Police looking for man who robbed woman in flower shop
Kuala Langat deputy police chief Deputy Superintendent Mohd Sufian Amin said this followed a report by a woman at 4.50pm yesterday claiming that she was robbed at the flower shop at about 1.30pm.
According to the report, the woman claimed a group of men, with their heads covered and armed with a parang, arrived in a white car and approached her in the shop.
"One of them pointed a parang at her before snatching a gold necklace, worth RM4,000, she was wearing and then fled," he said in a statement here today.
Mohd Sufian said the victim, who was with her child in the shop, was not harmed.
He said the police had opened an investigation paper under Section 395/397 of the Penal Code and urged members of the public with information regarding the incident to contact the Kuala Langat district police headquarters (IPD) operations room at 03-31872222 to assist in the investigation.

Perikatan leaders raise concerns over NFA status for several harassment cases
KUALA LUMPUR: Perikatan Nasional leaders have raised concerns over the "no further action" (NFA) status of several recent harassment cases, despite the presence of compelling evidence. Machang MP Wan Ahmad Fayhsal Wan Ahmad Kamal, together with Masjid Tanah MP Datuk Mas Ermieyati Samsudin and Mersing MP Muhammad Islahuddin Abas, highlighted a case involving a young girl allegedly assaulted by a foreign worker at a shop. "The situation is alarming, as clear evidence has emerged but no substantial action has been taken by the authorities," Wan Ahmad Fayhsal said at a press conference at the Parliament media centre here on Tuesday (Aug 12). He claimed that the girl's father had confronted the shop owner and recorded a confession from the alleged perpetrator. "The investigation revealed that the shop's CCTV was not operational during the incident, raising suspicions. "However, the father now faces charges under the Penal Code and the Communications and Multimedia Commission Act for distributing the video of the confession," he said. Expressing frustration over the handling of the case, Wan Ahmad Fayhsal questioned the rationale behind the NFA status of the girl's case, urging for more proactive measures to prevent similar incidents from escalating. "As a father myself, this is hard to see because the father was only protecting his child. "We cannot wait for another incident to escalate before taking action," he said. Mas Ermieyati, head of Perikatan Nasional's Women's Wing, called for better training for police officers in handling such cases. "There are many unreported cases because victims fear coming forward," she said, criticising the current legal system. "Under Section 133A of the Evidence Act, a child's testimony can be accepted if they understand the questions," she noted. They also claimed that in the case, which happened in February 2025, the child's statement had not been properly recorded, and the suspect was released without remand. Both Wan Ahmad Fayhsal and Mas Ermieyati said Perikatan is ready to support the victim's family, urging the authorities to ensure justice is served effectively. "If the father is charged, Perikatan Nasional will provide legal assistance. We will protect the victims of harassment and assault," added Wan Ahmad Fayhsal.

Decade-old scheme: Company director charged with cheating 3 Singaporeans, Malaysian
JOHOR BAHRU: A Singapore-based company director pleaded not guilty in the Johor Bahru Sessions Court on Tuesday (Aug 12) to four charges of cheating three Singaporeans and a Malaysian of RM155,000 in a company investment scheme a decade ago. Chong Kok Ming, 54, a Singapore permanent resident, is jointly accused with a Singaporean man still at large of deceiving Lim Swee Chong, Lim Swee Joo, Ho Sang Bin and Puah Kot Choon into depositing money into the account of a Malaysian-registered company. The accused allegedly made false promises, inducing the victims to believe they would be registered as shareholders in a local company and entitled to annual dividends. Losses amounted to RM71,250 each for Lim Swee Chong and Lim Swee Joo, and RM6,250 each for Ho Sang Bin and Puah Kot Choon. The alleged offences took place at a bank in Jalan Cengal, Taman Makmur, Batu Pahat, on Oct 15, 2014. He was charged under Section 417 of the Penal Code, read with Section 34, which carries a maximum penalty of five years' imprisonment, a fine, or both upon conviction. Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) deputy public prosecutor Chan Lee proposed a bail of RM15,000 for each charge. Chong's lawyer, K Veeranesh, sought a lower sum, citing his client's monthly income of SGD10,000 and the fact that he supports his wife and two children, aged 21 and 25. Judge Datuk Ahmad Kamal Arifin Ismail set bail at RM20,000 in total for all charges, with one surety, and fixed Sept 17 for case mention.

Cops nab murder suspect in Senawang
SEREMBAN: Police have arrested a suspect in the fatal stabbing of a 28-year-old man in Taman Seri Pagi, Senawang, near here. Seremban OCPD Asst Comm Mohamad Hatta Che Din said police also seized a knife believed to have been used in the crime from the 31-year-old male suspect. He said a police team was sent to the crime scene following a call from a member of the public on Monday (Aug 11) evening. "Based on preliminary investigations, the incident resulted from a disagreement between the suspect and the victim. "The suspect then stabbed the victim in the chest, resulting in his death," he said in a statement on Tuesday (Aug 12). ACP Hatta said the victim died on the spot and the case is being probed under Section 302 of the Penal Code for murder. Police have also obtained an order from the court to remand the suspect until Monday (Aug 18). "We are still investigating the motive of the murder," he said, urging anyone with information to come forward and assist the investigation.
