; they can continue to sail in their respective ranks based on the genuine CoC/CoP, provided their documentation is found to be in order. The intent of the circular is purely regulatory and preventive, aimed at identifying and acting against fraudulent practices, without causing undue hardship to genuine seafarers,' the regulator D G Shipping said it has received representation from seafarers' unions on the July 18 circular, expressing their concern and the need to have a validation process for seafarers with genuine certificates.'At the same time, all the industry associations and the seafarers' unions expressed support for the cleanup efforts of the DGS and stressed that action should be taken against persons holding fraudulent certificates ,' the D G Shipping added.

RERA can grade real estate promoters to increase credibility, feel industry experts
The Tamil Nadu Real Estate Regulatory Authority (TNRERA) could start grading the promoters based on their good practices, Jayaprakash Padmanaban, senior partner, Fox Mandal & Associates said at The Hindu Tamil Nadu Real Estate Summit 2025. While speaking at a session on 'Policy to Prosperity: RERA, Ease of Doing Business & Regulatory Outlook', he said, grading the promoters will help the public. 'One of the critical aspects of RERA is to ensure the accountability and credibility of the promoters. They can also be incentivised for such practises. The list of promoters could be published, making the process transparent. It will also encourage people to follow good practices and will benefit the public significantly,' he said. Sanjay Chugh, city head and director, ANAROCK Property Consultants Pvt. Ltd., Chennai, said, over the last eight years, RERA has been carrying out a fantastic job in Tamil Nadu by executing its regulatory role. 'Now, RERA can take on a larger role, like enforcing green building norms or safety audits. They could get more involved in sustainability. Now, RERA can spread its wings to a larger cause protecting home buyers,' he added. With respect to redevelopment of apartments, Mr. Chugh said, the challenge the developer faces is that there is a lot of confusion within owners of properties about the issue. 'Developers spend a lot of time talking, engaging with them. Some of the projects take a long time for redevelopment. RERA can play an important role in educating, setting certain guidelines which one has to follow,' he said. He noted that Chennai has potential for vertical growth and the time has come to focus on it. Sridharan Swaminathan, chairman, Sabari and LYRA Properties Pvt. Ltd. and Executive Committee Member, CREDAI National, New Delhi, said, if a city has overgrown and has to grow further, then vertical development is the way forward. Otherwise, people must move to satellite towns. 'The focus should be on giving the best infrastructure available to the extended areas of the city. Greater concentration on infrastructure and transportation will make it a success. Now, Metro Rail is coming up on Rajiv Gandhi Salai. But if there is no Metro Rail connectivity to that area, then, commuting to OMR will be a nightmare,' he added. Kunal Shankar, Deputy Business Editor, The Hindu moderated the event.
