During Monday's play, temperatures in Mason, Ohio - where the tournament takes places, soared as high as 32C.
Rinderknech and Auger-Aliassime had played a tight first set, with the Canadian pinching it in a tiebreak.
With Auger-Aliassime about to serve at 2-2 in the second set, Rinderknech fell down.
The Frenchman had been trudging towards the back of the court.

After grabbing a towel from a ballboy, Rinderknech wiped his face before sinking to the ground.
As the 30-year-old lay on his back, breathing deeply, both Auger-Aliassime and the umpire jogged over to check whether he was okay.
After being checked on by supervisor Nacho Forcadell and a member of tournament staff, Rinderknech was able to rise to his knees.

Among the tributes paid to him since Monday's awful news broke, the Mark Kirk Running Group hailed him for being a "valuable member" of their training group. Their Facebook post read: "We have just heard today the very sad news of the death of Oisin Cassidy who was a valued member of the training group and one of the founder members of Candour Track Club. "'Cass' a master of fantasy football league will missed by all his teammates and running friends. Sincerest condolences to all his family circle." Furthermore, Rock Runners - who are a community-based run club in Derrylin - added a heartfelt tribute of their own. They reflected: "We were deeply saddened to hear of the passing of our dear friend, Oisin Cassidy this morning. "Oisin was an exceptionally talented runner, both locally and nationally, representing Athletics NI in international competitions. He was also a proud multiple time winner of our very own 5K race. "Throughout his illness, Oisin showed remarkable strength, dignity, and kindness. "Oisin proudly represented our club at under age levels and was part of our Under 12 Division 1 league winning team in 2015. "Oisin a talented, humble and gifted athlete used his athletic prowess to occupy the midfield and wing half back positions in our teams. "Oisin would cover every blade of grass when he was on field, with surging runs his trademark. "Oisin had made a return to play with our senior team, unfortunately his diagnosis prevented him from playing with his friends. "He did however fulfil a vital role for our senior team last year by being our 'Stats man' a role he fulfilled with due diligence. "Our deepest condolences go out to Oisin's mother Veronica, the whole Cassidy family and Oisin's friends and teammates. "As a mark of respect all club activities will be postponed until after Oisin is laid to rest."

Unsettling scenes as tennis star falls ill during match as play halted
Francisco Comesana's Cincinnati Open match against Reilly Opelka was abruptly paused when the Argentine fell ill mid-game. Preparing to serve during the second set, Comesana decided against hitting the ball and required immediate medical attention. Opelka had secured a 7-6 victory in the first set before Comesana took the reins of the second set, leading 4-3 (15-0). However, concern arose when the 24 year old was preparing to serve. Standing on the baseline, Comesana seemed to contemplate striking the ball but chose not to, halting play. He then slowly made his way towards his courtside bench, catching the umpire's eye. Comesana appeared extremely unwell, and a ballgirl quickly came to his assistance with a sick bag, while other medical staff rushed onto the court. The world No. 71 was then escorted off the court for further examination, with camera footage showing him having his blood pressure monitored and ice applied to his neck to counteract the sweltering Ohio heat, reports the Express. Francisco Comesana fell ill (Image: X) Following an 11-minute medical timeout, Comesana returned to the court and play resumed. Despite the health scare, he managed to regain his momentum and went on to equalise the match by winning the second set 6-4. However, the game's resumption wasn't without its fair share of drama. After the second set wrapped up, Comesana took a loo break and changed his kit, much to Opelka's annoyance who felt the increasing interruptions were putting him off his game. The American player vented to the umpire: "How many breaks will this guy get? Last time I had a break that long I got fined £150k."
