Jets draft picks represent team's ‘tough' brand: Aaron Glenn
Build the brand.
That was the mission of new Jets coach Aaron Glenn in his first NFL draft coaching the team. At the conclusion of Saturday's Day 3, he said he felt like they accomplished it.
'I think the No. 1 thing is we really got guys that fit the brand of who we're going to be,' Glenn said. 'That was something we talked about even starting in free agency to the draft. We're very intentional about guys we want to be a part of this organization. I would say the same thing when it comes to coaches also. Everyone fits. We want to continue that trend because once you do that the core of each person is the same. We might look different. We might act different. But the core of everyone here is the same.'
What is that brand?
'Tough, physical, violent, aggressive, a resilient attitude,' Glenn said. 'If we continue to get guys like that, you'll start to see the brand show up on the grass.'
Time will tell if the Jets landed players who can live up to Glenn's hopes and turn the Jets from perennial losers to a playoff team.

The Jets landed seven players in this NFL draft, including four on Saturday.
On Day 3, they drafted Georgia wide receiver Arian Smith and Alabama safety Malachi Moore in the fourth round and then two players from Miami in the fifth round, linebacker Francisco Mauigoa and edge rusher Tyler Baron.
Those four players joined the picks from the first two days: tackle Armand Membou, tight end Mason Taylor and cornerback Azareye'h Thomas.

The players taken on Saturday can provide some depth for the Jets. Glenn cited his experience as the Lions defensive coordinator last season when they had plenty of injuries as an example of needing guys who may be further down the depth chart.
'You need good, quality depth on your team,' Glenn said. 'I went through the injury bug last year. If anything happens to any of our starters, these guys will be able to come in and play for us.'
The Jets went offense first on Saturday before then taking defense the rest of the day. Smith ran a 4.36 in the 40-yard dash and can take the top off of defenses. The main criticism of him is that he had 10 drops last year for the Bulldogs, but both Glenn and general manager Darren Mougey said the Jets feel like he is willing and able to improve in that area.

The Jets then made the first of two trades Saturday, sending a fifth-round pick (145) and a sixth-round pick (207) to the Eagles in exchange for a fourth-round pick (130), where they took Moore.
Moore was a four-year starter for Alabama, first in the 'star' position where he was a nickel corner and then last year as a safety. He was a team captain for the Crimson Tide.
He said former Alabama coach Nick Saban advised him to switch positions last year to show his versatility to NFL teams.

'A fast, physical, relentless player who's going to compete his tail off for as long as it takes every practice, every game,' Moore said describing himself. 'Somebody who's well prepared and is a fearless competitor.'
Glenn said he spoke to Lions safety Brian Branch, who played at Alabama with Moore, before the draft.
'The first thing that came out of his mouth was 'dawg,' ' Glenn said. 'When you hear that, that gets you excited about the player. Then, getting the chance to watch him on tape and see exactly how he operates, he fits us to a 'T.' I'm excited to have that player. He has some versatility.'
The Jets then took Mauigoa in the fifth round, who can be an immediate contributor on special teams and can back up Quincy Williams and Jamien Sherwood. Mougey made another move in the fifth round, trading a sixth-round pick (186) and a 2026 fifth-round pick to the Ravens in exchange for a fifth-round pick (176) and a 2026 sixth-round pick. They took Baron at 176. Baron began his career at Tennessee and transferred to Miami. The Jets feel like he can develop as a pass rusher under their coaching.

