Those trying to satisfy their late night sweet tooth craving with an Oreo McFlurry may have even more time to get one this summer.
McDonald's confirmed most restaurants nationwide will extend hours this summer, allowing for more evening feasting amid an ongoing hiring surge.
The fast food giant confirmed the majority of U.S. locations will remain open until midnight or later. This excludes restaurants in airports, shopping malls or other areas that prohibit extended operating hours.
"Our fans know there's no better way to end an unforgettable night than by feasting on your favorite McDonald's order," the company wrote in a statement shared with USA TODAY. "That's why, as the summer season kicks off, we're excited to offer up more ways for customers to satisfy their late-night cravings with more choices and expanded hours at more restaurants."
To celebrate the extended hours, the chain is offering 1,000 free virtual gift cards on May 24. Anyone who posts with #DipforMcCrispyStripsGiveaway on their Instagram story and tags the company @GoFooji will enter for a chance to win.
McDonald's hiring over 300,000 new workers this summer
The extended hours comes as McDonald's announced on May 12 that it would be opening up to 375,000 new positions in the U.S. this summer.
The hiring blitz is one of the largest in years, the company said in a news release. The chain said its planning a rapid restaurant surge with a goal of 50,000 new locations by 2027, an increase in 900 restaurants over the next two years.
"I often think about the time I spent working in our restaurants as a General Manager, and it was immediately clear that crew members are the heart and soul of this brand," McDonald's USA's Joe Erlinger said in a news release.
There nearly 2 million McDonald's employees globally, according to the chain, with 1 in 8 people having worked in one of its restaurants.

Aldi summer price cuts are back. 400+ items will be marked down for the season.

Aldi announced their summer price cuts are back. Aldi's move comes as about two-thirds of Americans (67%) said they remained very concerned about food and consumer goods prices, according to a Pew Research Center survey of 3,589 adults in April. Here's what to know about the summer savings. The discount grocery chain said it will be reducing prices on nearly 25% of its products – more than 400 items, including meat and produce – at its more than 2,400 stores. Prices will be reduced as much as 33% on the 400+ products over the summer, Aldi chief commercial officer Scott Patton told USA TODAY. Nearly one in four households shop at Aldi stores, he said, citing Circana data. "Summer's for grilling out, camping, concerts, and quality time with friends and family – not stressing over grocery bills," he said. "That's why we decided to offer even lower prices on ALDI favorites all summer long. Our unique business model with smaller store footprints, 90% private brands and strong supplier partnerships means we can deliver real savings where other grocers can't." Aldi's price cuts kick off June 5 and will be valid through Labor Day. The price cuts will likely save shoppers about $100 million – similar to the amount of money shoppers collectively saved with its reductions last year and more than the $60 million saved in 2023. Clancy's: Chili Lime Potato Chips - was $1.89, is now $1.79. Friendly Farms: 2% Ultra-Filtered Milk – was $4.39, is now $3.89. Millville: Protein Pancake Mix – was $3.79, is now $3.49. Mama Cozzi's: Mini Pizza Bagels – was $6.29, is now $5.99. Summit: Popz Prebiotic Soda - was $1.59, is now $1.49. Too Much ‘Boom and Splat' but McDonald's Can Serve Up Sales Lift in Q2

Shares in fast food giant McDonald's (MCD) were less tasty today despite analysts suggesting it was on track to meet Q2 sales expectations with a little help from Minecraft. Confident Investing Starts Here: Promotional Success Five-star TipRanks-rated analyst Andrew Charles of TD Cowen said the group was on track to hit same-store sales of 2.8%, boosted by its collaboration with the film A Minecraft Movie in April. This included a Minecraft Movie meal with collectibles. However, despite the success of the promotion, Charles, who talked to a number of industry experts about the iconic fast-food brand, said it showed how McDonald's was the victim of a boom/splat mentality. This means that the business continues to see 'short-term spurts in reaction to promotions before trends quickly return to softer, pre-promotion levels.' Indeed, in its Q1 earnings in early May it saw revenue decline 3% year-over-year to $5.96 billion. More importantly, global comparable sales were down 1%, with U.S. sales dropping 3.6% due to fewer customers Nice Pie Instead, the experts Charles spoke to said the company had to return to a more durable sales growth pattern. This includes innovating at lower prices rather than discounting core items; implementing a more frequent cadence of menu innovation; and relaunching successful past menu items such as Fried Apple Pies. The experts were more bullish on a second-half sales improvement this year, fueled by the addition of McCrispy Strips to its menu. Despite this, Charles expects its shares to remain range-bound between $305-$320 until more durable sales growth is evident. He has a price target of $305 on the stock and a Hold rating. Is MCD a Good Stock to Buy Now? On TipRanks, MCD has a Moderate Buy consensus based on 14 Buy and 10 Hold ratings. Its highest price target is $364.
