Netflix fans are binging a new true crime documentary that's 'truly horrifying'
EccyReviews has scoped out the 'best' chilling true crime documentary on the platform that aims to both educate and give you the shivers, reports The Mirror.
EccyReviews revealed on TikTok: "Netflix have just dropped a brand new true crime documentary and one of the most disturbing murder cases in British history. You need to check it out tonight."
Just released this month, the documentary, titled Fred and Rose West: A British Horror Story, delves into the nightmarish deeds of the Wests from their unassuming home in Gloucester during the '80s and '90s.
The spine-chilling synopsis reads: "In 1994 in Gloucester, England, police visited 25 Cromwell Street, acting on a tip from social services regarding a horrifying rumour they were told by the children of the couple who lived there, Fred and Rose West.
"If they misbehaved, the children said, they'd end up under the patio like their sister, Heather, who had not been seen since 1986.
"The police's horrific discoveries didn't end with Heather. They unearthed the remains of nine bodies buried throughout the property's garden and cellar.
"Thus began the unravelling of one of the most brutal series of murders to shake modern Britain.
"Fred and Rose West: A British Horror Story tells how a couple who were, to those who observed them, in a loving, committed relationship could be capable of such gruesome crimes."
The documentary has been stirring up quite the reaction with its harrowing portrayal of a seemingly loving couple's descent into committing some of the most gruesome crimes known to Britain.
The three-part series, which utilises over 50 hours of previously unseen and unheard police interview tapes from 107 interrogations, promises to cast new light on the murders of at least 12 women by Fred and Rose West.
Delving into the twisted personalities and lifestyle of Fred and Rose West, the docuseries also explores their current whereabouts and activities.
TikTok users have been eagerly anticipating the release, with one commenting: "Been waiting for this! ! ! Fred and Rose West were crazy! Horrifying story definitely watching it tonight."
Another shared their chilling experience after binge-watching: "Just seen all three episodes just now, it's chilling and frightening."
Meanwhile, a third remarked on the difficulty of digesting the content: "I've watched it and read the book years ago, hard to get through."
Another recalled the horror of the events as they unfolded: "Remember all this happening it was awful what they both did."
However, not all reviews are glowing; an IMDb critique points out the series' shortcomings: "While the series may serve as an introduction for those unfamiliar with the case, it misses the opportunity to provide a deeper, more insightful examination of the Wests' crimes and their lasting impact."
The reviewer lamented the focus on sensationalism, suggesting that a chance was missed to delve into the complexities and offer a more profound narrative: "By focusing primarily on the sensational aspects, the documentary overlooks the complexities and nuances that could have offered a more meaningful narrative.
"In conclusion, Fred and Rose West: A British Horror Story presents a chilling tale but ultimately lacks the depth and detail necessary to fully comprehend the horror and implications of the Wests' actions."

Met Police issues warning to protesters ahead of Kneecap member's court appearance in London
THE METROPOLITAN POLICE has issued a warning to anyone planning on protesting outside Westminster Magistrates' Court tomorrow in support of Kneecap's Liam Óg Ó hAnnaidh. The 27-year-old rapper, whose stage name is Mo Chara, appeared in the court in June charged with displaying a flag in support of Hezbollah, a proscribed organisation in Britain, during a gig in the O2 Forum, Kentish Town last November. Ó hAnnaidh was released on unconditional bail until his next hearing , which will take place tomorrow, when legal argument will be dealt with. Ó hAnnaidh and his fellow bandmates Naoise Ó Cairealláin and J J Ó Dochartaigh left the court in June to loud cheers and chants of 'Free Palestine' from hundreds of their supporters who remained outside during the hearing. Before they emerged, supporters gave speeches about Palestine and Ireland. Advertisement Throughout the morning, supporters of the group held placards saying 'Free Mo Chara' and 'Defend Kneecap' along with tricolours, Palestinian flags and Kneecap flags, with musicians also performing. The UK's Stop The War Coalition was among those organising the protest, calling on people to 'picket' the court building. In a statement this evening, the Met Police said it has imposed 'Public Order Act conditions to prevent serious disruption being caused by a protest outside Westminster Magistrates' Court tomorrow'. These conditions can be imposed when police deem it necessary to prevent public disorder such as damage to property, disruption to the community or excessive noise. The Met has set out an area in which protests in support of Ó hAnnaidh and 'aligned causes must remain'. In response to this on social media, Kneecap said that it 'massively appreciates the support of what we know are the majority of the public, who can see this farce for what it is'. 'It is a distraction from war crimes that the British state support,' added the statement. Celebs Go Dating star reveals exactly what the show did and didn't pay for after her date with Christine McGuinness
A WOMAN who went on a date with Christine McGuinness on Celebs Go Dating has lifted the lid on show secrets. Stunning Leanne Grant was seen bonding with the mum-of-three during the first mixer of the series before being whisked off to Ibiza to get to know her better. 4 Christine McGuinness appeared on Celebs Go Dating to find love Credit: Instagram 4 A woman she dated has opened up about the show 4 The pair hit it off straight away She has now revealed she wasn't paid to do the show and shed light on exactly what she had to fork out for on the lavish trip, which ended with Chrstine quitting the show altogether. In a new TikTok video, she explained: 'I wasn't paid for the amount of episodes I was on the show. Expenses were paid for, so my flight to Ibiza was paid for, the mixer was also paid for, the long as you have your receipts, that was all covered. 'They covered lunch and dinner. If we was off-site from the hotel everything was catered for. It was amazing. 'Chef was amazing, the staff were amazing, really, really lovely people. And we had breakfast, lunch and dinner, just like a buffet really. 'So it was like going to Ibiza on an all-inclusive holiday that I didn't have to pay for. Obviously, as a single mum of three, I was gassed.' She continued: 'I did spend a lot of my own money though, not going to lie to you, like in-duty free, a bit of alcohol, Prosecco, a couple of bottles, just to have fun, especially in the night time as well.' Despite getting on well with Christine, her time on the show came to an abrupt end when the Loose Women star - who was married to comedian Paddy McGuinness, 51, until their split in 2022 - made the shock decision to leave during the latest episode. Speaking to the show's agents, she said: "Well, I've been thinking quite a lot whilst we've been in Ibiza and I think I need to date in more of a natural environment. "I think I just would love to meet somebody and date more privately. It's where I'm kind of feeling myself going back, when I want to go freely forward. "Right. And I've made the decision to leave the agency." 4 Christine broke down in tears on tonight's episode Emotional Christine McGuinness opens up about Paddy's 'mistakes' in split saying 'the trust was broken'
