Kevin Costner sued by stuntwoman Devyn LaBella over ‘violent & unscripted' rape scene in new Western movie Horizon

KEVIN Costner has been accused of making a stuntwoman perform a "violent and unscripted" rape scene in his latest Western film.
Devyn LaBella, 34, has sued the Hollywood star and director for allegedly instructing an actor to pin her down and simulate rape without any formal warning or a rehearsal.

Costner, 70, was acting as well as directing on set for the 2024 movie Horizon: An American Saga – Chapter 2, at the time.
He has denied all the allegations.
LaBella, who played the stunt double for actress Ella Hunt in Horizon, had featured in several scenes during the 2023 filming schedule.
One of these included a planned sexual assault scene on May 1, the suit says.
LaBella, a former gymnast, says she happily agreed to these scenes due to the proper protocol being taken both before and during filming.
These including regular meetings, rehearsals, minimal crew members on set and the presence of an
But a day later, LaBella alleges in the lawsuit that she was asked to return to set and take part in an unscripted scene involving sexual violence.
Costner is accused of directing a fellow actor to pin down LaBella on a wagon before simulating rape.

The lawsuit also claims Costner demanded several retakes.
The scene was initiated with no warning, rehearsal or choreography, according to the stuntwoman.

She also claims there was no indication of when the cameras were rolling during the scenes.
A line in the suit reads: 'There was no escaping the situation, and all Ms LaBella could do was wait for the nightmare to end."
The Los Angeles lawsuit also names the production companies involved as defendants as well as Costner.
Kate McFarlane, the lawyer representing LaBella, described it as a 'clear example of male-dominated, sexist Hollywood movie production'.
She added: 'Our client was subjected to brutal sexual conduct, completely unprotected from the obvious harm."
The lawsuit also claims LaBella was met with 'continuous reminders of the shame, humiliation and complete lack of control' she had on set for the remainder of filming.
This caused her to experience "sudden bouts of crying on and off set', it continued.

As well as denying the allegations, Marty Singer, Costner's lawyer, argued that LaBella was well informed of the scene in advance and had consented to it.
Singer says LaBella did not make any complaints at the time either on set or to her supervisors afterwards.
'She continued to work on the movie for a few more weeks until her wrap date, and she took the stunt co-ordinator to a thank-you dinner," he added.
LaBella has been a Hollywood stunt performer since 2020.

Taylor Swift will release new album in weeks – with ‘superstar collaboration' as she talks about dropping hints 3yrs ago

