Former Doctor Odyssey crew allege rampant harassment, sue Disney for retaliation and toxic work culture

Time of Indiaa day ago

A disturbing lawsuit filed in Los Angeles Superior Court has cast a shadow over Doctor Odyssey, the medical drama from 20th Television and Ryan Murphy Television, with three former crewmembers accusing Disney of allowing a workplace rife with sexual misconduct and retaliation.
Allegations of harassment and a toxic environment
Caroline Mack, Alicia Haverland, and Ava Steinbrenner allege that they endured a 'persistent and unchecked campaign' of sexual harassment while working in the props department. The complaint describes repeated verbal abuse, inappropriate touching, and retaliation after reporting the incidents to management.
Tyler Patton's conduct at the centre of the lawsuit
The plaintiffs worked under assistant prop master Tyler Patton, whose behaviour is at the centre of the complaint — though he is not listed as a defendant. According to the lawsuit, Patton created an environment where sexual comments and discomfort were routine. The suit alleges he made crude remarks, including asking aloud why one crewmember 'had not been broken yet,' and referring to another with vulgar suggestions about oral sex.
Patton is also accused of sending explicit content to colleagues under false pretences. In one incident, he allegedly sent a link appearing to reference political news. Upon clicking, recipients were redirected to a pornographic image. The plaintiffs claim Patton later joked that only his relationship with the prop master, his wife, Tammie Patton, prevented his firing.
HR complaints and claims of retaliation
The plaintiffs reported this to human resources and their union. They allege that 20th Television and Disney were aware of ongoing misconduct, including issues related to mishandling replica firearms. Patton was eventually terminated. However, the lawsuit claims that Tammie Patton retaliated by giving the women degrading tasks and threatening their job security.
According to the complaint, the entire props department, except Patton's replacement, was later dismissed under the guise of a layoff. The plaintiffs argue that this was a strategic move to silence complaints and remove any remaining ties to the controversy. They allege the department was quickly replaced with new hires for the same production.
Ongoing industry fallout
Since the incident, Mack, Haverland, and Steinbrenner state they have been unable to secure further work on Disney or 20th Television sets, effectively blacklisting them from the industry.
The lawsuit accuses Disney and its affiliates of sexual harassment, retaliation, wrongful termination, and negligent hiring. The plaintiffs seek unspecified damages. As of now, Disney and 20th Television have not commented.
Meanwhile, Doctor Odyssey , starring Joshua Jackson as a physician aboard a cruise ship — remains the only ABC scripted series still without a decision on its future.

Viral video shows girl singing on delayed Delta flight, passengers call it ‘worst nightmare'

A viral clip shows a little girl belting out a rendition of 'How Far I'll Go,' from Disney's hit animated movie Moana, on a Delta Airlines flight from Florida, receiving mixed reactions from the other passengers. The video, shared initially on TikTok, shows a girl taking over the flight intercom to sing the song as passengers waited for the flight to take off after hours of delay. The clip shows the girl singing her heart out, standing in the middle of the cabin as some joined her while others quietly watched her perform. After the clip went viral, many passengers shared their reaction to the impromptu concert. 'Flight got delayed, and this little girl won't stop singing Moana. Get me off this plane," said one of them. 'This is actually my worst nightmare and personal hell,' said another user while a third wrote: "The worst part is, if you're watching a movie on the plane, the movie pauses when someone makes an announcement. So everyone was forced to stop what they were doing to listen to her." However, others praised the young child for entertaining her co-passengers. "When your flight gets delayed by 2 hours and you circle Orlando for another 2... But then a little girl sings Moana on the crew mic and suddenly everything feels okay,' wrote one of them. 'She's on key and on tempo. It could be much, much worse,' said another. While the girl's motivation to perform is not known, a Delta Air Lines spokesperson told Newsweek that they appreciated her efforts: 'We appreciate the customer sharing her talents and apologise to our customers for the delay in their travels," they said. Another passenger told the Independent that the plane was delayed due to bad weather and waited for an hour on the tarmac before it took off. She recalled that inside the plane, it was 'really hot' and 'packed," and "all of a sudden [a flight attendant] shares with us that they have a sweet little girl that would love to share, or sing, a song with us.' 'We were confused. And then she started singing. And I thought she was gonna sing maybe like up until the chorus part, or end at the chorus, and then we were all going to go along our merry way. But no, she sang the whole song. There was some scattered applause. But it was also very uncomfortable," she said.

Aamir Khan CONFIRMS Sitaare Zameen Par Will Only Release In Theatres, Not On OTT

Last Updated: Aamir Khan confirms Sitaare Zameen Par will release only in theatres on June 20, 2025, denying reports of a YouTube or OTT release. Aamir Khan is gearing up for what may be one of the most significant films of his career — Sitaare Zameen Par, a spiritual successor to his beloved 2007 film Taare Zameen Par. The film, inspired by the Spanish hit Champions (2018), is set to release on June 20, 2025, and fans have been eagerly awaiting details about where they can watch it. Speculation recently spread that the film might skip traditional OTT platforms altogether and be released exclusively on YouTube via a pay-per-view model — a move that surprised many in the industry. However, Aamir Khan has now put those rumors to rest. In a candid chat with Raj Shamani on his podcast, Aamir addressed the swirling reports and clarified his stance on the release model. 'Maine bohot saari theories padhi hain, alag-alag proposals aaye hain film ko release karne ke liye, par main sabko side mein rakh raha hoon, aur main sirf ek cheez pe dhyan de raha hoon — theatrical," he said, doubling down on his belief in the cinema-going experience. Aamir didn't just clarify the release date — he also made it very clear that Sitaare Zameen Par will have no OTT release at all. Not on Netflix, not on Amazon Prime Video, and not even on Disney+ Hotstar. 'Sitaare Zameen Par jo aayegi, sirf theatre mein aayegi," he confirmed. He went on to express his concern for how the theatrical industry has suffered due to the increasingly shorter window between theatrical and digital releases. 'Ek time tha jab OTT 6 mahine baad aata tha, ab woh kuch hafte baad aa raha hai — mujhe woh suit nahi hota," Aamir explained, suggesting that this shift has diluted the importance and impact of a theatrical run. Aamir emphasized that while he has no issue with streaming platforms, they simply don't align with his vision for this particular film. 'Mujhe OTT se koi takleef nahi hai — agar main koi content OTT ke liye banaunga, toh direct OTT pe leke aaunga," he stated clearly. He added that he had received multiple offers from different platforms but had 'respectfully declined" all of them. For Aamir, this isn't just about one film. It's about preserving an entire culture of watching cinema together. 'Theatre ka agar business khatam hoga, phir aage socha jaayega kya karna hai," he concluded, highlighting that for now, his focus is entirely on bringing people back to theatres. Marvel to skip Hall H at San Diego Comic-Con 2025 amid Avengers: Doomsday and Secret Wars delay

Panels focused on comics and video games are still on the schedule, and the studio will host a booth promoting The Fantastic Four: First Steps Marvel Studios is officially stepping away from San Diego Comic-Con's Hall H stage this year. While the studio will still have a presence at the July 24–27 fan convention, reports have confirmed it won't be hosting its signature Saturday night presentation in the massive Hall H arena. The decision comes just days after Disney and Marvel pushed the release of Avengers: Doomsday to December 18, 2026. The highly anticipated film had previously been a key piece of the studio's promotional plans, and sources say the revised timeline prompted Marvel to sit this year out in terms of big-screen reveals. With Secret Wars also slated for the following December, the studio is now positioning itself for a larger splash at Comic-Con 2026.