The Lions' Offensive Line May Be a Problem in 2025
The Lions' Offensive Line May Be a Problem in 2025 originally appeared on Athlon Sports. The Detroit Lions have featured one of the NFL's best offensive lines in recent years. In 2024, they consistently opened up running lanes for their backfield and held opposing pass rushes to just 33 sacks while being led by three Pro Bowlers. Advertisement The unit is going to look a lot different in 2025. Kevin Zeitler left in free agency. Now Frank Ragnow has decided to retire. Detroit Lions in a huddleJunfu Han / USA TODAY NETWORK via Imagn Images The Lions are now looking at the interior of their offensive line consisting of an aging Graham Glasgow and two players with a year or less of NFL experience. Glasgow showed signs of decline last season and The Lions Wire's Jeff Risdon revealed that he didn't think Glasgow would make the roster before the Ragnow news. Now he could be changing positions for the 2025 season to start for the Lions, The options to take the other positions could be good. Christian Mahogany was solid in his spot starts last season and Tate Ratledge was taken in round two for a reason. Advertisement The problem is that we just have no idea what to expect from these two or Giovanni Manu and Miles Frazier. It makes the decision to let Zeitler take a $9 million deal elsewhere look even worse than it did at the time. Luckily for the Lions, their division isn't exactly loaded with defensive interiors that strike fear into the hearts of their opponents. However, they'll run into some of the league's best interior defenders in other key matchups against the Chiefs, Ravens, Rams, Buccaneers and Eagles. Those last three teams could be particularly troublesome for the Lions' hopes of contending for a Super Bowl. Advertisement The Bucs, Rams, and Eagles were all playoff teams last season and the Eagles are currently the favorites to win the NFC again in 2025. Last season, it was their defensive front that really swung the Super Bowl as they kept Patrick Mahomes on the run. They've lost Milton Williams, but Jordan Davis and Jalen Carter are still going to be a problem for opponents. If the Lions can get through the top D-lines they'd face in the NFC, they'd then potentially run into star defenders like Chris Jones or Nnamdi Madubuike out of the AFC. The Lions should have no issues dealing with any of these teams on the outside with Penei Sewell and Taylor Decker at the tackle spots, but if the interior offensive line becomes a weakness, it could be a big problem against the NFL's elite. Advertisement The Lions should still be a very good team even with their O-line uncertainty, but for them to reach the Super Bowl that has eluded the franchise for so long, their young guards are going to need to be very good very quickly. Falcons taking calls for potential Kyle Pitts trade — why they could be ‘enticed'
Teams are making calls to acquire Kyle Pitts from the Falcons. ESPN insider Adam Schefter said during an episode of 'The Adam Schefter Podcast' that Atlanta isn't initiating any moves itself, but the organization is certainly fielding offers for the star tight end. 'There also have been teams that have approached the Falcons about trading for Kyle Pitts. I don't think the Falcons are looking to deal him, but they're not turning away the calls, either,' Schefter said. 'If there were a team that were willing to give up enough to get him, I think that they could be enticed into trading the former top-five overall selection to another team.' 3 Kyle Pitts hasn't quite lived up to his NFL expectations just yet. AP Pitts was selected by the Falcons with the No. 4 overall pick in the 2021 NFL Draft out of Florida with loads of potential. After a senior season with the Gators where he was named an All-American and finished top ten in Heisman voting, Pitts was all the rage — with a wide receiver's skillset and speed in a tight end's body, he was a no-brainer pick. Pitts immediately proved the world correct when he made the Pro Bowl as a rookie and racked up over 1,000 yards. But he followed up his strong rookie season with a dud of a sophomore year and posted pedestrian numbers in his next two seasons. 3 Kyle Pitts was taken fourth overall in the 2021 NFL Draft. Getty Images Pitts has shown flashes of the uber-athletic tight end that he seemed destined to become, but Atlanta hasn't been quite able to fully unlock his potential, and a change of scenery could end up paying dividends for the 24-year-old. He's currently in the final year of his contract and will be a free agent come the 2026 offseason. 'The issue there is he's due $11 million in salary this year,' Schefter said. 'I don't know that there are a whole lot of teams lining up to pay the Falcons what it would take and to pay Kyle Pitts what it would take when he's entering the last year of his contract.' 3 Adam Schefter reported that the Falcons aren't completely opposed to dealing Kyle Pitts. The Adam Schefter Podcast Pitts' situation rings similar to Falcons quarterback Kirk Cousins' saga, who has also been in trade talks with Michael Penix Jr. taking the starting job under center. Cousins also holds an undesirable contract, putting Atlanta in a bind if it were to truly push to offload him, and Pitts for that matter.

Tom Brady reveals why he won't 'throw shade' at Patrick Mahomes, NFL stars from broadcast booth
Tom Brady's first year as a broadcaster has come and gone, and it seems he already has a style behind the microphone. After 24 seasons cementing himself as the greatest quarterback of all time, Brady became FOX's top color commentator, joining Kevin Burkhardt to call the Super Bowl. Brady's broadcasting is limited due to his ownership stake in the Las Vegas Raiders, but even without that, Brady doesn't have an interest in bashing players while he's on the call. In a recent interview with Complex Sports, Brady was praised for being "supportive" of Patrick Mahomes, who, at age 29, has already been added to the GOAT conversation with the seven-time Super Bowl champion Brady. "How can I throw shade at someone who's as amazing as he is? I know what he's been through," Brady said. That's his mindset for every player in the game, especially quarterbacks. "And I think the one position that I'm in now as a broadcaster, I do feel a responsibility, A, to tell the fans what I see and be honest and upfront about everything. But also realize that what these guys are doing on the field is extremely difficult," Brady added. "Do they make the right plays all the time? Certainly not. By the way, neither did I. And I think you have to have this context and perspective. "You realize it's not about this harsh critique, and that's really not what it's all about anyway," Brady continued. "To me, it's more about, let's point out the greatness of these individual players. Have fun. Enjoy it. Entertain a little bit. And really try to educate people a little bit. "But that's what I want to do on TV. And thought it was a great season because I've got a great team at Fox. And we're going to keep building on the success we had in year one." Brady signed a 10-year deal with FOX. Follow Fox News Digital's sports coverage on X, and subscribe to the Fox News Sports Huddle newsletter.
