Ryanair launches new twice-weekly service from Manchester to Rabat
Irish airline Ryanair is set to launch a new twice-weekly service between Manchester and Rabat on March 30, Manchester Airport has announced.
Operating on Wednesdays and Sundays, these flights will make Rabat the fifth Moroccan destination accessible by direct flight from the airport, joining Tangiers, Casablanca, Marrakech, and Agadir.
On its official website, Manchester Airport highlights Morocco's growing popularity among British travellers. In 2024, nearly half a million passengers flew to the Kingdom from Manchester, up from 275,000 the previous year, reflecting the rising demand for this destination.
«Morocco is becoming an increasingly popular destination for people in the north of England», said Stephen Turner, Commercial Director of the airport. He added that Rabat offers «an unforgettable experience» that is sure to be «much appreciated by passengers».
The launch of this new service has been widely covered in the British press, with many publications highlighting the charm of the Moroccan capital, a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 2012.
The Sun described Rabat as a «discreet seaside jewel», rich with attractions including the Kasbah des Oudayas, the ancient medina, the banks of the Bouregreg River, and the iconic Hassan Tower, a landmark of the city since the 12th century.
The publication also praised Rabat's quiet, authentic atmosphere, in contrast to the more popular tourist destinations in Morocco.
Similarly, The Chester Standard noted Rabat's diverse attractions, from «golden sandy beaches and picturesque sites to fine gastronomy, grand architecture, and a long and fascinating history».
Thanks to this new route, the Moroccan capital is poised to attract an ever-growing audience seeking a destination that combines culture, relaxation, and exploration.

This year's Marhaba operation is set against expectations of an unprecedented influx of about 3.5 million travelers, primarily Moroccans living in Europe, representing a 4% increase over previous years. Around 890,000 vehicles are expected to cross the Strait of Gibraltar, marking a 5% rise that may be partly attributed to Spain's migrant regularization program. An investment of approximately MAD 28 million (around $2.8 million) has been dedicated to upgrading reception infrastructure at Tanger-Med port to better handle the flow. Overall, Marhaba 2025 aims to ensure smooth traffic management, enhanced security, proximity support, and heightened health vigilance, in line with royal directives to guarantee a safe and efficient return for Moroccans abroad during the summer season.
