SA weather: What's in store this weekend

As we head into the winter months – with Sunday being the 1st of June – temperatures are starting to fall around SA, but the good news is that it looks set to be a pleasant weather weekend countrywide.
According to the SA weather service, fine and cool to warm weather across the country is predicted this weekend, although it will be partly cloudy with a possibility of light rain and showers in the south-west.
It will be relatively chilly in Cape Town, where temperatures won't go much beyond 15°C, and while there will be plenty of low-lying cloud cover most of the weekend, the strong winds from the week have at least abated.
In Gauteng, typically cold mornings and evenings will make way for fine to warm conditions in the day, with temperatures peaking around 19°C in the early afternoons of Saturday and Sunday.
Along the coast, Gqeberha looks set for a warm and pleasant day on Saturday as temperatures peak at 19°C with minimal wind to take note of, while Sunday is only marginally cooler.
The most enviable weather is typically in Durban, where temperatures all weekend will be in the low 20s, while there is barely a breath of wind expected.

Weather: Another powerful cold front set to hit Gauteng next week

A powerful cold front is set to impact Gauteng and other parts of the country next week, bringing damaging winds and isolated rain showers. Just two weeks ago, the country faced its first major cold front of the year, and it appears that cold, icy weather will be the norm in June. This week, most regions have experienced relatively warm temperatures, with the exception of the Western Cape. Temperatures are anticipated to drop significantly starting Thursday. The forecast for Johannesburg predicts a minimum temperature of 5°C and a high of 15°C on Thursday. Similar temperatures are expected on Friday and Saturday, with maximums lingering in the mid-teens throughout next weekend. The cold front is set to persist until the weekend however, no official statement has been released by the South African Weather Service yet. The latest weather forecast from AccuWeather suggests the cold weather will persist from next Thursday going into the week. Going into this weekend, Gauteng residents can enjoy relatively warm weather. Pretoria will experience a maximum of 20°C for both Saturday and Sunday, while Johannesburg reaches a high of 19°C. The cold front will hit Gauteng, Limpopo, Mpumalanga, North West and Limpopo from Thursday. 5 tips to prevent dry, brittle hair this winter

If you want to keep your hair healthy this winter, you're in the right place! In the past, cold weather, dry indoor heat, and wind made my hair feel brittle and frizzy. But with a few simple changes, I've learnt a few tips to keep my hair soft and hydrated all season. Here are five easy tips I use to prevent dry hair and keep my hair shiny this winter: I choose the right shampoo and conditioner. This is important. Look for moisturising products that have nourishing ingredients like argan oil, shea butter, or coconut oil. These ingredients have helped me restore moisture and protect my hair from the drying effects of winter. Hot water feels nice, but it removes the natural oils from your hair that keep it moisturised. I've found that washing my hair with lukewarm or cool water helps keep moisture in, making it less likely to become dry or break. Using heat styling tools like blow dryers and straighteners can make your hair drier, especially in winter. I try to let my hair air-dry more often. If you do use heat, always apply a heat protectant spray to protect your hair. Using a deep conditioner or hair mask once a week is a great way to stop dry hair, but many people ignore it. These treatments provide strong hydration and repair, and have helped me to make my brittle hair soft and strong again. Cover your hair with a scarf, hat, or hood when you go outside. This protects your hair from the cold wind and air, which can dry it out. Taking this simple step helps keep moisture in your hair and makes it look healthier. You don't have to suffer from dry hair in winter. Follow my tips to keep your hair soft and manageable all season long. Please note. These are my personal suggestions for hair care based on my own experience. For any specific concerns, please consult a dermatologist or hair care professional.
