Kairat boss suffers nightmare Celtic warm up as players blasted over 'childish' goals in title stumble

Rafael Urakhtin did not like what he saw from his men ahead of the mammoth journey to Glasgow for Champions League clash
Rafael Urakhtin blasted his Kairat Almaty players for conceding 'childish goals' after they suffered an extraordinary collapse ahead of taking on Celtic in the Champions League.

Celtic go head-to-head with the Kazakh dark horses on Wednesday for the £40million jackpot that comes with league phase qualification.

But Kairat's preparation has been disastrous as they blew a two-goal lead at home to Yelimay Semey to lose 3-2.

It's in stark contrast to Brendan Rodgers ' men, who blew Falkirk away on Friday night to book their spot in the Premier Sports Cup quarter-finals.
It was only their third league loss in 20 matches and Urakhtin was far from happy ahead of the mammoth journey to Glasgow.
He said: "We have no time to grieve about this result because we are preparing for a very important match in Scotland and have a long journey to make.
"But it was a disappointing defeat for us.
"We were a long way from our best defensively and we conceded childish goals.
"If you are fighting for the league title, you cannot concede goals like this.

"The players actually carried out the instructions well....except for losing those goals.
"We knew they would be difficult to break down, but we managed to do it....and then we conceded stupid goals.
"When my players perform well, I praise them, but when we make such basic mistakes like we did, then I have to point it out."

Livingston 0 Hibernian 2: Lions 'off the pace' as they miss out on Rangers clash

David Martindale's reaction to his side's Premier Sports Cup exit By Ian Steven ‌ A blockbuster quarter-final showdown with Rangers was a prize tantalisingly just out of reach for the Lions as Livingston collapsed to a buoyant Hibernian side in the Premier Sports Cup. ‌ A first half header from Thibualt Klidje and a sickening late screamer from a full 30 yards out by Josh Mulligan put paid to any dreams David Martindale had of repeating his unrequited love affair with the League Cup, with the manager admitting his West Lothian side were off the pace and dealt a valuable lesson by their Edinburgh opponents. ‌ 'I don't think we deserved to go through', the manager stated. 'I think Hibs deserved to go through over the balance. I don't think there's much in the game. First half, we lose our goal at a really poor time, especially being a set play in the run up to half time. 'So you find yourself in the dressing room one down. But I don't think there was a lot in the game. I actually think we're dominating more of the ball in the first half. Second half. I thought the change of shape really helped us and put Hibs under a bit of pressure. We looked like a team that maybe could get the next goal, and then Mulligan comes up with a 30 yarder. 'That's an incredible goal, a good individual goal, and then the game runs away for us at that point. 'I think we spoke about this as a group. That's the first time our group have come up against a top six team, so we played Premiership opponents over the year. Ross County and St. Johnson last year and then obviously Kilmarnock this year twice, played Falkirk four times last year. So I think that was probably the real first test as a group, and there is a gap between that top section in the bottom six. 'So I Hibs are flying at the moment. They've got real positive energy around them. They're in a good moment and that was our first test, and I don't think there was a lot in the game. I think Hibs deserve to go through, but I don't think there was a lot in the game. And if you take out the Mulligan strike, I was fairly happy." ‌ Livingston's only real chances came from a Robbie Muiread run through on goal, but the striker stumbled at the worst possible time, and a couple of Zak Rudden headers that flashed over the bar, leaving Martindale convinced the game had offered a valuable lesson to his charges against Premiership opposition. 'Wee bit off the performance. But that's the Premiership level. That's what you're up against. You kind of get crucified. We probably got away with mistakes last year in terms of maybe not dealing with the safe play properly, but we don't get punished. ‌ "Maybe not getting pressure on the ball for 25-30 yards per year goal and you don't get punished. But that's what happens against the bigger clubs, the top six clubs. 'The players are gonna have to get their head around the fact that will the one difference from last year to this year is going to be the adversity from losing games of football, and it's really important that we don't allow that to bite into a working week. We'll deal with the moment today. We'll deal with that tomorrow. And then I'm not going to touch on it again. "And we need to approach the season in a very similar vein in terms of one game at a time. Don't really look too much at a day. Don't really look too much about the past games. Don't use the negative energy, use the positive. Just focus on that next game.'

