Story:
'A deda (dad) can go to any extent for his child and family.' This line summarises the plot of Deda, Hema Shukla's directorial debut. Akhil ( Gaurav Paswala ), a struggling writer, is in trouble as his wife Khushi's ( Helly Shah ) complicated delivery requires a huge sum of money. The film explores this journey through turmoil, involving intense drama.
Review:
Hema Shukla's directorial debut, Deda, is a heartwarming story nicely directed and presented on screen. With an impressive music and background score throughout the film by Prashant Satose, the music adds great effect to the emotion of the film. The story based in Surat is well converted to the screenplay by Hema Shukla & Dharmesh Naresh Kumar.
As for the performances, Gaurav Paswala's attempt at portraying an intense character is successful. From rough look to strong performance through his eyes, Deda can be counted as one of Gaurav's finest performance of his career. Helly Shah's matured perfomance is impressive and she pulls of her character beautifully. Mehul Buch is as usual a perfect fit for bringing the negative arc to the story, but what comes as a surprise is Sonaalee Lele Desai, who is portraying a grey characters effortlessly.
While the film takes a lot fo time to establish itself, and the second half can feel a bit stretched, the happening climax, giving a perfect happy ending to the drama-led film.

Helly Shah On Playing Contrasting Roles In Deda, Zyada Mat Udd: ‘Exciting, Exhausting'

Helly Shah spoke about the difficulties she encountered while preparing for two extremely different roles: one as a pregnant lady and other as an air hostess. Helly Shah, a prominent television actress, had been out of the spotlight for several years since her debut in the daily soap Ishq Mein Marjawan 2. This year, she ended her hiatus and was back on TV with the weekend show Zyada Mat Udd as well as her first Gujarati film Deda. The actress spoke out about the difficulties she encountered while preparing for two extremely different roles: one as a pregnant lady Deda and the other as an air hostess in Zyada Mat Udd. In an interview with Tellychakkar, Helly shared that balancing these opposing personalities wasn't easy, especially when it came to her physical appearance. Deda required Helly to gain weight and mimic the physique of a pregnant woman, which necessitated dietary and body language modifications. On the other hand, Zyada Mat Udd needed to be healthy and toned to maintain the sharp and polished appearance of an air hostess. 'Playing such different roles at the same time was both exciting and exhausting. For Deda, I had to put on some weight to look the part, and for Zyada Mat Udd, I had to get back into shape quickly. Managing the diet and looking for both roles was extremely difficult, but I was determined to give my best," she said. Deda is Helly's first Gujarati film which was released on July 4. Helly Shah's character in her new programme Zyada Mat Udd appears to be already popular with her followers. The show, which airs on ColorsTV and JioHotstar, follows the life of airline cabin staff members. Zyada Mat Udd also stars Shehzada Shaikh and Aishwarya Sakhuja. The show is primarily about Goldie, the wealthy, spoiled son of an airline owner. Goldie takes on the character of an obedient cabin crew member in order to establish his worth as CEO of his father's firm. Helly Shah also made her OTT debut in Gullak 4. The series, which represents the spirit of India's middle class, resonated with viewers due to its genuine portrayal of daily problems and joys. The cast includes Jameel Khan, Geetanjali Kulkarni, Harsh Mayar, Vaibhav Raj Gupta, Saad Bilgrami, Deepak Kumar Mishra, Gaurav Sarathe and Sunita Rajwar. Shreyansh Panday developed and directed the series for Viral Fever Media Labs.

She recalled that the reply from the person was 'even more shocking' and added, "The person said that it is okay on phone also. I mean, I am okay online. I do not know how to put it. I do not know how to frame that sentence either. That it will work online. Online compromise. Yes, okay. I was like, what is this? I blocked that number, and I mean, these things happen, and people are really shameless. There is no decency at all. It is just, it is bad that there are people like this.' Helly revealed she eventually let go of that project. About Helly Shah's upcoming movie Helly will next be seen in the Gujarati film Deda.
