Stop EVERYTHING: Liverpool might have their next Mo Salah

Stop EVERYTHING: Liverpool might have their next Mo Salah Liverpool might have found their next Mo Salah. It's time to stop the transfer plans. Liverpool relied fairly heavily on Mo Salah last season. The Egyptian put in arguably the most incredible season of his career - and that's saying something, given his debut campaign saw him break the Premier League goal record for a 38-game season. Advertisement But that's really how good he was. Salah won both the Premier League Golden Boot and the Playmaker award in a sensational effort as Liverpool won the title. There is a bit of a 'problem' here, though. Salah turned 33 this month and has two years left on his Liverpool contract. It's difficult to believe there will be another one after that. The forward will not be at this level forever and Liverpool even need to entertain the idea that next season sees a drop-off. Now, we don't think that will happen but you've got to be open to it. Just in case. So here's the real problem: Liverpool don't have another Salah. No one really does, in truth, such is his incredibly high level. Advertisement We mean that there's no obvious successor, no backup, no replacement. Or is there? Harvey Elliott is thriving Harvey Elliott scored twice for England Under 21s on Thursday as they qualified for the UEFA U21 European Championship final. The Liverpool star was the best player on the pitch - and clearly the most decisive. Elliott proved without a doubt that he's a fantastic player and one worth incredible money. That latter part is particularly relevant as Liverpool are open to selling him. The 22-year-old barely started last season under Arne Slot. Injuries halted things in the opening few months but Elliott simply didn't get many chances after that - despite some brilliant moments. Advertisement Because the truth is, Elliott is a fantastic player. His performance against the Netherlands on Wednesday suggests he's what Liverpool are looking for, too, as Salah's successor. Elliott put up seven shots while playing from the right flank - Salah numbers. It's something the Egyptian has done 26 times in the Premier League since moving to Anfield and a real hallmark of his play. You don't need to be the greatest finisher in the world - the important thing is getting chances. That's the difficult part. Elliott has shown he can do that and it's a trait few players can match. But it also shows that there's real potential from him as a right-winger. Advertisement His 'best' position has typically been seen to be through the middle or in midfield under Jurgen Klopp. Is the secret here actually that Elliott does it all? Is he actually a brilliantly versatile player who can backup Salah like few can while also doing the same for Florian Wirtz? We think he might be, even if Liverpool don't necessarily agree. Regardless, we think a big-match display like Wednesday's - and the similarities to a Salah display - should stop any plans to sell for now.

‘I can't even walk' – Real Madrid mainstay confessed exhaustion after Salzburg clash

Real Madrid secured their place in the round of 16 of the Club World Cup with an impressive 3-0 win over RB Salzburg, showing what many fans are calling their best performance yet under Xabi Alonso. In a bold move, Alonso switched to a 3-5-2 formation, pairing Arda Guler and Jude Bellingham together in central midfield. This decision paid off, with both players delivering standout performances. Advertisement When asked about his tactical choice, Alonso explained, 'I wanted them at different heights. Jude gives us superiority between the lines and has a great ability to arrive in dangerous areas. 'Arda, playing deeper, has a good touch, control, and stays close to the defenders. He does it very well. I'm happy with both of them.' Alonso's words show how seriously the team took this match, treating it like a final and giving everything on the pitch. Bellingham leaves everything on the pitch Jude Bellingham was very tired after the game. (Photo by) As such, it can be stated that no player showed this commitment more than Bellingham. The English midfielder worked tirelessly against Salzburg, covering every blade of grass. Advertisement By the end, he was completely exhausted andas per Defensa Central, told Alonso in the locker room, 'I can't even walk.' His determination and effort were clear to everyone watching. Seeing Bellingham's fatigue, Alonso wisely chose not to take any risks with the Juventus match just days away. He substituted Bellingham in the 81st minute for Brahim Díaz after noticing the staff had to stretch his calves to prevent injury. Despite leaving the field exhausted, Bellingham can be proud of one of his most complete performances so far in a Real Madrid shirt, helping the team secure a convincing victory and advance confidently in the tournament.

Barcelona exploring option to resign former defensive star

According to a recent report from Fichajes, Barcelona have set their sights on bringing Joao Cancelo back to the club as their next major signing. According to the outlet, the 31-year-old full-back has quickly become a top target for new coach Hansi Flick, who wants to strengthen the team's defence and provide more stability on the wings. Advertisement After a season in which Barça struggled with fatigue and injuries in wide areas, Flick believes Cancelo is the perfect player to give his system the balance it needs. Cancelo knows Flick's style Cancelo already spent time at Barça on loan and left a great impression both on the pitch and in the dressing room. His ability to play in multiple positions, helping in both attack and defense, makes him an ideal fit for Flick's flexible style. The German coach knows Cancelo well and appreciates his experience at top clubs like Manchester City and Bayern Munich. Joao Cancelo is back on Barcelona's radar. (Photo by) Advertisement On top of that, Cancelo recently admitted his love for Barcelona, which could make negotiations with his current club, Al-Hilal, smoother. Negotiations begin The aforementioned outlet mentions that talks between the clubs have already started, even though there is no official offer on the table yet. Barcelona are looking at the possibility of making a bid close to €15 million, depending on the funds available after finalising other deals, especially the expected signing of Nico Williams. The club's transfer activity will also depend on planned player sales to balance the books and stay within financial rules. Advertisement With Joan Garcia and Roony Bardghji already signed, and Nico Williams close to being announced, Barcelona are beginning to form a stronger, refreshed squad. The plan is simple but ambitious: build a competitive team ready to hit the ground running from the first day of pre-season under Flick.
