Rasmus Hojlund rejects interest from club which could hinder Benjamin Sesko move
RB Leipzig are interested in Manchester United's Rasmus Hojlund but the striker has made it clear he does not want to make the move, according to reports. The Denmark international's future at Old Trafford is up in the air after failing to convince in his first two seasons with the club. Hojlund joined the Red Devils from Atalanta for an initial £64m in 2023 and has since scored 14 Premier League goals in 62 appearances, netting 26 times in 95 outings across all competitions. His first campaign was reasonably encouraging, but last season was very difficult for him as he struggled for confidence and any kind of form. Manchester United have brought in forward Matheus Cunha and Bryan Mbeumo this summer, while they are also being linked with centre forwards as their rebuild continues. Leipzig's Benjamin Sesko is a key target, although the Red Devils face competition from Newcastle, who have made a bid for the striker. The Slovenian striker is not in the Leipzig squad for a pre-season friendly against Atalanta on Saturday and a move to either Old Trafford or St James' Park looks likely. It had been reported that the 22-year-old preferred a move to Manchester, but more recent reports suggested the Magpies were leading the race to sign him and have made a bid worth €75m (£65.5m) + €5m (£4.37m). Manchester United's chances of signing Sesko may be hurt by Hojlund having no interest in going the other way as they look for a replacement. TalkSPORT report that Hojlund is aware of Leipzig being interested in his signature but has made it clear he does not want to make the move to the team that finished seventh in the Bundesliga last season. If Leipzig are not able to get the replacement they want and Manchester United cannot bring in funds from selling Hojlund, it could hamper their move for Sesko. The Dane has been clear in his stance that he intends to stay at Old Trafford and fight for his place in Ruben Amorim's first team. 'I think my plan is very clear and that is for me to stay and fight for my spot whatever happens,' said Hojlund during Manchester United's pre-season trip to America. 'I am still very young. I think people sometimes forget that. I am only 22 years old. I have learned a lot, and I think that shows in my game. 'I have done very well so far during the pre-season.' The Red Devils are desperate to secure some sales this summer, with deals to get rid of the likes of Jadon Sancho, Antony, Alejandro Garnacho and Tyrell Malacia proving tricky to strike. More Trending Marcus Rashford has moved on loan to Barcelona, but moves for the other four transfer listed players are not imminent. All four were left out of the pre-season trip to the States and appear to have no future with the Red Devils, but interested clubs are struggling to match Manchester United's and the players' demands. RB Leipzig are also making big sales this summer, with Xavi Simons on the brink of joining Chelsea.