Read on to find out what Taylor's boyfriend Travis Kelce had to say about their relationship as he gave his most revealing interview yet THE GREATEST SHOWGIRL Taylor Swift will release new album in weeks – with 'superstar collaboration' as she talks about dropping hints 3yrs ago TAYLOR SWIFT only completed her 149-date Eras Tour last December, by which time it had become the highest-grossing tour of all time. While she was criss-crossing the globe, she recorded and released The Tortured Poets Department, which was the best-selling album of 2024 — but instead of taking a break, she is already making a comeback. Advertisement 12 Taylor Swift sent her fans into meltdown when she announced her 12th studio album Credit: Getty 12 Taylor and Travis attend a friend's wedding last year Credit: The Mega Agency 12 A hint posted in October '24 of Miami Hard Rock Stadium seat section A12 (August 12) Credit: X/@TAYVISNATION 12 In orange on page 12, a date hint, in Eras Tour Book In the early hours of yesterday morning, she sent her fans into meltdown when she announced her 12th studio album will be called The Life Of A Showgirl, and will be released in the coming weeks. And it turns out she has spent years dropping Easter eggs — a term used for secret hints — about the record, including a heavy clue that fellow superstar Sabrina Carpenter has collaborated with her on a song. Taylor confirmed the forthcoming release in a teaser video from a podcast — set to be released at midnight tonight — which was recorded with her boyfriend Travis Kelce and his brother, fellow American footballer Jason. In the clip from their New Heights podcast, shared alongside the caption 'Posted at 12:12 on the 12th. Tay's 12th album is called . . . ' she said: 'This is my brand new album The Life Of A Showgirl.' Advertisement READ MORE ON TAYLOR SWIFT A.I'M TOO SEXY AI bot reveals most beautiful singer – with Taylor and Dua in the running The album artwork was blurred in the video, but she has updated all of her pages with the colour orange, having started teasing that would be the album's colour theme last year. She is now keeping the cover secret by obscuring it with an orange padlock on her website. Wearing orange outfits Taylor started dropping hints by wearing orange on night 12 of the European leg of her Eras tour, while performing in Lyon, France, last June. In November, she released her Eras Tour Book and was wearing orange on the 12th page. Advertisement Then on Monday, her official management and social media team @taylornation posted 12 images of the star wearing orange outfits from the tour, with the caption: 'Thinking about when she said 'See you next era . . .'.' All I started thinking of was how do I hint at things, how far is too far in advance? Can I hint at something three years in advance? Taylor And the final image notably featured her with Sabrina, from when they performed together in New Orleans last October. Travis Kelce flirts with Taylor Swift on New Heights podcast as music megastar makes major announcement Welcoming her on stage at the time, Taylor pretended to phone the Espresso singer and said: 'Put on some clothes and come down to the stadium.' Fans are now convinced Sabrina referenced that last week when she shared a photo of herself on Instagram with some washing and the caption: 'Go put on some clothes!' Advertisement In yet another Easter egg posted last October, Taylor hinted at the date she would announce the project. A snap shared online saw her standing in Miami's Hard Rock Stadium with a sign for seated section 'A12' visible — which fans believe is a reference to yesterday's date, August 12. Taylor first played a showgirl in her 2022 video for Bejeweled, which also featured burlesque performer Dita von Teese. She had previously suggested she likes to plant clues three years in advance. Advertisement During a 2021 appearance on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon, she said: 'All I started thinking of was, how do I hint at things, how far is too far in advance? 'Can I hint at something three years in advance? Can I even plan things out that far? I think I'm going to try to do it.' The new album is set to be a major return to the pop sound of her 2014 record 1989, and 2017's Reputation, both of which were created with hit Swedish producers and songwriters Max Martin and Shellback. Max is renowned for being one of the most successful songwriters ever, having worked on hits including Baby One More Time for Britney Spears, Katy Perry's I Kissed A Girl and Blinding Lights for The Weeknd, as well as Shake It Off, Blank Space and We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together for Taylor. Advertisement Shortly after the announcement yesterday morning, billboards in New York and Nashville took users to a Spotify playlist which featured 22 songs by Taylor, all of which have been made with Max and Shellback. However, fans are yet to be told when they will actually be able to get their hands on the new album. It is available to pre- order through her website, where it states the record will ship before October 13, but adds: 'This is not the release date, official release date to be announced.' Taylor is believed to have completed the record earlier this year, and last month The Sun revealed she had shot a music video in Los Angeles. Advertisement However, she has used a series of non-disclosure agreements for everyone involved in the album in a bid to keep details under wraps. 12 The cover of The Life of a Showgirl is covered with an orange padlock on her website Credit: Reuters 12 Taylor Swift Bejewelled music video hints at the title of her new album Credit: Youtube/@taylorswift 12 Taylor's team hinted at collaboration with Sabrina by posting 12 pics of Taylor in orange including this one Advertisement The record was created in secret and she has not been seen entering or leaving a recording studio since December 2023 — before The Tortured Poets Department was released. Taylor has become one of the most prolific musicians in pop since she released her self-titled debut in 2006. And music forecasters believe The Life Of A Showgirl will easily become the biggest-selling album of 2025 within its first week of release, due to the massive demand for the star. Bookmakers William Hill have already made her 1/3 odds-on favourite to be named International Artist Of The Year at next year's Brit Awards. Advertisement Taylor has sold more than 300million records worldwide, racked up 13 No1s on the UK album chart — overtaking Madonna's record of 12 in February — and has had 30 Top Ten singles, including four No1s. As well as her 11 studio albums released so far, she has put out four re-recorded versions after the rights to her back catalogue were bought against her will in 2019. However, in May she announced she had bought back the rights to her first six albums, ending the long-running legal wrangle. She wrote on her website: 'All of the music I've ever made now belongs to me. I've been bursting into tears of joy . . . ever since I found out this is really happening. 'To say this is my greatest dream come true is actually being pretty reserved about it. I can't thank you enough for helping to reunite me with this art that I've dedicated my life to, but have never owned until now. Advertisement 'I almost stopped thinking it could ever happen, after 20 years of having the carrot dangled and then yanked away. 12 Taylor in orange lippy, in a teaser for Travis's New Heights podcast, posted at 12:12 on the 12th Credit: Instagram 12 Sabrina shared a photo of herself on Instagram with some washing and the caption: 'Go put on some clothes!' Travis, who has been with Taylor for two years, said: 'I hadn't experienced somebody in the same shoes as me, having a partner who understands the scrutiny, understands the ups and downs of being in front of millions. That is arguably more exhausting than how much I put in on a Sunday, and she's doing it three, four, five days in a row. 'She is so good at mesmerising everybody and making everybody feel like it's an intimate situation. She's beautiful. She's up there making everyone feel at ease.' And he is enjoying the perks of being the boyfriend of a superstar singer, as he added: 'I get to be the plus one. I get to go and be that fan. Because I am a fan. And it's so cool that I get to experience her being that plus one for me on the football field. 'I sort of made her a football fan. She is the most engulfed fan now. Advertisement 'She knows what the injury reports look like. She understands what special situations are, third and short – all these things because she just naturally loves to hear about my job.' Travis said: 'Whenever I'm with her, it feels like we're just regular people. 'When there is not a camera on us, we're just two people that are in love. It happened very organically, even though from a media standpoint it was being tracked. We fell in love just based off the people we were sitting in a room together with. 'We are two fun-loving people who have the morals to appreciate everyone for who they are. We share all those values. It kind of just took the f*** off.' Lydia Bright slammed for ‘parent-shaming' as she shares medical advice online

