NDA: Convocation of the landmark 148th course today
The convocation ceremony for 148th course of the NDA which comprises the first batch of women cadets will be held on Thursday. Prof Dr Poonam Tandon, Vice Chancellor, Deen Dayal Upadhyay University, Gorakhpur, will be the Chief Guest.
The cadets will be conferred the degree and course completion certificates from Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU). The degrees awarded include those in Science stream, Computer Science and Social Science stream. Some of the cadets of Navy and Air Force and cadets from the BTech stream will receive their three years course completion certificates. These Naval and Air Force cadets will be conferred with the degrees after completion of one year training at their respective pre-commissioning training academies i.e. Indian Naval Academy and Air Force Academy (AFA) respectively.
General Vijay Kumar Singh (Retd), former Chief of Army Staff and current Governor of Mizoram, will be the Reviewing Officer for the Passing Out Parade (POP) of the historic 148th course of the National Defence Academy (NDA), scheduled for May 30.

Visakhapatnam: The Tri-Services All-Women Sailing Expedition team returned home after completing a ground-breaking 1,800-nautical-mile international voyage to Seychelles. The historic expedition, commenced on April 7, marks the first-ever international open-sea sailing mission by an all-women team from the Indian Armed Forces. The expedition was flagged-in by Commandant, College of Military Engineering Lieutenant General AK Ramesh in Mumbai. He hailed the mission as a milestone in the journey of gender-inclusive operational excellence. Applauding the courage and determination of the team, he emphasised the growing role of women as key contributors to the Armed Forces' operational strength. Aboard the indigenously-built Indian Armed Services Vessel 'Triveni', a 56-foot sailing yacht, the team of 11 women officers from the Army, Navy and Air Force navigated nearly two months of challenging open-sea conditions. Enduring tropical squalls, rough sea states, and extended fatigue, the crew demonstrated exceptional endurance and unflinching resolve. Indian Army - Lt Col Anuja, Maj Karamjeet, Maj Tanyah, Capt Omita, Capt Dauli and Capt Prajakta from Indian Army, Lt Cdr Priyanka from Indian Navy, Sqn Ldr Vibha, Sqn Ldr Shraddha, Sqn Ldr Aruvi and Sqn Ldr Vaishali fromIndian Air Force formed part of the crew. During its stopover in Seychelles, the crew participated in a series of high-level defence and diplomatic engagements, including formal interactions with the Seychellois Minister of Foreign Affairs, the Chief of Combined Defence Staff and the High Commissioner of India to Seychelles. These events served to strengthen maritime diplomacy and further India's strategic partnership with the Indian Ocean Island nation. The initiative represents more than a naval feat as it is a celebration of 'Nari Shakti' in the Indian Armed Forces. It also stands as a shining example of Tri-services synergy. 158 Agniveers pass out from 14 Gorkha Training Centre in Subathu
Subathu (Himachal Pradesh) [India], June 5 (ANI): A strength of 158 Agniveers passed out in an impressive Passing Out Parade at the historical Salaria Stadium of 14 Gorkha Training Centre in Subathu, an official release said on Thursday. The recruits, who swore allegiance to the Indian Republic, underwent rigorous training for over 31 weeks in various aspects of physical fitness, battle and field craft, weapons, and tactics. As per the release, the Agniveers would now be joining the Gorkha Battalions of First and Fourth Gorkha Rifles of the Indian Army, having a rich and glorious military history of over 200 years of valour and sacrifice. Brigadier Puneet Sharma, Commandant 14 Gorkha Training Centre reviewed the parade. He also addressed the parade, wherein he motivated all the recruits to keep the National and Indian Army flag flying high across all frontiers of the Country. The parade was followed by a melodious Pipe Band display of martial music with excellent synchronisation. The function concluded with a breath-taking Physical Training Display that left the spectators awe-inspired. More than 300 serving persons, Ex-Servicemen, parents, and relatives of Agniveers graced the event. Earlier today, the Jammu and Kashmir Light Infantry (JAK LI) Regiment Centre in Srinagar held the Passing Out Parade (POP) of its fifth batch of Agniveers, marking the induction of 326 recruits into the Indian Army. The newly inducted Agniveers completed 31 weeks of physical, mental, and tactical training before marching in unison during the attestation ceremony. Senior Army officers, instructors, and recruits' family members attended the event. The Reviewing Officer, a senior Army official, congratulated the newly inducted soldiers and encouraged them to uphold the rich legacy of the JAK LI Regiment with unwavering commitment and courage. Chennai, June 5 (UNI) The iconic Govindaswamy Drill Square at the Madras Engineer Group and Centre in Bengaluru resonated with pride and precision as it hosted the Passing Out Parade (POP) of the fifth batch of Agniveers. A total of 568 Agniveers proudly marked the culmination of their rigorous training in a grand ceremonial event, symbolizing their transition into the Indian Army amidst the ongoing Operation Sindoor, a defence release here today said. The celebrations reflected the indomitable spirit, discipline, and commitment of the Madras Sappers. The ceremonial parade, a visual spectacle of military decorum, saw Agniveers clad in ceremonial attire, blue 'Dooptas', gold and maroon jari bands, and pristine white spats, marching with impeccable precision to the stirring tunes of the military band. The performance was a testament to the high standards of training imparted by the Centre, and to the core values of excellence upheld by the Madras Sappers. The event was reviewed by Brigadier Ajay Singh Thakur, Commandant, Madras Engineer Group and Centre, who commended the Agniveers on their outstanding display of drill and professionalism. Addressing the parade, he lauded the young soldiers for their dedication and readiness to serve the nation with honour and pride.
