Peak devs really did not expect to sell 2 million copies in 9 days, say they're now "looking into possible updates" for their hit that started as a "stupid jam game"
Indie co-op climbing game Peak has reached a new sales milestone of two million copies, and developers Landfall and Aggro Crab are now "looking into possible updates" after an "amazing launch".
"Peak managed to exceed our expectations of player count and hype by like.. a lot," Landfall Games and Aggro Crab (collectively Landcrab) say in a news announcement on Steam which includes the latest numbers. The game has, at time of writing, climbed up to become the third top seller on Steam globally.
Aggro Crab was already stunned at the success Peak has had a few days ago, when it announced its "stupid jam game" had sold one million copies in six days, and outsold its brilliant take on the Soulslike genre, Another Crab's Treasure. It's now doubled that number in half the amount of time, living up to its Very Positive rating on Steam.
To thank players for the positive reception, Landcrab confirms the developers are now "looking into possible updates" for the game. "It's very early stages," it adds on Steam, stating that it won't be sharing "exact details" on what to expect yet. "We're still prioritizing bug fixes and stability first," the developers confirm.
Some things which are definitely in the works for Peak are localization and merch – Landcrab calls the latter "another thing we didn't really expect to do", but says it is "looking at some pretty great things".
As for any major content, Landcrab says the teams don't know how many updates there'll be or when they'll be ready "since we're two studios who have other projects to work on," and games you know, take time to make.
Aggro Crab might have been a bit tongue-in-cheek when it called Peak a "stupid jam game", but the devs revealed it really was developed over a month-long game jam in South Korea in an interview with PC Gamer.

Warner Bros. Discovery is soon to be... Warner Bros. and Discovery Global
Warner Bros. Discovery has begun to prepare for its impending divorce. As announced back in June, each half of the soon-to-be-historic conglomerate has already claimed a CEO and division of the company. Now, those two halves, which will operate as separate, publicly traded entities, have brand new names to take with them into single life. The new company spun out of WBD's current 'Streaming & Studios' division will henceforth be known as 'Warner Bros.,' Variety reports. This is where Warner Bros. Television, Warner Bros. Motion Picture Group, DC Studios, HBO, HBO Max, Warner Bros. Gaming Studios, and all of their film and TV libraries will live when the separation is complete, which is expected to occur around mid-2026. The streaming and studios company gets to keep the Warner Bros. name to honor 'the legacy of more than a century of industry-defining storytelling,' the company said in a statement. The current 'Global Networks' division will be called 'Discovery Global.' That company will cover WBD's entertainment, sports and news TV brands, including CNN, Discovery, and TNT Sports. It will also house digital platforms like Discovery+ and Bleacher Report, as well as a number of free-to-air channels across Europe. Its name was chosen 'in recognition of the affinity and value this name has around the world in entertainment, news and sports,' the company said. As previously announced, current WBD CEO David Zaslav will head up the new Warner Bros., while current CFO Gunnar Wiedenfels will take over Discovery Global. Zaslav will have to make due with a couple million less than he's making now, which makes sense considering the company's major debt issue is what got it into this mess in the first place. Regardless of any responsibility he may have had for those money troubles as CFO, Wiedenfels will receive an increased compensation package to 'reflect his expanded responsibilities' as CEO of Discovery Global. The pay cut doesn't seem to have diminished Zaslav's opinion of the company. (Well, at least not publicly.) 'We will proudly continue the more than century-long legacy of Warner Bros. through our commitment to bringing culture-defining stories, characters and entertainment to audiences around the world,' he said in a statement. 'Over the past several years, we have made important strides across the business, launching and investing in a profitable, global streaming service and reinvigorating our studios to return them again to an industry leading position. With our unmatched portfolio of storytelling IP coupled with our incredible creative partners, and now an executive team of proven, bold and committed creative and corporate leaders, we are in a strong position to launch and continue to meaningfully grow a company worthy of our storied past.' Hopefully the company's future will be a little less chaotic. More from A.V. 'Wednesday' Returns for Season 2 on Netflix in 2 Parts