TOWIE alum Lydia Bright has been called out for "parent shaming" after sharing medical advice online. The reality TV star, 34, came under fire following her latest Instagram post, which documented a day in her life as a busy mum. Advertisement 6 TOWIE alum Lydia Bright has been called out for 'parent shaming' Credit: Splash 6 It came after she shared medical advice online Credit: PA 6 Lydia linked the rise in ADHD diagnoses to an increased use of screen time Credit: Instagram It showed Lydia playing with her five year old daughter Loretta and cooking together while calling out the increased use of screen time among kids. The former TOWIE fan favourite admitted she was "far from the perfect parent" yet hailed the "routines" she sticks to with Loretta to keep her away from tablets, including "books before bed." Lydia partnered with organisation Health Pros for Safer Screens for her video, yet some fans took issue with one claim in which she linked increased screen time to a "27 per cent rise children struggling with speech and language." She added: "ADHD diagnoses have soared by 56 per cent and one in four 10 year olds are now living with obesity." Advertisement Fans weren't impressed with the link to ADHD, which is a common condition that affects people's behaviour. The disorder, which is often diagnosed in childhood, often sparks symptoms of inattentiveness, hyperactivity and impulsiveness. The ADHD Foundation reveals that attention deficit hyperactivity disorder is one of the most common childhood conditions. One angry follower was quick to comment on Lydia's post and wrote: "Screens don't cause ADHD. The ADHD is already there, so tired of this false narrative just so you can post an ad. Inaccurate and offensive." Advertisement A second posted: "ADHD is genetic, this will make parents feel awful by saying that screen time caused it!" A third mused: "I have to comment but as far as I am aware ADHD isn't related to screen time, it's genetics." Lydia Bright reveals daughter, five, is still co-sleeping One then wrote: "Throwing ADHD in the mix is not good. The only reason ADHD diagnosis is up is because it's being recognised now unlike a few years ago they said it was bad parenting. "Please only post the truth it's important. I agree with you too many parents can you screen time and it's not good for children." Advertisement Another mused: "I'm sorry you haven't been given the correct information about ADHD having specialised and worked with children and young adults. "It's going to offend the hard working parents and guardians alike . ADHD isn't related to screens!" What is neurodiversity? You may have heard of autism and ADHD before. These conditions come under the umbrella term of neurodiversity. Neurodiversity is a term that refers to the natural variation in how human brains work. It is rooted in the idea that neurological differences, such as those associated with autism, ADHD, dyslexia, dyspraxia, Tourette's syndrome, and other conditions, are a normal and valuable part of human diversity rather than deficits or disorders that need fixing. Rather, society should find ways to be more inclusive and accommodating, such as in schools and the workplace. Here's a closer look at two of the key conditions: ADHD ADHD, or attention deficit hyperactivity disorder, is a neurodevelopmental condition that affects how individuals focus, regulate their impulses, and manage their energy levels. Symptoms depend on the type; inattention causes challenges with focusing, organisation and time management, hyperactivity causes excessive energy or restlessness, and impulsivity causes a person to act without thinking or struggle to wait their turn. People can be predominately one type or a mix of the two and symptoms are varied and unique to individuals. While living with ADHD is challenging, people often find unique strengths within their condition, such as the ability to hyperfocus on something they find interesting, problem-solving skills and creativity. Autism Autism is described as a "spectrum" because it encompasses a wide range of traits and abilities. Common features include difficulty with social communication, such as reading facial expressions or tone, repetitive behaviours and routine, sensitivity to stimulation of the senses, e.g. bright lights or loud noises, and detailed, literal thinking. Autism can be challenging, including due to a lack of understanding. But there are key strategies to help those with it thrive. In her caption, Lydia offered more insight in her new collaboration. She wrote: "We're in the middle of a public health crisis that isn't being talked about. Ad* Advertisement "I believe so many parents aren't aware of the developmental, behavioural, physical, and emotional risks of excessive screen time in early childhood. "That's why I've teamed up with @healthprosforsaferscreens to help share the facts. This isn't about guilt tripping, we're all doing our best with the knowledge and tools we have. "But I believe that if parents really knew the dangers that would make different choices. "Which is why I think their free Summer of Connections e-book is a must-read for parents. Advertisement "It's packed with evidence, information and realistic ideas to help families reduce screen time and support new routines, rituals and healthier childhood development. "Head to my stories or bio to download. *Partnering with #healthprosforsaferscreens to raise awareness of screen harms." FAN SLAM Recently, Lydia was mum-shamed for admitting she still co-sleeps with her daughter instead of her partner. She previously came under fire over a sweet video she posted of her five-year-old little girl. Advertisement In the sweet clip, Loretta - whom she shares with her ex-boyfriend Lee Cronin - could be seen fast asleep next to her mum. However, some cruel trolls said she should not be letting her child sleep next to her, if she wants to find a new man. She was also mum-shamed after letting her daughter climb on plane seats. 6 Fans were quick to flag the condition is genetic Advertisement 6 Lydia told of the 'routines' she uses with daughter Loretta to reduce screen time in her new Instagram campaign Credit: instagram/lydiabright
