Saudi Arabia: Nazaha Arrests 140 Citizens And Expats Over Charges Of Corruption
The Oversight and Anti-Corruption Authority (Nazaha) has arrested 140 Saudi citizens and expatriates over corruption charges during the month of April 2025. Some of the arrested persons were released on bail.
Officials from the authority carried out as many as 2807 inspection visits during April, and conducted investigations into charges against 385 suspects. They include employees from the Ministry of Interior, Ministry of Defense, Ministry of Justice, Ministry of Education, Ministry of Municipalities and Housing, Ministry of Environment, Water, and Agriculture, and the King Fahd Causeway Authority. The investigations led to the arrest of 140 persons for their suspected involvement in charges such as bribery and abuse of power.
The Nazaha confirmed that legal procedures are underway against the detainees, before referring them to the judiciary. The authority called on the public to report any suspicious activity related to financial or administrative corruption by calling the toll-free number 980 or via Nazaha's website dedicated to receiving reports.

'We affirm that the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia will remain at the vanguard of countries standing by Syria in its path towards reconstruction and economic recovery,' Prince Faisal said in a joint press conference with his Syrian counterpart. Saudi Arabia 'will present joint financial support alongside Qatar to public sector workers' in Syria, he added, while pointing to interest in Syria from Saudi investors. He said Saudi economic delegations would visit Damascus soon, noting that 'work is underway to discuss investment support and economic and trade cooperation' between the two countries. Syrian Foreign Minister Asaad al-Shaibani, meanwhile, expressed his country's thanks 'for the role Saudi Arabia has played, particularly on the lifting of sanctions' by the United States. Kuwait Arrests Indian ‘Housewife' Posing As Doctor, Running Underground Clinic
Kuwaiti authorities have arrested an Indian woman for practicing medicine without a licence at an unregistered clinic in the Jleeb Al Shuyoukh area, according to a statement from the Ministry of Interior. The arrest was carried out by detectives from the Farwaniya police command's Jleeb Al Shuyoukh Investigations Section as part of Kuwait's ongoing crackdown on illegal medical practices. At the time of arrest, the woman was reportedly treating a child. Although officially listed as a 'housewife,' she was found operating a clinic stocked with various medications, a blood pressure monitor, a stethoscope, and infant formula supplied by the Ministry of Health. Investigators revealed that the woman had been preparing and dispensing 'folk remedies' in capsule form without medical supervision or government approval. She admitted to having no qualifications or official licenses. Some medicines were reportedly imported, while others were sourced from local pharmacies. A security source said the woman primarily treated expatriates who were living in Kuwait without valid residency or work permits, and therefore unable to access public healthcare. Patients were charged modest fees for medical services. The Ministry of Interior confirmed the suspect has been referred to the public prosecution for further legal action.
