Under NQAS, more than 130 health institutions in Bastar get certification

Raipur: Over 130 health institutions across Chhattisgarh's Bastar division have been certified under the National Quality Assurance Standards (NQAS) between Jan 2024 and June 2025. The certified facilities include one district hospital, 16 primary health centres (PHCs), and 113 sub-health centres (SHCs), with 14 institutions located in the sensitive districts of Kanker, Bijapur, Sukma, and Dantewada, getting certified. State has ramped up enrolment under 'Niyad Nellanar' scheme, accelerating the issuance of Ayushman cards to ensure health access for economically weaker sections. In the past year alone, over 36,000 Ayushman cards have been created, covering 52.6% of eligible population, an official statement from govt stated. More than Rs 8.22 crore in health assistance has been extended to 6,816 beneficiaries across the division, it said. Speaking on the progress, CM Vishnu Deo Sai said, "This transformation wouldn't be possible without the active involvement of mitanins, health workers, and the health department staff. Bastar has always been a priority for our govt. We are committed to improving it further." To strengthen health delivery, the govt has made over 450 staff appointments in the division over the past 18 months including 33 medical specialists, 117 medical officers, and a dental surgeon, along with 75 state-level and 307 district-level recruits. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like For all your EV needs ScottishPower Learn More Undo An additional 291 vacancies are in the process of being filled. Health minister Shyam Bihari Jaiswal, who is undertaking a three-day tour of Bastar from Aug 5 to 7, reiterated the state's goal of ensuring equal access to quality healthcare across all regions. During his visit, Jaiswal will review major hospitals, hold meetings with autonomous health committees, inspect progress on the malaria-free Bastar campaign, and assess services in remote villages of Bijapur and Sukma. Highlighting the govt's resolve, Minister Jaiswal noted, "Even in areas previously considered unreachable due to insurgency, our teams are delivering services door to door. Under the NQAS program, Bastar's health institutions are becoming national benchmarks." The progress in Bastar, once symbolic of underdevelopment—now serves as a model of focused governance and inclusive growth, demonstrating how dedicated leadership can bridge even the toughest healthcare gaps.

Ayushman Bharat: Haryana initiates hospital payments

Chandigarh: The state health agency, Haryana, on Tuesday urged all the stakeholders to mellow down their call of withdrawal of services under the Ayushman scheme as a protest. In an official communication to stakeholders, the health agency stated that the budget was received from the state govt on August 4, and accordingly, payment to empanelled hospitals was initiated on a first-in-first-out basis. The development reflects the state govt's commitment to ensuring timely disbursement of funds and uninterrupted delivery of healthcare services under the Ayushman Bharat scheme , read the communication. The state health agency (SHA), Haryana, has already processed and paid claims submitted by the empanelled hospitals up to the first week of May 2025. A total of Rs 2,900 crore was disbursed to hospitals since the inception of the scheme. During the financial year 2025-26, up to July 16, an amount of Rs 240.63 crore was received from the state and central govts and fully utilised for the settlement of eligible claims, stated the SHA. Claims submitted by empanelled hospitals are processed by a team of 50 doctors through the NHA's online platform. The portal ensures a transparent and impartial claim allocation process by randomly assigning cases to processors. All deductions are made strictly as per the NHA guidelines and only when adequate clinical justification or documentation is lacking. Before any rejection or deduction, hospitals are given an opportunity to upload the required supporting documents such as vital charts, clinical images, OT notes, and test reports. If a hospital disagrees with a deduction, it may file an appeal through the portal. These appeals are reviewed by a designated medical audit committee, the SHA mentioned. The state health agency has also taken cognisance of the grievances raised by hospitals regarding payment delays, claim rejections, and non-processing of claims. To date, over 400 grievances from empanelled hospitals have been formally registered and resolved through the Central Grievance Redressal Management System (CGRMS) 2.0 portal, it mentioned.

Ayushman Bharat scheme hits roadblocks in capital

NEW DELHI: Nearly four months after its rollout in the Capital, the BJP government's flagship Ayushman Bharat scheme is yet to gain significant traction in Delhi. Despite early momentum, the health insurance programme has reached only a limited section of the intended population, mainly beneficiaries under the Antyodaya Anna Yojana (AAY) and citizens above 70 years. Launched on April 10, shortly after the BJP formed government in Delhi, the scheme's first phase included the issuance of Ayushman cards to AAY beneficiaries. A parallel initiative, Ayushman Vaya Vandana Yojana, was introduced for senior citizens. As per official data, only 4.4 lakh Ayushman cards have been issued under both schemes so far, and just 4,029 individuals have received treatment. This is despite the scheme offering free healthcare benefits up to Rs 10 lakh per family per year. Officials attribute the slow pace to poor participation from large private hospitals. Many corporate hospitals have reportedly declined to join the scheme due to dissatisfaction with treatment package rates. 'Top-tier healthcare facilities are crucial for the scheme's success, but several have expressed discontent with reimbursement rates,' a government official with the State Health Agency said. He added that while lobbying is underway to revise package rates, any such decisions will require central government approval, based on inputs from the Delhi administration. Another key hurdle has been the absence of a clear plan to expand eligibility beyond the existing categories, leaving a large segment of the vulnerable population excluded. 'Until both hospital participation and beneficiary scope are broadened, Ayushman Bharat will not reach its full potential in Delhi,' the official noted.