Heartbroken Bob MacIntyre wants to smash up his golf clubs as he brutally rejects Scheffler theory

The Scottish golf star watched a four-shot lead evaporate on a baking hot day in Maryland Raging Bob MacIntyre insists his heartbreaking defeat at the BMW Championships had nothing to do with sizzling Scottie Scheffler breathing down his neck. ‌ The Scottish golf star watched a four-shot lead evaporate on a baking hot day in Maryland as the world's best player punished MacIntyre's error-strewn three-over-par round with his own 67 to add to a brilliant year which doubled his major win totals to four. ‌ MacIntyre was off form from the get go and the calmness which underlined his first three rounds at Caves Valley went into hiding as he failed to keep up with the magic Scheffler was able to produce – most notably with his audacious chip-in from the edge of the green on 17th. ‌ The Oban star wasn't having it when he was asked whether the brilliance of Scheffler spooked him. 'Not at all. I mean, I can't control what he does. Look, I mean if he doesn't hole out, he doesn't get up and down, on 17, he holes it. If he didn't get up and down there, my ball didn't fly two yards long, it may have been a different story. But look, he's the better player on the day. Yeah, I'm just really pissed off right now. MacIntyre was then pressed what it would take to overhaul Scheffler and he fired back with an emphatic response. He added: 'I mean, right now, not a clue. Right now, I want to go and smash up my golf clubs, to be honest with you.' Speaking after his latest win, Scheffler said: "I think my consistency has a lot to do with the intensity I bring to each round. I try not to take days or shots off. When it gets to this time of the year it can be a little bit tiring, today was a grind." The defender worked his way through the academy ranks and became the B team's captain. Fraser was handed his first team debut in a 5-2 victory over Dundee at Ibrox in May last year and signed a contract extension the very next day. He went on to make five first team appearances for the Gers in all competitions, including an appearance against Tottenham in the Europa League last season. Fraser spent the second half of last season on loan at Livingston and played 23 times across all competitions. He was a key figure as Livi sealed an instant return to the Scottish Premiership by winning the play-offs. Fraser returned to Ibrox at the end of his loan spell and was in and around the first team during pre-season, and was also named in the Gers' initial Champions League qualifying squad. But he's now heading back to the Championship after sealing a move to Dunfermline Athletic on Friday. This time, the move is a permanent one. After linking-up with Neil Lennon's side, Fraser said he felt it was now time to play regular football and "show that I'm more than capable of holding my own." Billy Dodds on turning down Celtic for Rangers and surviving relegation scare with Aberdeen Now that the dust has settled, Fraser has taken to social media to reflect on a 16-year spell at Rangers. In an emotional Instagram post, Fraser said he's "proud" of everything he achieved and says he lived out his dream of playing for his boyhood club. Fraser said: "Almost 16 years at the club. A club I grew up dreaming and believing I could play for every single day as a young kid. "To say I have went onto achieve this makes me so proud. "From the age of seven at the very start of the academy all the way to now, I've given absolutely everything I could possibly give everyday to the football club. "I've experienced some amazing highs but some tough lows but I've always kept the same attitude no matter what. "I want to say a massive thank you to all of the staff in the academy, first team and behind the scenes who I have worked with and under. "You have worked tirelessly with me over the years to help me become a better player and person. "Secondly a thank you to all of the teammates I shared the changing room and pitch with. "You all pushed me to the maximum to help me become better. I've made friends for life because of this. "And of course a big thank you to the fans of Rangers. Thank you for all your support. I'll always be very grateful. "The club has been almost my whole life so a very long journey with many highs and lows but I leave very proud of what I achieved and with my head held high. "I fulfilled my dream of playing for the club I grew up supporting and watching from the stands. "I wish the club the very best in future. "Thank you Rangers Football Club." Fraser left Rangers despite the club's glaring need for left-back cover. Jefte looks set to return to Brazil with Palmeiras, while Ridvan Yilmaz has been frozen out under Russell Martin. A reinforcement has now arrived, however, with the Gers sealing a loan deal for Jayden Meghoma. The 19-year old has joined the Light Blues from Brentford for the season. Meghoma previously worked under Russell Martin at Southampton before moving to the Bees in a £10million last year.