'Wednesday' Returns for Season 2 on Netflix in 2 Parts originally appeared on Parade. When Netflix's Wednesday premiered in late 2022, it took the streaming world by storm. Wednesday Addams (Jenna Ortega) kidnapped our hearts and left us wanting more in just eight episodes. Just a few days after the series' release, Netflix's official X account posted, "Wednesday now holds the record for most hours viewed in a week for an English-language series on Netflix, with 341.2 MILLION HOURS!" The streaming giant also revealed that the supernatural mystery series was "#1 in 83 countries, tying the record set by Stranger Things 4." By June 2023, the show became Netflix's most-watched English-language series ever, overtaking Stranger Things 4 for the top position with 251.2 million views in its first 91 days. The show was unquestionably a smashing success. Bloomberg reported in December 2023 that there are already talks of a spinoff featuring the Uncle Fester character played by Fred Armisen. 🎬 SIGN UP for Parade's Daily newsletter to get the latest pop culture news & celebrity interviews delivered right to your inbox 🎬 Ortega presented at the Primetime Emmy Awards in January 2024 and was nominated for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Comedy Series. Wednesday racked up four Creative Arts Emmys for costumes, music, makeup and production design. Here is everything you need to know about the mysterious Netflix series, including burning fan questions regarding Wednesday Season 2, which will release in two parts in 2025. What is the release date for Wednesday Season 2? Wednesday Season 2 will release in two batches. The first four episodes will release on Aug. 6, 2025. Then, less than a month later, on Sep. 3, the last four episodes of Season 2 will become available. What happened in Wednesday Season 1? Wednesday Addams "attempts to master her emerging psychic ability, thwart a monstrous killing spree that has terrorized the local town, and solve the supernatural mystery that embroiled her parents 25 years ago—all while navigating her new and very tangled relationships of the strange and diverse student body." The first season is full of twists and turns as Wednesday attends Nevermore Academy and seeks to discover the mysterious creature slaughtering the people of Jericho while coming to grips with the antagonistic relationship between "outcasts'' and "normies." The concluding episode, "Murder of Woes," answers questions that persisted throughout the first season. Ms. Marilyn Thornhill (Christina Ricci), is revealed to be Laurel Gates, the master of the Hyde—a terrifying class of monsters who appear as humans. This episode also reveals that Tyler Galpin (Hunter Doohan) is the Hyde that has been terrorizing the town, led by Gates/Thornhill's grooming. Meanwhile, Gates/Thornhill murders Principal Weems, played by Game of Thrones alum Gwendoline Christie. Wednesday's roomie werewolf Enid Sinclair (Emma Myers) finally wolfs out and has an epic fight with Tyler in his Hyde form, ultimately beating him. With the help of siren Bianca Barclay (Joy Sunday), Wednesday destroys the zombified Joseph Crackstone (William Houston), Laurel Gates' ancestor and the town's founder who despises the outcasts. Ultimately, Wednesday's likable, nerdy pal Eugene Ottinger (Moose Mostafa) uses his psychic powers to defeat Gates with a swarm of bees. Season 1 ends with two cliffhangers: Tyler transforms into Hyde form while imprisoned on a truck, and Wednesday receives a note revealing she has a stalker. Related: What will Wednesday Season 2 be about? From the Emmys red carpet in January 2024, Ortega told The Hollywood Reporter that there are big things to come: "We're definitely leaning into a little more horror. Everything is bigger. It's a lot more action-packed." Then, in an exclusive with Vanity Fair released in February, Ortega revealed a few more clues as she had been reading scripts at the time of the interview. "But even reading scripts has been exciting, seeing all the new characters that are coming in. We're definitely expanding on the supernatural world," she said. Ortega also expanded on previous statements that each episode of Season 2 feels like a movie. "In the first season, we had episodes that really stood out visually, like the dance episode was a really big one for people, and that setting was very particular and it felt like Prom Night, a little bit, or Carrie. Every episode [of Season 2] that I've read so far is like that," she said. "It just stands out on its own as a very memorable scene or bit or setting, which I think is what I'm most excited for, because to pull that off for eight episodes is, I think, really incredible and really lucky." In a June 2023 video appearance for the Netflix Tudum: A Global Fan Event in Brazil, cast members Sunday, Myers, and Doohan contemplated fan theories about what's coming next. Something that teaser confirms: A new Addams family member will be introduced! Co-showrunner Miles Millar shared in an earlier Variety interview that they 'have a pretty clear runway of what we want to do in future seasons.' 