Davina McCall 'not afraid of dying' after brain tumour removed

Former Big Brother presenter Davina McCall has said she is "not afraid of dying" after she underwent an operation to remove a benign brain tumour. In April, the 57-year-old confirmed her "final MRI" had showed a colloid cyst, which she had removed in November 2024, is "not coming back", after it was found when she was offered a health check-up as part of her menopause advocacy work. McCall told Fearne Cotton's Happy Place podcast: "I am not afraid of dying anymore and it was the biggest journey of my life. From August 23 to November 24 was an amazing time where something changed. " Begin Again, the podcast I started to help other people on their journey of living a life that they love enough to feel on their deathbed, whenever that may be, that I have no regrets. "I have lived the life I wanted, and I'm not lying there going, 'I wish I'd done that thing, wish I'd done that job, I wish I'd not stayed in this relationship', all of those I haven't lived the life I want (things), and Begin Again is about just begin again and live the life you want." McCall, who is a judge on ITV singing show The Masked Singer, said her only concern about death is how her family would cope. Speaking about the time her tumour was found, she added: "I thought I need to get my brain in the right place and that was to a place where I could be calm, and what did I need to do to do that? Were my kids going to be okay if I didn't make it? That's all I really cared about. "I knew Michael (Douglas, her partner), Michael's a whole person, Michael's Michael, but I was really worried about my kids. "I went forensic on thinking about my children and where they were at in their life, what stage they were at. You're only as happy as your unhappiest child, right? "I came to a realisation after about six months of cross-examining them about their life and telling them the whole time how much I've loved my life. My eldest daughter kept caught on. She was like, 'you are not dying', I was like, 'no, no, no', I realised that they would be great. "They'd miss me and I want to be with them but they would be okay. I felt like I could go to sleep on the operating table and know that they were all here to help me, but I can let go of the outcome and it was the best gift. I am not afraid of dying." After her surgery, McCall spent time in intensive care before recovering at home with the help of Douglas. She spoke about the removal of the tumour while co-presenting this year's Red Nose Day for Comic Relief and said it was "the hardest thing I've ever been through". According to the NHS, non-cancerous brain tumours are more common in people over the age of 50, and symptoms include headaches, vision problems and drowsiness, and some can be "difficult to remove without damaging surrounding tissue". McCall, the host of reality dating show My Mum, Your Dad, has long advocated for women's health issues, and has presented a documentary called Sex, Myths And The Menopause and another on contraception called Davina McCall's Pill Revolution. The full interview can be listened to on the Happy Place with Fearne Cotton podcast.

Love Island fans work out reason Dejon apologised for his behaviour with ‘PR speech' during awkward Aftersun grilling

Dejon and Meg appeared on Aftersun after being brutally dumped on tonight's episode LOVE GAMES Love Island fans work out reason Dejon apologised for his behaviour with 'PR speech' during awkward Aftersun grilling DEJON Noel-Williams has defended his romance with Meg Moore on Love Island – while saying he needs to "reflct on his actions". The couple, who have split viewership with their romance were put up against Ty and Angel on tonight's episode for a shock final dumping led by Maya Jama. Appearing shortly after on Aftersun, Dejon and Meg were grilled on their romance and time in the villa, with Maya asking them about missing out on the final. "We definitely expected it. We were really to go home, to be honest," Dejon told her. "I mentioned to the few boys that, like, I feel like my Love Island experience is finished because I came here and got what I wanted with Meg." Advertisement During the final vote, the pair's connection was called into question, with some noting that they didn't think Dejon could remain faithful outside the villa as he had his "head turned" with newcomers frequently. However, others thought they had already passed the honeymoon period, with their squabbles being a sign of a settled relationship. "It was interesting the way that we got dumped, because I feel like the decisions were definitely… you kind of heard from both people's point of view," Dejon said. "Some people saw bad things and some people saw good things. So it definitely made me in this time of being like reflect on my actions over the villa." Advertisement When Maya asked if he understood why some people may have thought he had a game plan, Dejon added: "Yeah, definitely. "Coming in, I just thought, I'm on Love Island. I'm gonna explore connections, I'm gonna be flirty, I'm gonna see what my strongest connection was," he explained. Love Island OG's Meg and Dejon DUMPED by returning islanders "But in the back of my head, I always knew it was Meg, so I definitely see why that kind of… there's a lot of opinions about that, and I feel like I could have explored connections with being less flirty and stuff." "I definitely understand why people have their opinions regarding that, and even there's times that, honestly, she's stuck by me, and she tells me how she feels, and she stuck by me more than more than she should. More than I deserve a lot of times. Advertisement "I'm very, very grateful for her, and now hopefully I can show what she deserves." While the sweet moment seemed to go down well with Meg, viewers still remained unconvinced, questioning Dejon's authenticity and claiming his comments were "practiced" and for clout. 6 The couple have left boyfriend and girlfriend, asserting they're set to last Credit: ITV 6 Dejon and Meg were one of the longest standing couples in the villa Credit: Eroteme Advertisement "The PR tour has started already with Meg and Dejon on #aftersun 'ready to leave' sureeeeeee," wrote one. "Giving too much pr don't let dejon get away with it," noted a second, while a third said: "Dejon doing the old PR routine in this interview." While others thought he had an ulterior motive, claiming: "The way Dejon keeps waffling on on Aftersun it reeks of trying to still get a brand deals when he's actually back in the UK." "Dejon is doing a whole lot of talking but not actually saying anything," said another. Advertisement 6 Dejon and Meg have divided viewers who have questioned their authenticity Credit: ITV
