Streaming platforms are undeniably reshaping the definition of stardom. Gone are the days when people thought OTT was for unconventional actors. Earning a staggering ₹ 125 crore for a single show, he's the highest-paid actor on OTT with a net worth of ₹ 427 crore (approximately $50 million USD), as per multiple reports. Ajay became the highest-paid OTT actor in 2021 when he signed for the Hindi adaptation of the hit British series, Luther, Rudra: Edge of Darkness. Salman Khan is believed to charge a similar amount for his film, Bharat. Around the same time, Salman reportedly received a payment of approximately ₹ 50 crore for his 2021 film Antim: The Final Truth. He is likely to earn a little more for his film Radhe which was also released in the same year. Besides them, Saif Ali Khan who became the first superstar of Bollywood to foray into OTT with Netflix's Sacred Games, charged way less than Ajay. He was reportedly paid ₹ 15-20 for the latest, Sacred Games season 2. Even, Varun Dhawan earned between ₹ 12-15 crore for Citadel: Honey Bunny, reported Hindustan Times. ‘Shah Rukh Khan and I hit it off immediately': Netflix CEO Ted Sarandos on his equation with the Bollywood star

Netflix co-CEO Ted Sarandos opened up about his friendship with Bollywood star Shah Rukh Khan. In an interview with Nikhil Kamath, Ted talked about how Shah Rukh was one of the first celebrities he met as soon as he came to India before the release of the OTT platform's first Indian series, Sacred Games, in 2018. (Also Read: Ed Sheeran drops new song Sapphire with desi beats, Arijit Singh vocals. All Shah Rukh Khan fans care about is his cameo) Ted was asked to name an Indian celebrity who's his 'favourite' and he said that he shares a good equation with Shah Rukh. He recollected, 'Early in coming to India, I met Shah Rukh Khan right away. He hosted a very nice dinner for me, and we hit it off immediately. I've come back since, with my wife, and we've had nice times together. We visited each other in Los Angeles when his son was in school. So, having dinner with Shah Rukh Khan in India is much different than having dinner with him in Los Angeles.' Shah Rukh's son Aryan Khan's The Ba***ds of Bollywood will soon drop on Netflix. In the same interview, Ted mentioned that he was also bowled over by Sanjay Leela Bhansali and his 2024 show Heeramandi, which he says felt like a 'dare'. He said, 'Doing Heeramandi was probably one of the most creatively interesting projects I've ever worked on in India. He (Sanjay Leela Bhansali) came in with his very big vision, almost like it was a dare. I dare you to make this, it's so big. And remember, he's a cinema legend. So, the idea that he was gonna make a TV show is almost unheard of. I think he came for us to say no. And when we said yes, it was a complicated production.' Shah Rukh was last seen in the 2023 films Pathaan, Jawan and Dunki. He is now shooting for King, with director Siddharth Anand, his daughter Suhana Khan, and Abhishek Bachchan as his co-stars.

The iconic Mohanlal-starrer hit theatres again on June 6, 2025, and Malayalis everywhere are turning up in full force to relive the magic. Directed by Anwar Rasheed, this action-comedy gem was the film that defined cool for an entire generation. And now, watching it in all its upgraded 4K glory will ignite pure nostalgia in fans. Videos doing the rounds on social media show packed houses in places like Kottayam, with whistles, cheers, and goosebumps galore. One fan summed it up perfectly on social media, 'Chotta Mumbai is not just about Lalettan. It's a full-blown celebration of legends like Rajan P. Dev, Kalabhavan Mani, Haneefikka, and Jagathy Chettan." Another wrote, 'It's better than many of today's releases! That sound, those visuals, that crowd—it's a lifetime celebration!" The man of the hour, Mohanlal himself, shared a heartfelt message along with a throwback still from the film. He wrote, 'Thanks for all the love. #Chottamumbai4k now in theatres near you!" The film follows Vasco Da Gama aka Thala, played by Lalettan, who's the ultimate carefree rebel with a gang of equally jobless besties. They live life on their own terms—until a showdown with a corrupt cop/gangster shakes things up. The film's legendary lineup includes Indrajith Sukumaran, Jagathy Sreekumar, Kalabhavan Mani, Siddique, Manikuttan, and Bijukuttan. On the work front, Lalettan was last seen in Thudarum, a gripping thriller that's now streaming on JioHotstar. He'll also be making a cameo in Kannappa and is all set to reunite with Sathyan Anthikad for Hridayapoorvam. Mohanlal has enjoyed a remarkable career in Indian cinema for over 40 years, appearing in more than 400 films across genres. Recognising his immense contribution to the industry, the Government of India awarded him the Padma Shri in 2001 and later the Padma Bhushan in 2019—India's fourth and third highest civilian honours, respectively. In a historic move, Mohanlal was also conferred with the honorary rank of lieutenant colonel in the Territorial Army in 2009, becoming the first Indian actor to receive such an honour.