'The series is really about a girl who sees the world in black and white, and learning there are shades of gray,' co-showrunner Al Gough tells TVLine. 'I think like any relationship or any friendship, it can get complicated by other factors. It's never going to be smooth sailing. And it's really her learning to navigate the ups and downs of friendship.' For example, with signs that Tyler may be freed from custody, fans could see more of Tyler and Wednesday, though not with the same romantic dynamics they once had. Tyler could have more free will now that Ms. Thornhill (aka Laurel Gates) has been eliminated. This could lead to him learning how to control his violent desires, hopefully becoming an aid to Wednesday again. Wishful thinking, but we can expect Wednesday and Thing to travel to hell and back to find out the identity of her stalker. Ortega became involved in the writing for her character in the first season to the point of being "almost unprofessional," she told The Hollywood Reporter in early 2023. She will be a producer for Season 2. Related: Who is in the Wednesday Season 2 cast? Jenna Ortega as Wednesday Catherine Zeta-Jones as Morticia Luis Guzmán as Gomez Isaac Ordonez as brother Pugsley Victor Dorobantu as Thing Luyanda Unati Lewis-Nyawo as Deputy Ritchie Santiago Steve Buscemi as Barry Dort Joanna Lumley as Grandmama Billie Piper as Capri Thandiwe Newton as Dr. Fairburn Fred Armisen as Uncle Fester Emma Myers as Enid Joy Sunday as Bianca Hunter Doohan as Tyler Moosa Mostafa as Eugene Georgie Farmer as Ajax The following actors will guest star in as yet undisclosed roles: Frances O'Connor Evie Templeton Owen Painter Noah Taylor Christopher Lloyd Haley Joel Osment Heather Matarazzo Who's not returning for Wednesday Season 2? Unfortunately, fans may not see Gwendoline Christie (Principal Weems) and Wednesday's therapist played by Riki Lindhome (Dr. Valerie Kinbott). Both characters were killed in Season 1 ... or were they? "I feel like Larissa Weems would never be dominated by something as commonplace as death," Christie told TV Guide last year. Furthermore, a cast announcement from Netflix revealed that three Season 1 series regulars will not be returning in that capacity next season: Percy Hynes White, Jamie McShane and Naomi J Ogawa. McShane is expected to reprise his role as Sheriff Donovan Galpin as a guest star, presumably to wrap his character's storyline. Related: Who does Christina Ricci play in Wednesday Season 2? Christina Ricci's return also is uncertain. While her character is beaten, that doesn't mean she won't pursue retaliation. Also, fans don't actually see her character die. In March 2023, Ricci told Entertainment Tonight that she didn't think she was allowed to say anything about a return, then added, "On my end, the door is open. She was so fun to play! It's always so fun to play a villain." Fans will recall that Ricci played Wednesday Addams in the 1991 film The Addams Family and its 1993 sequel, Addams Family Values. Who will be Nevermore's new principal? After the perceived death of Principal Weems, many fans are wondering who will take charge of leading Nevermore Academy. The identity of the new principal of Nevermore has yet to be announced, although it's expected that Steve Buscemi's character will be the new head of the school. Could Bianca be the new villain in Wednesday Season 2? Bianca is introduced in Season 1 as the queen bee of Nevermore, Xavier's ex-girlfriend and Wednesday's adversary. However, as the season progresses, Bianca's connection with Wednesday evolves while we also get glimpses of Bianca's tumultuous past. Her mother, Gabrielle, is also a siren who belongs to a "church" called Morning Song. Her mother sees Morning Song as a 'personal development movement,' but Bianca clearly does not see the cult that way. Gabrielle's visit to see her daughter at school reveals that Bianca fled Morning Song and changed her name. She also implies that Bianca used her powers unfairly to get into the academy. She also tells