NEW DELHI:
PM Narendra Modi
is scheduled to hold the first meeting of the Council of Ministers this week after
Operation Sindoor
and just days before the completion of his first year in his third term in office.
TOI has learnt that ministers were sounded out about the meeting on Wednesday, though its agenda has not been shared yet.
In every Council of Ministers meeting, different government departments make detailed presentations about schemes and programmes, and their progress to apprise all the ministers.
Sources said a discussion on the precision strikes on terror bases in Pakistan under Operation Sindoor and the thrust on public outreach to mark the 11th year of the Modi government are likely to feature in the meeting. Earlier, the PM had briefed cabinet ministers and had asked them to avoid making political commentary.
Some time ago, Modi had advised his ministers to be thoroughly prepared before speaking on any issue in public and is said to have emphasised the importance of preparation by citing his own example, sharing that he meticulously reviews all details and prepares carefully before making any public address.
Recently, some cabinet ministers were given a bunch of important articles published in newspapers and magazines on Operation Sindoor and its significance so that they get a full perspective of India's all-out crackdown on terrorists and terrorism. The articles, including their Hindi translations, were shared with ministers after the last cabinet meeting held earlier this month.

J&K LG Manoj Sinha sacks 3 govt employees, including police constable, allegedly working for terrorist groups

J&K LG Manoj Sinha (ANI/File photo) NEW DELHI: Jammu and Kashmir lieutenant governor Manoj Sinha on Tuesday sacked three government employees, including a police constable, who were allegedly working for terrorist groups Lashkar-e-Taiba and Hizbul-Mujahideen. The accused have been identified as Malik Ishfaq Naseer, the police constable; Ajaz Ahmed, a teacher in the school education department; and Waseem Ahmad Khan, a junior assistant in Government Medical College, Srinagar. — ANI (@ANI) The three are being dismissed with immediate effect, the General Administration Department of the Jammu and Kashmir government said. Between August 2020, when he took office, and 2024, Sinha terminated more than 70 overground workers/terror associates from government jobs under the Constitution of India. The fresh dismissals, meanwhile, come more than a month after the devastating Pahalgam terrorist attack in the Union territory. On April 22, Pakistan-backed terrorists killed 26 men, including 25 tourists and a local in Pahalgam's Baisaran valley. India responded with Operation Sindoor, under which it hit terrorist infrastructure in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir, in the early hours of May 7. This triggered a military confrontation between the nuclear-armed rivals. On May 10, Islamabad reached out to New Delhi requesting cessation of hostilities, resulting in a ceasefire being announced. Shashi Tharoor vs Bilawal Bhutto: 'Interesting' battle of Indo-Pak narratives in Washington today

Pakistan's Former Foreign Minister Bhutto's visit to the US coincides with Tharoor's last phase of the global outreach tour. Both leaders will be in Washington, DC, on Wednesday with their respective delegations read more Congress MP Shashi Tharoor has taken India's narrative against Pakistan's state-sponsored terrorism up an ante, with the leader delivering fiery statements against Islamabad and catching the world's attention. In his final showdown before his all-party delegation returns, Tharoor will face Pakistan's Bilawal Bhutto, who will also be in the US to convey his country's version about the ongoing conflict with India. Pakistan's Former Foreign Minister Bhutto's visit to the US coincides with Tharoor's last phase of the global outreach tour. Both leaders will be in Washington, DC, on Wednesday with their respective delegations. Both groups are aiming to engage with American political leaders and lawmakers to rally support for their respective national interests. STORY CONTINUES BELOW THIS AD Shashi Tharoor noted that the simultaneous presence of both delegations in Washington, DC, could heighten interest, as it would allow the US to hear opposing perspectives, possibly in real time. 'In Washington, we'll have the interesting phenomenon of the Pakistani delegation in America, and almost exactly the same days…Tomorrow they will be in Washington, while we are in Washington on the same date. So, there's going to be perhaps an increase in interest because there are two duelling delegations in the same city,' he told ANI. 'It's a challenging environment. America is a very crowded media space, the world's news generator. Therefore, our story may not be at the top of their minds. But if we can get the attention of those who care about South Asia, those who care about India, those who care about terrorism, we can get our message across very, very easily,' he added. On Monday, Tharoor took a swipe at China for supporting Pakistan's call to shield the names of terrorist organisations at the UN Security Council, while reminding the delegation in Brazil that India's Operation Sindoor was a retaliation for terrorism.
