Motorcyclist airlifted after crash with van on border A-road

A motorcyclist was airlifted to hospital after suffering serious injuries in a collision with a van.
Emergency services rushed to the scene of the crash which happened along the A488 near the Powys border at Moreswood, east of Snead, at around 12.15pm on Saturday, June 28.
A spokesperson for the West Midlands Ambulance Service said: 'We were called to reports of an RTC on the A488 near More, Bishop's Castle at around 12.15pm on Saturday (June 28).
'On arrival, crews found a van and a motorbike had been involved in a collision.
'The motorcyclist, a man, was treated for serious injuries before being airlifted to Royal Stoke University Hospital.'
Shropshire Fire and Rescue Service said a crew from Bishop's Castle used an environmental grab pack to absorb leaking liquids from the collision.
The crash happened the day after another collision, also involving a van and a motorcycle, near Mellington Hall.
A white Mercedes Sprinter van and a yellow motorcycle collided at around 1.45pm along the B4385 road towards Bishop's Castle between the Blue Bell Hotel in Pentreheyling and Pentre.

"Waterworld staff and colleagues from the West Midlands Ambulance Service treated the girl at the scene before paramedics took her to hospital for further treatment. "Despite the best efforts of hospital staff, the girl died a short while later. "The girl's next of kin have been informed and are being supported by specially-trained officers." Detective Chief Inspector Lucy Maskew, from Staffordshire Police, said: "Our thoughts are with the family at this terribly sad time. "We are now making inquiries and looking to establish the circumstances of the incident. "We would ask that members of the public avoid speculating in these early stages of the investigation and allow the family to grieve." A Waterworld spokesperson added: "It is with great sadness that we learned of this little girl's passing this evening. "All our thoughts are with her family and loved ones during these extremely difficult times. "Waterworld is in shock and has decided to remain closed tomorrow out of respect for the family. "Waterworld is working closely with the authorities at this sad time."

A four-year-old girl has died at a water park. Staffordshire Police were called to Waterworld in Stoke-on-Trent at 4.20pm on Monday to reports of a girl in a critical condition following an incident at a swimming pool. Waterworld staff and West Midlands Ambulance Service workers treated the girl at the scene before paramedics took her to hospital for further treatment, the force said. The girl died a short while later despite the efforts of hospital staff. Her next of kin have been informed and are being supported by specially trained officers. Det Ch Insp Lucy Maskew said: 'Our thoughts are with the family at this terribly sad time. We are now making enquiries and looking to establish the circumstances of the incident. 'We would ask that members of the public avoid speculating in these early stages of the investigation and allow the family to grieve.' The force asked witnesses or anyone else with knowledge of the incident to call 101 quoting incident number 460 of August 4. The water park in Festival Way has over 30 different rides and attractions as well as an outdoor swimming pool and attracts around 400,000 visitors per year. It opened in 1989 and describes itself as the 'UK's No 1 Indoor Tropical Aqua Park'. A Waterworld spokesman said: 'It is with great sadness that we learned of this little girl's passing this evening. All our thoughts are with her family and loved ones during these extremely difficult times. 'Waterworld is in shock and has decided to remain closed tomorrow out of respect for the family. Waterworld is working closely with the authorities at this sad time.' In a post on Facebook, the company said the incident had happened in the 'Lagoon area of the Aqua Park'. The girl was found unconscious and treated at the side of the pool by lifeguards who performed CPR, the post said. 'All other visitors were asked to quietly leave the pool out of respect for the rescue operation underway, and we would like to thank them for their support and collaboration,' it added.
