Why Tesla could be banned from selling cars in this US state
A DMV lawyer told an Oakland court that Tesla's marketing and feature names, such as 'Autopilot' and 'Full Self-Driving', imply autonomy which the vehicles do not possess.
The DMV has received complaints from Tesla owners regarding these features, with a 2023 state law prohibiting deceptive marketing of semi-autonomous driving systems.
Separately, a Florida court heard testimony about a 2019 fatal accident where a Tesla driver claimed the Autopilot feature failed, one of many incidents recorded by the US National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
Despite regulatory challenges, Elon Musk recently discussed plans for a significant rollout of self-driving Robotaxis, though market analysts express scepticism about widespread regulatory approvals.

The billionaire's command allegedly led to a communications blackout while Ukrainian forces attempted to retake the port city of Kherson in the south of the country in September 2022. The communication blackout, where staff at the American tech firm deactivated at least 100 Starlink terminals after being instructed to, reportedly caused the attack to fail, according to Reuters, which spoke with three people who were familiar with the demand. According to reports, the blackout caused Ukrainian soldiers to panic as drones surveilling Russian forces went dark, and long-range artillery units, reliant on Starlink to aim at their targets, struggled to hit them. One of the three people who were familiar with the instruction claimed it enabled Musk to take 'the outcome of a war into his own hands'. The Tesla-owner reportedly grew concerned that Ukrainian forces' advancements could provoke nuclear retaliation from Vladimir Putin. A spokesperson for SpaceX, the aerospace company that owns Starlink, told Reuters the reporting of the incident is 'inaccurate'. In March, Musk posted on his social media platform, X/Twitter: 'To be extremely clear, no matter how much I disagree with the Ukraine policy, Starlink will never turn off its terminals.' Starlink, which went live in 2019, is a satellite company that beams data across its network and is the world's largest satellite operator. It provides customers with internet access in remote and unreliable locations and has a network of around 8000 satellites in orbit. It has been a key tool in Ukraine's defence, as Musk has provided the country with more than 50,000 Starlink terminals during the war. The network has allowed Ukrainians to speak to relatives across the world, and President Zelensky uses the network to transmit broadcasts to the nation. It is also used by Ukrainian forces on the battlefield to communicate and is used to guide drones and long-range artillery units.

According to the documents released by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), the spherical pins that hold the gas struts for the iconic scissor doors may not have been properly installed. This defect could cause the pins to loosen, allowing the doors to close unexpectedly or resist opening – both not cool, especially when you're trapped inside the car. According to the automaker, a deviation in the assembly process caused the problem. Unfortunately, there aren't any signs that the Revuelto's screws are already loose, so owners should probably consider their hypercars affected just to be safe. Vehicles built after June 26, 2025, are not affected, since production procedures were updated to ensure proper torque application during assembly. Lamborghini has not reported any injuries or incidents related to this defect. Owners will be instructed to visit dealerships, where technicians will inspect and retighten the pins – of course, free of charge. Three Recalls and Counting Per the NHTSA records, there were two previous recalls for the Revuelto. The first one was issued in October 2024, when Lamborghini recalled 455 units due to a defective connecting rod in the passenger-side windshield wiper system. The rod could bend or detach from the motor, causing the wiper to malfunction and leading to impaired visibility during poor weather. According to records, there were improperly tightened screws on the oil circuit connection flange from the radiator to the oil tank.
