Dave Portnoy to send culprits behind antisemitic sign to Auschwitz for Holocaust education
The sign, which read 'f--- the Jews,' was brought out by bottle service staff during a loud party, and footage of the disturbing moment surfaced on social media over the weekend.
Initially vowing to 'ruin' those responsible, Portnoy later said he reconsidered, opting to use the incident as a 'teaching moment.' In a video statement, he called the men 'young, drunk morons' and expressed his deep concern about the rising wave of antisemitism, both globally and personally.
'I've been doing Barstool for 20 years. I've never seen this much hate in my life,' Portnoy said. 'This isn't politics. This is about hating people—my parents, my grandparents. It's disgusting.'
After speaking directly with the men and their families, Portnoy said they agreed to participate in an educational trip to Auschwitz. He is working in coordination with New England Patriots owner Robert Kraft's anti-hate foundation to organize the tour.
Two employees involved in the incident have been terminated.
The Auschwitz concentration camp, operated by Nazi Germany in Poland, was the site of the murder of at least 1.1 million Jews during the Holocaust.
Portnoy hopes the visit will encourage reflection and serve as a warning to others that antisemitic hate speech carries serious consequences. This comes amid a documented surge in antisemitic incidents in the U.S., with the ADL reporting a record number in 2024, many tied to Israel-related tensions.

Dave Portnoy responds to Barstool-Fox Sports deal rumors amid FS1 shake-up
Barstool Sports founder Dave Portnoy has responded to growing rumors that his company is nearing a major media deal with Fox Sports. According to a report by Front Office Sports journalist Ryan Glasspiegel, Fox Sports 1 (FS1) and Barstool are allegedly finalizing a partnership that would feature both Barstool content and Portnoy himself on FS1 programming. The rumored deal includes Portnoy potentially joining FS1's 'Big Noon Kickoff' college football pregame show, while Barstool Sports content would fill programming gaps left by FS1's recent cancellation of several shows—including Breakfast Ball, The Facility, and Speak—amidst a network shake-up that also saw the departure of host Joy Taylor. Portnoy addressed the speculation on social media platform X (formerly Twitter), dismissing the news as 'nothing more than rumors at this point.' In trademark Portnoy style, he also took a jab at his critics, especially Ohio State fans, saying, 'All the crying from Columbus is making me feel like it's Thanksgiving Day weekend again and Michigan is pounding a hapless Buckeye team into the mud.' These are nothing more than rumors at this point. But all the crying from Columbus is making me feel like it's Thanksgiving Day weekend again and Michigan is pounding a hapless Buckeye team into the mud for the billionth straight year. 😂😂😂 — Dave Portnoy (@stoolpresidente) July 16, 2025 Portnoy, an outspoken University of Michigan supporter, has frequently taunted Ohio State, further fueling rivalry-related tensions surrounding the potential move. While the deal remains unconfirmed, the timing of the report coincides with FS1's ongoing restructuring, hinting at a strategic shift in content direction. Should the partnership be finalized, it would mark a significant media crossover and bring Barstool's controversial yet popular brand into the Fox Sports ecosystem.

Pro-Palestinian demonstrator arrested at Tour de France
A protestor runs onto the course at the end of the 11th stage of the Tour de France in Toulouse on July 16, 2025. PHOTO: AFP Listen to article A protestor wearing a t-shirt reading "Israel out of the Tour" was arrested on Wednesday after running onto the final straight of the Tour de France 11th stage. The protestor, who was also holding a Palestinian keffiyeh scarf, got past security barriers and ran towards the finish line in Toulouse as Norway's Jonas Abrahamsen won a sprint finale. The man was intercepted by a race staff member and arrested, the local prefecture said. Several police officers have been assigned to protecting the Israel-Premier Tech team during the Tour. The team was set up by Israeli-Canadian billionaire Sylvan Adams, but there are no Israeli riders in this year's race. With the Gaza war causing international controversy, last year the team said it had asked its riders not to wear jerseys with any reference to Israel while out training as a precaution. The Gaza war sparked by Hamas's attack on Israel on October 7, 2023, which resulted in the deaths of 1,219 people, according to an AFP tally based on official figures. Israel's retaliatory campaign in Gaza has killed 58,573 Palestinians, mostly civilians, according to the health ministry in the Hamas-run territory.

Cristiano Ronaldo gifts signed shirt to Donald Trump with special message
Football legend Cristiano Ronaldo has sent a signed Portugal shirt to US President Donald Trump, including a personal message that reads 'playing for peace.' Ronaldo, currently playing for Al Nassr in Saudi Arabia's Pro League, made the special gesture as Trump attends the G7 Summit in Alberta, Canada. While mingling with world leaders, Trump was presented with the shirt by Portugal's Prime Minister Antonio Costa, a longtime friend and ally of Ronaldo. Costa, who previously served as Portugal's prime minister, shares close ties with the footballer, having witnessed Ronaldo's recent triumph as he captained Portugal to their second UEFA Nations League title. Trump was also seen discussing various geopolitical issues during his time at the summit, including the escalating Israel-Iran tensions. Ronaldo's signed shirt, a symbol of international sportsmanship, serves as a call for unity and peace during a period of heightened global uncertainty. The message 'playing for peace' adds a personal touch from one of the world's most recognised athletes, offering a reminder of the power of sport to transcend borders and promote harmony. Ronaldo, who has been a prominent figure on the international football stage for years, continues to make waves both on and off the pitch. While his career at Al Nassr FC looked in jeopardy, he has reportedly turned down offers from clubs competing in the ongoing FIFA Club World Cup, fuelling speculation of a possible contract extension with his current Saudi Pro League side. As the world looks to resolve the mounting geopolitical crises, Ronaldo's gesture stands as a reminder that sports can play a pivotal role in promoting peace and unity across the globe.