her daughter that she married the Morning Song's leader, Gideon, much to Bianca's chagrin. Bianca's mother insists that she leave the school and return to Morning Song, explaining that her siren song abilities are drying up. Because of that, the organization's recruitment numbers are low, and people are starting to ask questions. Gabrielle's ultimatum: Bianca must return to use her siren song or have her secret exposed about gaining admission to Nevermore Academy. That context creates at least the potential for Bianca and Morning Song to emerge as the villains in Season 2. Related: Will Bianca leave Nevermore to return to the Morning Song cult? Meanwhile, Sunday told Deadline it would be out of character for Bianca to willingly go, stating "Bianca doesn't seem like someone who stands in the background at all. I think, even if she was forced to leave Nevermore, I don't think she would really leave. I think she has a lot more strength and fortitude in her.' Is Xavier going to be Wednesday's new love interest? If you've seen the first season, it's safe to say that Wednesday clearly has a complicated relationship with Xavier. He has expressed many times throughout the show that he likes Wednesday, but the titular character picks Tyler. After suspecting that Xavier is the Hyde, Wednesday gets him arrested by Sheriff Galpin, Tyler's dad, which sours the already complex relationship. However, Wednesday redeems herself after wrongfully accusing Xavier by taking an arrow to her shoulder for him. Fans last see him gifting Wednesday a cellphone, an item she's never owned before. In an MTV News video, Myers asks Ortega about what's next for the love triangle in Season 2, to which Ortega replies, "Now that Tyler's off the table, I feel like she's off of boys for a while. I feel like her and Xavier are just getting to a safe place. I think there's an opportunity there for a really sweet platonic relationship." Will Xavier's dad appear in Wednesday Season 2? Xavier's famous dad, Vincent Thorpe, is discussed throughout Season 1 but never appears, even standing his son up on parents' weekend. It'll be a missed opportunity not to introduce the mysterious Vincent Thorpe in Season 2. It will help fans understand Xavier's brooding behavior and the context behind his poor relationship with his father. Related: Who is Wednesday's stalker? Everyone is a suspect. For Jenna Ortega, not even Enid is ruled out. In a video from TV Guide, Jenna says, "Maybe Enid. Maybe Enid is just in love with Wednesday." Who is directing the Netflix Wednesday TV series? Tim Burton, described by Netflix as a "visionary director and lifelong Addams Family fan," made his TV directorial debut with the new Wednesday series. Burton confirmed in early 2024 that he will be involved with Season 2, and in September 2024, we learned that he will be directing four episodes of Season 2, the same number as Season 1. Ortega also said early in 2024 that each episode of Season 2 will feel more like interconnected movies. The combination of statements leaves open the idea that others could take their turn at directing. We'll keep our eyes on that one, for sure. Who composed the music for Wednesday? It is unknown whether the second season will be composed by Danny Elfman, a longtime Burton colleague. Wednesday's first season featured music by Elfman, who has previously composed music for films such as Edward Scissorhands, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory and Alice in Wonderland. Is there an official trailer for Wednesday Season 2? Yes! Netflix released the official trailer for Wednesday Season 2 on July 9, 2025. In it, we get a hint as to some of the larger mysteries of the season, including Wednesday's vision of Enid's death, which is supposedly her fault. What are other Jenna Ortega movies and shows? Most recently, Ortega starred as Astrid, the daughter of Lydia Deetz, in the much anticipated Beetlejuice sequel, Beetlejuice Beetlejuice. It was released in September 2024, more than three decades after the original. Based on a story by Seth Grahame-Smith, Tim Burtondirected the film with the screenplay written by Wednesday creators Alfred Gough and Miles Millar. Prior to Wednesday, Ortega gained attention with her performance in the latest installment of Scream and in Season 2 of Netflix's You. The 20-year-old is also recognized for her roles in Jane the Virgin as a young Jane and in the Disney Channel series Stuck in the Middle. Is Netflix Wednesday a cartoon? No, Netflix's Wednesday is not a cartoon. However, Wednesday Addams is part of The Addams Family, a TV series and movie franchise that drew its aesthetic from the work of American cartoonist Charles Addams.
