Conor Maynard breaks silence on Traitors star baby drama and 'traumatic' fallout

Conor Maynard has spoken out after discovering that he was not the dad of The Traitors star Charlotte Chilton's baby.
In his first TV interview, on Friday's This Morning, the singer spoke out about the moment he found out he wasn't the father for the first time.

In October, Traitors star Charlotte Chilton gave birth to her first child, Penelope. In November, the first-time mum, who had publicly claimed Conor as daughter Penelope's father, alleged he is not involved with the baby.

However after months of drama, back in March, Conor put out a statement to say he had taken a paternity test and was not the father. He wrote at the time: "Earlier this week, I took a paternity test regarding Charlotte Chilton's baby girl, Penelope, in the presence of her legal representative. Today I've received the test results which confirm that I am not Penelope's father.
"I am glad that the speculation can finally be put to an end. All I would ask is that people act with kindness in response to this news - there is a child at the heart of all of this and that should not be forgotten. I wish Charlotte and her family all the best. Conor."

Now, Conor, who had previously spoke out about his struggles with anxiety at the time, told hosts Paddy McGuiness and Alison Hammond about the struggles he faced during that time.
"The last year has been really difficult, and mental health has been something I've struggled with for a big portion of my life," he began. "This most recent year has definitely been up there in terms of my experience and battle with it.
"A lot of things have contributed to why things have been so difficult," the star continued.

Paddy then went on to ask Connor how he felt when he found out he wasn't the father, but "funnily enough it wasn't an instant relief," he told hosts.
"I actually felt like I was going to have a massive panic attack the second I found out," Connor admitted. "That's the diffcult truth about mental health. When something traumatic happens to you, the second that traumatic event stops you don't think, 'Oh I'm fine now.' It doesn't work out like that."
Although Conor's friends wanted to go out for a drink that night, the star admitted he didn't feel up to it, and opted to stay in with his girlfriend instead.

Summing up his emotions, Connor continued: "It was confusion, and feeling like, 'Why did that have to happen?'"
Concluding, the singer said: "When the result came in, it was unbelievable, but it wasn't instant relief. It took a lot of time to process and really understand."
This Morning reached out to Charlotte's representative to offer them a right of reply, however, they declined to comment at this time.

Holly Willoughby suffers major blow as Netflix show is 'axed' after one season

Holly Willoughby's Netflix series Celebrity Bear Hunt has reportedly been axed (Picture: Netflix) British TV personality Holly Willoughby's Netflix show Celebrity Bear Hunt reportedly won't be returning to screens for a second season. The former This Morning star, 44, broke into the Netflix presenting market last year by hosting a survival show which plunged a group of famous faces into the jungles of Costa Rica where they are chased by famed survivalist Bear Grylls. The show featured the likes of Spice Girls icon Mel B, retired tennis player Boris Becker, TV presenter Laurence Llewelyn-Bowen, and Strictly Come Dancing head judge Shirley Ballas. Although the show comfortably topped the UK Netflix charts – and hung about in the top 10 for multiple weeks – it didn't quite make the same splash globally, with insiders claiming at the time that execs didn't believe it had been worth the 'huge financial cost', per The Mirror. Now, four months after its premiere, it looks as though its fate has been sealed with sources telling MailOnline it will not be returning. The insider said: 'Everyone was very proud of the show but when it came to it, it was just so expensive to make. The expensive Costa Rica-based show performed well in the UK but not globally (Picture: Tom Dymond/Netflix) 'You had to have a whole set in Costa Rica, loads of staff and loads of celebrities. The overheads were eyewatering,' adding that cheaper locations were explored but ultimately nothing was found. It comes just two weeks after Grylls shared his hopes of a renewal with an optimistic update. 'God willing, we're just sort of figuring that out at the moment,' he told Dermot O'Leary on Radio 2. The first season, dubbed 'I'm A Celebrity on steroids' spanned 12 episodes and was won by Big Zuu where he was rewarded a rope worn by Grylls himself and which he has hung up in his home like a 'weird little mantlepiece' as he told Metro. Although it seems as though it is the end of the road for the reality show, it left a lasting mark on its cast, as The Saturdays' Una Healey explained. The show was ultimately won by Big Zuu (Picture: Tom Dymond/Netflix) It remains to be seen what the TV presenter does next (Picture: Kieron McCarron/ITV/REX/Shutterstock) '[Grylls] actually prepared us for the outside world afterwards, to get back to reality, which I did experience a mild form of PTSD. And he said that can happen,' she told The Sun at the time. The pop star added: 'It's very natural because you're coming back into your natural environment. But you've adapted to this whole new way of life. 'So he prepared me for that and I had it. I had a few aftershocks and nightmares and stuff.' As for Willoughby, it is unclear what her next career move is after her final ITV show, Dancing On Ice, announced it was coming to an end after 19 years. She also quit her co-hosting gig with Stephen Mulhern for the reboot of You Bet! after one season. Celebrity Bear Hunt is available to stream on Netflix. Metro has reached out to Netflix for comment. How to steal Cat Deeley's style without breaking the bank - as the This Morning star stuns in affordable fashion

