Addressing the 14th Convocation of IIT Hyderabad, Mr. Vaishnaw also emphasised the rapid progress of India's first bullet train project, which is expected to become operational by August or September 2027.
Looking ahead, Mr. Vaishnaw said the first Made in India semiconductor chip, on a commercial scale, will be manufactured this year. He expressed confidence that India is on track to becoming one of the top five semiconductor nations in the world in the coming years, citing its increasing focus on capital equipment and the materials required for semiconductors.
'In just 11 years, we have increased our electronics production six times. That's a CAGR double digit which any corporate would be envious of. We have increased our exports eight times, crossed $40 billion exports in electronics manufacturing, which is a phenomenal pace of growth, something which very few countries of our size have ever seen,' the Union Minister for Railways, Information & Broadcasting, Electronics & Information Technology said.
He attributed this growth to the vision of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and noted that in just about three and a half years, India could design a complete 4G telecom stack. Today, it is installed on almost 90,000 telecom towers, which is more than the network of many countries in the world.

Over 18k farmers to benefit from PM Kisan-Annadata Sukhibhava in Vizag
As many as 18,573 farmers from the district will benefit from the PM Kisan-Annadata Sukhibhava programme, the launch of which was held at Gajuwaka here in the city on Saturday (August 2). About ₹12,906 crore was released to the beneficiaries under the first phase. He lauded the State's decision to add ₹14,000 to the Centre's ₹6,000 PM Kisan funds, making it a combined annual support of ₹20,000 for farmers. Later, MLAs, along with District Collector Harendhira Prasad, DCCB Chairman Kona Tata Rao, handed over a cheque for ₹12.9 crore to farmers.

Mys-Kushalnagar highway will be ready by March 2027
Mysuru: The ambitious Mysuru-Kushalnagar greenfield access-controlled highway is expected to be completed by March 2027. As the project cost increased to Rs 4,128 crore from the original Rs 3,883 crore, it is likely to be delayed by three months. Earlier, it was scheduled to be completed before 2026. Meanwhile, Mysuru MP Yaduveer KC Wadiyar made it clear that package 1 under this scheme (Kushalnagar-Madikeri) will not be taken up due to the environmental concerns expressed by locals and activists. He also informed that the road will be ready by early 2027. PM Narendra Modi performed the bhoomi puja for this project in March 2023. However, the project is being delayed due to issues related to forest clearance, explained stakeholders. According to the details furnished by Union minister for road transport and highways Nitin Gadkari in response to a question raised by Bengaluru MP Tejasvi Surya, the minister informed that this 92km long highway is expected to be completed before the deadline. He stated that this project is divided into five packages and passes through the Mandya and Mysuru Lok Sabha constituencies. "Efforts are being made to get the forest clearance at the earliest for the project, which connects Paschima Vahini in Srirangapatna with Kushalnagar. Most of the forest land required consists of social forestry land parcels," he explained. Yaduveer, during his recent meeting with Nitin Gadkari, emphasised the need for timely intervention in overcoming delays related to forest clearance for the project. 'Pathetic and vile': Kishan Reddy slams Rahul Gandhi over remarks on Arun Jaitley, says late FM died before farm laws; demands apology
NEW DELHI: Union minister G Kishan Reddy on Saturday hit out at Congress leader Rahul Gandhi for claiming that the late Union finance minister Arun Jaitley was sent by the NDA government to "threaten" him over his opposition to the farm laws. Taking to X, Reddy said Rahul Gandhi's remarks were "pathetic and vile," accusing him of politicising the memory of deceased leaders for personal gain. 'Shri Arun Jaitley passed away in August 2019, and the farm laws were introduced only in 2020. To maliciously sully those who are no more in our midst for political point-scoring is a low blow,' he wrote. The BJP leader demanded that the Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha issue an unconditional apology to Jaitley's family. 'Not the first time that Rahul Gandhi has resorted to such nasty politics. When Manohar Parrikar was terminally ill, he politicised his visit into a statement on the Rafale defence deal,' Reddy added. Rahul Gandhi, while addressing a gathering earlier in the day, said: 'I remember when I was fighting the farm laws, Arun Jaitley was sent to me to threaten me... He told me, 'If you carry on opposing the government, we will have to act against you.' I looked at him and said, 'I don't think you have an idea who you are talking to.'' Rahul's statement has triggered sharp reactions from BJP leaders, who accused him of distorting facts and disrespecting the legacy of Arun Jaitley.
