When, how to watch Cowboys Zack Martin's retirement press conference
The end is here for Zack Martin.
The nine-time Pro Bowl right guard will officially announce his retirement at The Star in Frisco on Wednesday, March 5 at 11 a.m. CT, the Cowboys have revealed. The press conference will be streamed live from the team website.
He was a first-round draft pick out of Notre Dame in 2014, his selection drawing attention- at first- in that he was not polarizing Texas A&M quarterback Johnny Manziel, who Cowboys owner Jerry Jones was said to be infatuated with as the team came on the clock.
But Martin quickly made a name for himself based on his dominating play in the trenches, earning first-team All-Pro honors as a rookie... and then going on to do it six more times over a total of eleven seasons in Dallas. He would make the second team twice, leaving only two years in which he was not named either the best or second-best right guard in the sport.
Though he never got to enjoy deep postseason success, Martin's career will be remembered for consistent excellence. Moving forward, his name will likely always be accompanied by the mind-blowing stat that, over 171 starts (including playoffs), he was flagged for holding a grand total of seven times.
Even more incredibly, not one of them ever came on a pass-protection play.
Martin suffered an ankle injury during the Cowboys' Week 11 loss to Houston. He had to be helped off the field in what ended up being the final action of his stellar career. A few weeks later, it was announced that Martin would require surgery.
Earlier that same day, Martin had been chosen to be the team's nominee for the Walter Payton NFL Man of the Year Award.
"Zack's the best," quarterback Dak Prescott said this week. "It's hard to even fathom a locker room or huddle without Zack Martin. He's been here since I've been here and he's been a warrior. ... You just can't replace him with one guy. It's going to take myself and a bunch of other guys, and I'm not even talking about just on the field. I'm talking about the leadership he brings off of the field."
The most dominant offensive lineman of his generation, Martin is widely considered to be a shoo-in for the Pro Football Hall of Fame one day and perhaps the Cowboys' vaunted Ring of Honor.

Both teams worked through a scoreless first inning before LSU got on the board in the top of the second inning. The Tigers plated three runs in the top of the second as Chris Stanfield hit an RBI single, a pitch with the bases loaded hit Michael Braswell III, and Josh Pearson reached on a fielder's choice to make it 3-0. After that, Kade Anderson and the LSU defense would go to work. The Tigers rolled a couple of nice double plays to get LSU out of a few innings. Nets' Kenyon Martin had beef with Tracy McGrady in their playing days

Nets' Kenyon Martin had beef with Tracy McGrady in their playing days The Brooklyn Nets had some great players come through the franchise ever since the team was located in New Jersey and was led by Jason Kidd and Vince Carter. One of the players who made his mark in the NBA with the Nets, Kenyon Martin, ended up having beef with another NBA great in Tracy McGrady due to his physical Martin played during his younger days. "Kenyon Martin. That's my dude, too. I love Kenny. I love the way he played. I wish I had played with that (expletive). But, he had a a tendency of hard-fouling, you know, tough guy (expletive)," McGrady said during his appearance on "The Young Man And The Three" podcast. McGrady was describing an altercation between himself and Martin while he was playing for the Orlando Magic. "He fouled me one time in his phase of fouling people hard. I pump-faked one time, and he jumped up, and he came down on me, right on top of my head," McGrady said. "From that point on, bro, every time I seen Kenyon Martin, I just (dropped a) 46-piece, 40-piece." The game in question, from which Martin was suspended for two games and fined $15,000 for the altercation with McGrady, happened on Jan. 5, 2002, a game in which the Magic won 109-96. McGrady drove to the basket and was fouled by Martin with 2:57 left in the game in a fashion that McGrady took exception to given that Martin struck his head with his elbow. McGrady came away from the game with a $5,000 fine of his own after retaliating against Martin for the hard foul, but the Magic emerged from the game victorious thanks to McGrady putting up 35 points, seven rebounds, and five assists. While it seems like McGrady and Martin are on much better terms than they were during this moment in their playing careers, it also appears that McGrady knew who Martin was as a player and grew to respect him for it.

Analyst Calls Eagles Legitimate Target For Pro Bowl Cornerback

Analyst Calls Eagles Legitimate Target For Pro Bowl Cornerback originally appeared on Athlon Sports. There are many reasons why the Philadelphia Eagles continue to be tied to free-agent cornerback Jaire Alexander. After winning Super Bowl LIX, the organization parted ways with two key starters in the secondary, including cornerback Darius Slay and safety C.J. Gardner-Johnson. Advertisement With Alexander now a free agent after his release from the Green Bay Packers, the Pro Bowl cornerback is seen as a fit for the Eagles maybe in part if they don't believe in young Kelee Ringo. There is an underrated reason why Alexander is a strong fit with Philly, though. Eagles defensive backs coach Christian Parker was a quality control coach with the Packers during the 2019 and 2020 seasons. Alexander was an All-Pro during his second season with Parker. Philadelphia doesn't have much money to give out for Alexander this offseason, but one analyst believes something could happen that would turn the tide on a potential deal. Advertisement ESPN's Adam Schefter joined 97.5 The Fanatic and addressed the possibility while saying Alexander could be a fit if the price is right. "Now, Jaire Alexander, if the price were right and you're doing a one-year deal – whatever the number is, a low number – they can go make that work if that's what they wanted to do," Schefter said. Things can absolutely change if Alexander - who was a $20 million plus guy under his previous deal. lowers his price. That said, Philadelphia has supported Ringo in earning the starting job this season. With larger extensions due the following offseason, Philadelphia is trying to save as much cap space as possible for next year. Advertisement And we say - with all due respect to Schefter - that leaves Alexander as an unlikely fit for the team at this point.
