Shaping a better future for humanity
This honorary degree recognises His Highness as one of the most prominent Arab figures in supporting education, culture, and arts in Sharjah and the UAE in particular, and the Arab world in general, and as one of the most prominent Arab figures dedicated to building bridges of cooperation and harmony between Arab culture and various human cultures and civilisations for the sake of human happiness, interconnectedness, and shaping a better future for humanity.
During the honoring ceremony held in Kanazawa, His Highness the Ruler of Sharjah delivered a speech in Arabic, which was translated into Japanese by his daughter, Her Highness Sheikha Hoor bint Sultan Al Qasimi. His Highness emphasised the importance of education and scientific research for the economic, cultural, and social progress of countries around the world.
His Highness said, "Based on this premise and a clear vision for the future of our societies, we in Sharjah began planning a massive project about twenty years ago aimed at enhancing the cognitive and intellectual capabilities of our youth and enabling them to effectively contribute to the growth of our societies through strong competition in a world characterised by knowledge economies."
University City
In his speech, His Highness touched on the University City project in Sharjah and the efforts made to advance higher education through the establishment of the University of Sharjah (UoS) and the American University of Sharjah (AUS), and to activate international partnerships in the field of scientific research and innovation, emphasising the role of knowledge in building more advanced and stable societies.
A better future for all of humanity
Japanese officials praised His Highness the Ruler of Sharjah as one of the most prominent Arab figures concerned with human development, human advancement, and the development of the ability to communicate and interact with the peoples of the world for a more just and happier future for all of humanity.
It is worth noting that His Highness the Ruler of Sharjah is one of the prominent figures selected to receive this honour from Kanazawa University, which was established in 1949 and is considered one of the most important and prestigious universities in Japan and East Asia.
This honour is a new addition to His Highness's collection of honorary degrees from leading international universities, reflecting international recognition of his pioneering role in the Arab cultural and intellectual renaissance.
