Peak devs really did not expect to sell 2 million copies in 9 days, say they're now "looking into possible updates" for their hit that started as a "stupid jam game"
Indie co-op climbing game Peak has reached a new sales milestone of two million copies, and developers Landfall and Aggro Crab are now "looking into possible updates" after an "amazing launch".
"Peak managed to exceed our expectations of player count and hype by like.. a lot," Landfall Games and Aggro Crab (collectively Landcrab) say in a news announcement on Steam which includes the latest numbers. The game has, at time of writing, climbed up to become the third top seller on Steam globally.
Aggro Crab was already stunned at the success Peak has had a few days ago, when it announced its "stupid jam game" had sold one million copies in six days, and outsold its brilliant take on the Soulslike genre, Another Crab's Treasure. It's now doubled that number in half the amount of time, living up to its Very Positive rating on Steam.
To thank players for the positive reception, Landcrab confirms the developers are now "looking into possible updates" for the game. "It's very early stages," it adds on Steam, stating that it won't be sharing "exact details" on what to expect yet. "We're still prioritizing bug fixes and stability first," the developers confirm.
Some things which are definitely in the works for Peak are localization and merch – Landcrab calls the latter "another thing we didn't really expect to do", but says it is "looking at some pretty great things".
As for any major content, Landcrab says the teams don't know how many updates there'll be or when they'll be ready "since we're two studios who have other projects to work on," and games you know, take time to make.
Aggro Crab might have been a bit tongue-in-cheek when it called Peak a "stupid jam game", but the devs revealed it really was developed over a month-long game jam in South Korea in an interview with PC Gamer.

Warner Bros. Discovery is soon to be... Warner Bros. and Discovery Global
Warner Bros. Discovery has begun to prepare for its impending divorce. As announced back in June, each half of the soon-to-be-historic conglomerate has already claimed a CEO and division of the company. Now, those two halves, which will operate as separate, publicly traded entities, have brand new names to take with them into single life. The new company spun out of WBD's current 'Streaming & Studios' division will henceforth be known as 'Warner Bros.,' Variety reports. This is where Warner Bros. Television, Warner Bros. Motion Picture Group, DC Studios, HBO, HBO Max, Warner Bros. Gaming Studios, and all of their film and TV libraries will live when the separation is complete, which is expected to occur around mid-2026. The streaming and studios company gets to keep the Warner Bros. name to honor 'the legacy of more than a century of industry-defining storytelling,' the company said in a statement. The current 'Global Networks' division will be called 'Discovery Global.' That company will cover WBD's entertainment, sports and news TV brands, including CNN, Discovery, and TNT Sports. It will also house digital platforms like Discovery+ and Bleacher Report, as well as a number of free-to-air channels across Europe. Its name was chosen 'in recognition of the affinity and value this name has around the world in entertainment, news and sports,' the company said. As previously announced, current WBD CEO David Zaslav will head up the new Warner Bros., while current CFO Gunnar Wiedenfels will take over Discovery Global. Zaslav will have to make due with a couple million less than he's making now, which makes sense considering the company's major debt issue is what got it into this mess in the first place. Regardless of any responsibility he may have had for those money troubles as CFO, Wiedenfels will receive an increased compensation package to 'reflect his expanded responsibilities' as CEO of Discovery Global. The pay cut doesn't seem to have diminished Zaslav's opinion of the company. (Well, at least not publicly.) 'We will proudly continue the more than century-long legacy of Warner Bros. through our commitment to bringing culture-defining stories, characters and entertainment to audiences around the world,' he said in a statement. 'Over the past several years, we have made important strides across the business, launching and investing in a profitable, global streaming service and reinvigorating our studios to return them again to an industry leading position. With our unmatched portfolio of storytelling IP coupled with our incredible creative partners, and now an executive team of proven, bold and committed creative and corporate leaders, we are in a strong position to launch and continue to meaningfully grow a company worthy of our storied past.' Wednesday Addams (Jenna Ortega) kidnapped our hearts and left us wanting more in just eight episodes. Just a few days after the series' release, Netflix's official X account posted, "Wednesday now holds the record for most hours viewed in a week for an English-language series on Netflix, with 341.2 MILLION HOURS!" The streaming giant also revealed that the supernatural mystery series was "#1 in 83 countries, tying the record set by Stranger Things 4." By June 2023, the show became Netflix's most-watched English-language series ever, overtaking Stranger Things 4 for the top position with 251.2 million views in its first 91 days. The show was unquestionably a smashing success. Could Bianca be the new villain in Wednesday Season 2? Bianca is introduced in Season 1 as the queen bee of Nevermore, Xavier's ex-girlfriend and Wednesday's adversary. However, as the season progresses, Bianca's connection with Wednesday evolves while we also get glimpses of Bianca's tumultuous past. Her mother, Gabrielle, is also a siren who belongs to a "church" called Morning Song. Her mother sees Morning Song as a 'personal development movement,' but Bianca clearly does not see the cult that way. Gabrielle's visit to see her daughter at school reveals that Bianca fled Morning Song and changed her name. She also implies that Bianca used her powers unfairly to get into the academy. She also tells her daughter that she married the Morning Song's leader, Gideon, much to Bianca's chagrin. Bianca's mother insists that she leave the school and return to Morning Song, explaining that her siren song abilities are drying up. Because of that, the organization's recruitment numbers are low, and people are starting to ask questions. Gabrielle's ultimatum: Bianca must return to use her siren song or have her secret exposed about gaining admission to Nevermore Academy. Meanwhile, Sunday told Deadline it would be out of character for Bianca to willingly go, stating "Bianca doesn't seem like someone who stands in the background at all. Is Xavier going to be Wednesday's new love interest? If you've seen the first season, it's safe to say that Wednesday clearly has a complicated relationship with Xavier. He has expressed many times throughout the show that he likes Wednesday, but the titular character picks Tyler. After suspecting that Xavier is the Hyde, Wednesday gets him arrested by Sheriff Galpin, Tyler's dad, which sours the already complex relationship.
