'I'm so proud' - Linnets boss Rowe after opening day show

'It was always going to be eventful, wasn't it, if I was the manager? It always is.'
And so, in just 17 words, James Rowe summed up what it will be like for King's Lynn Town fans this season.
The head coach was more like a ringmaster in his dugout - animated, cajoling, urging his team on, berating them when it went wrong. When his opposite number Kevin Wilkin bemoaned a referee's decision, Rowe was ready to pounce with his opinion. Officials get rarely a moment's rest, and Rowe even urged the crowd to get on their backs as well – not that it takes a lot of doing.
It was high energy stuff – on and off the pitch.
And, when the 90-minute storm had final abated, Rowe was calmness personified, happy to give his thoughts but keen to get to his family and some different post-match banter.
Lynn started with just three players from last season - Gold Omotayo, Ross Crane and Tom Wilson – with new owner Joseph Phua sitting in the stands, after a whirlwind 16-hour trip from Singapore, the return leg of which began immediately after the game.
It was all very 'new' – and if what transpired on the pitch is repeated, Lynn fans will surely love this rollercoaster ride. Yes, Lynn should have won and on another day might have had the game tucked up before half-time. But a new squad, considerably younger than last season's, will live and learn.
'I'm so proud, because we're a young group and the enthusiasm and the attacking intent that we played was outstanding,' he said. 'To have 24 shots at home, you expect to score more than one goal. And I think we got 34 box entries as well, so those stats back up the pride, really.
'And 1-0 at home against us at half-time, as a young group could have gone the other way, but they've showed great character. They've come out even stronger and we played better in the second half. I thought for 30 minutes before their goal, we were very, very good. And again, that shows a young group that, after their goal, they had the best spell of their game. So we need to make sure we react better when adversity comes, that'll come as we learn along the journey.
'But my overriding feeling is pride.'
It took a Michael Gyasi equaliser just before the hour mark to earn a point, after Matt Stenson had put the visitors ahead on 35 minutes from the penalty spot.
Lynn had enjoyed the bulk of the play for much of the opening period, before the visitors came into the game. Gyasi had the balI in the net on four minutes but was ruled offside, but the returnee then slipped in Crane who, with the keeper advancing, fired over from close range.
All the opening forays were in the visitors' half, and debutant Joe Nyahwema almost made the most of it on 17 minutes when he cut in from the left and fired a rocket of a shot against the bar from 25 yards.
Louis Chadwick, preferred in goal to the experienced Paul Jones, denied Stenson a second, but whatever Rowe said to his players at the break worked. Bar the odd foray from the visitors, it was all Lynn.
The reward came when Crane found Gyasi with a drilled ball down the middle and the striker switched on the after-burners before slotting the ball past keeper Alfie Brooks.
Gyasi twice went close to scoring a winner, but make no mistake, this is a very different player to the one that struggled at times during his first spell at The Walks. His upper body strength, his confidence, his speed – all improved.
In the final reckoning, despite some close shaves and some excellent defending by the visitors, Lynn had to settle for a point. But the thumbs up verdict from the crowd was unanimous. They rather like this bright new world.
King's Lynn Town: Chadwick, Hall-Johnson (Williams 89(, Clements, Wilson, Fleming, Clunan, Nyahwema, M Williams, Crane (Forde-Brown 69), Gyasi (Collins 81), Omotayo. Subs: Jones, Doherty, Dickens, Marriott.

Jonathan Smith provides interesting update on MSU O-Line depth

Depth within the offensive line was a concern last season for the Spartans, but that doesn't appear to be the case anymore. Michigan State is in the midst of fall preseason camp, with the Spartans kicking off week three of practice earlier on Monday. As part of progressing into week three, Spartans head coach Jonathan Smith met with the media on Monday to discuss a number of topics surrounding his team. One of those was the depth he's seeing at offensive line. According to a post from Emmett Matasovsky of Spartan Shadows, Smith said there's a battle for the starting five spots on the offensive line, with "close to 10 guys" still in the mix. This quote is particularly interesting because, to me, this suggests they feel pretty good about essentially their entire two deep at offensive line. Michigan State's offensive line has been a weakness for the Spartans for what feels like a decade at this point. Sure, there have been bright spots along the way, but it hasn't been a unit that has given the fan base much faith over at least the last few seasons at a minimum. If Michigan State can put together an average Big Ten offensive line, I feel very confident in what they can achieve this season on that side of the ball. The skilled position groups all seem to be upper-tier in the league, with the offensive line being the biggest question mark. However, it's starting to sound like we should be putting more faith and expectations into that unit as we inch closer and close to the start of the 2025 season. Man City Willing to Replace Ederson With £26M-Rated Chelsea, Man Utd Target Amid PSG Doubt

Gianluigi Donnarumma's future at PSG looks uncertain after the club signed Lucas Chevalier. With that move, Donnarumma will likely need to find a new long-term team, and rumors are linking him to Manchester United. CentreDevils recently reported that Manchester United have held direct talks about signing Donnarumma. The 26-year-old keeper is reportedly a target for Ruben Amorim, who is said to be a big fan. The report notes that Donnarumma's experience and talent could be a key addition at Old Trafford as Amorim works on rebuilding the squad this summer. Journalist Ben Jacobs also shared that PSG is asking for £26 million, with Donnarumma having just one year left on his contract after the club decided not to offer an extension. Does Man City have the edge for PSG outcast? On Tuesday, RMC Sport's Fabrice Hawkins reported that Manchester City will monitor Donnarumma if Ederson leaves the club. Negotiations are ongoing with the goalkeeper's side, and personal terms won't be an issue as Donnarumma is keen on the move. Meanwhile, RMC Sport reported Monday that Chelsea and Manchester United have inquired about Donnarumma's situation. But this case is far from settled; for now, it is just a simple expression of interest from the two English clubs. On the latest episode of the Ensemble PSG Podcast, Robin Bairner, chief editor at Football Transfers, commented on the rumor linking Donnarumma to Manchester United. 'Well, our understanding at Football Transfers is that Manchester United are naturally interested in a goalkeeper,' Bairner said. 'Andre Onana hasn't been up to the standard that they had expected when they signed him. So naturally, Manchester United step into this equation. Whether Gianluigi Donnarumma is prepared to go to United, where they don't have European football this year, of course, that's debatable. 'And of course, there's a whole heap of sales that Manchester United are likely to have to make now to be able to afford to sign Donnarumma because of financial fair play. They've obviously made three big signings now, having announced Sesko. So there are complications there.'

Cody Bellinger not letting looming free agency get in way of his Yankees ‘aspirations'

Access the Yankees beat like never before Don't miss Greg Joyce's text messages from The Bronx and beyond — he's giving Sports+ subscribers the inside buzz on the Yankees. Sign Up Now Cody Bellinger has enjoyed a strong initial season in The Bronx, both at the plate and in making himself extra valuable with his versatility across all three outfield positions. Notably, the 30-year-old Bellinger also can become a free agent after the 2025 season concludes — if he decides to opt out of the final year of his contract at $25 million. But the former NL MVP insists he only is thinking about helping the Yankees shake off their recent slide and secure a playoff spot. 'As cliché as it sounds, I'm really just taking it day by day,' Bellinger said when asked about his contract before Tuesday's game against the Twins at the Stadium. 'There's like 45 games left in the regular season, and obviously we have dreams and aspirations of getting to the postseason and back to the World Series.