Since stepping into her role as co-host on ITV 's This Morning, Cat Deeley has captivated audiences not only with her on-screen charm, but also with her impeccable fashion sense. The British TV presenter's wardrobe has become a topic of discussion for viewers in recent weeks - as her looks appear relatively informal in comparison with the designer gear favoured by her predecessor Holly Willoughby. From knee-high boots and cut-out halter necks to silky blouses and wide-leg jeans, 48-year-old Cat clearly enjoys blending high-street finds with timeless elegance. Her stylist, David O'Brien, often draws inspiration from the textures and colours from the 1970s and the retro influence is evident in her choice of flared trousers, tailored waistcoats and earthy tones. On Monday Cat's casual wardrobe featuring an elegant black, sleeveless top that was clasped together in a cross at the front paired with sleek red trousers, raised eyebrows as some said seemed more suited to a 'night out or a beach bar'. The adventurous looks are a far cry from the more formal attire usually supported by breakfast presenters, with the likes of Ruth Langsford, Alison Hammond and Lorraine Kelly preferring a uniform of midi dresses, blazers and smart blouses. While Holly favoured designer items from brands such as Ted Baker, LK Bennett and Jaeger, Cat has won fans over by wearing the more affordable Zara and John Lewis. Cat's fashion is refreshingly attainable for audiences, as she blends vintage influences with contemporary trends, making her style easy to replicate. Why Traitor's Alexander attended Starmer's defence speech

Unfortunately for Alexander on Monday morning, suspicion was on him once again. Why was a runner up on one of the country's biggest television shows standing with a pack of journalists to hear Sir Keir Starmer deliver a speech on the UK Government's long-awaited strategic defence review? Alexander was a far cry away from the luxury Scottish castle in the Highlands where The Traitors is filmed. This time, he was in Govan, at the BAE Systems shipyard, where the Prime Minister announced the country was preparing to be 'battle ready' against cyber threats and Russia. It was a rousing speech, one that sent alarm bells across the country. But for me, a self-proclaimed Traitors superfan, I needed to know: why was Alexander here? Once I had plucked up the courage to ask him, Alexander shared that he had been invited as a guest of No 10. The former diplomat has used his growing platform on social media and his strong understanding of politics to explain key news events on TikTok, making him a key asset to the UK Government. The video, shorter than one minute long, reached more than 81,000 people in under 24 hours. He helps his followers understand the significant change in tone from the Prime Minister - Britain now needed to be on the war footing, to be prepared and stronger than ever. What is also a change is the approach from the UK Government in making sure that news reaches the widest possible audience. Alexander Dragonetti poses for a photo with political correspondent Rebecca McCurdy. (Image: Newsquest) Are we now entering an era where influencers and celebrities join journalists at private press events? It certainly seems so. You could make the case that this is not the best use of government time or resources. But for UK Government officials, Alexander's platform from The Traitors, and his diplomatic experience, makes him the right man for the job. Would a video of the Prime Minister declaring war-readiness on his own TikTok or social media platforms attracted such a wide ranging audience so quickly? Probably not. I have to be honest, I'm not complaining either. If I send my mum a photo of me interviewing a politician, she doesn't bat an eyelid. It doesn't matter to her. But Alexander from The Traitors? That blew up the family group chat. There is of course concern around influencer access to government speeches though. Journalists are bound by strict codes of conduct after years of training. There isn't much doubt that Alexander's video would have been useful to the UK Government and to the wider public, given his former career. Was he paid for the trip? I don't know. Presumably his travel would be, at least. But let's ensure that our politicians are careful with the level of access social media influencers can bring. It must not be used to advertise controversial government decisions.
